focuses on the delivery of educational and social services to individuals with developmental disabilities

Program Description• Cross-cultural experience

in Cork, Ireland• The opportunity to work

with Irish professionals and deliver services to individuals with developmental disabilities.

• Learn about Irish history, culture and traditions through in/out of-country travel and attendance at social and cultural events.

•Letting people of every ability live life to the fullest •Many placement sites within COPE : •LRPA•Early Intervention- Autism• Adult Day Services•Elderly Services•Residential Services•School ( SCOIL) •Respite Services

Curriculum Abroad• SPED 4800/6800: Cross-

Cultural Perspectives in Developmental Disabilities: Ireland▫ You must write a 5-7 page

paper, double spaced, on a topic of your choice. Can be in groups.

▫ 10 minute oral presentation to the group on your paper topic

• SPED 4440S/7440S: Practicum Study Abroad in Ireland▫ This is your placement

experience

Stuff you need to know• Program Fee: $2836.00

▫Not including Airfare or tuition▫Does include:

 lodging in student apartments with private bedroom and bath on University College Cork campus

Insurance orientation and departure meals, transportation to and from either Shannon Cork city bus pass for 5 weeks Cork City, County Cork, Gouganne Barra and other

group tours, cultural events (e.g. entry fees to sports match, concert, etc.).

Stuff you need to know cont’d•Application due by January 2013•Program fee due February 2013•Space is limited, apply soon!! •GPA of 3.0 or higher on 4.0 scale•Prior experience with persons with

developmental disabilities required ( If none you will get it prior to departure)

•Letters of recommendation (minimum of two)

• Interview with Program Faculty (via Skype if non UGA)
