Minerva was the goddess of poetry, medicine, wisdom, commerce, arts and crafts, and the inventor of music arts. Minerva represents wisdom, that is, skilful knowledge joined with discreet practice, and comprehends the understanding of the noblest arts, the best accomplishments of the mind, together with all the virtues, but more especially that of Knowledge. Senior Girls Year book committee have chosen Minerva as its herald and representative because it symbolizes all of those qualities that might be wished for in a rational, virtuous, prudent, wise, and conscientious student: just the sort of progressive individual who might found a new nation.Even though Minerva was a pagan goddess, there is still plenty of room for a belief that students of various talents could come together as a team of creative individuals to create a magazine that voices the opinion held by the individual members of the senior girls section and showcase their various talents and achievements.
