Planning a Training Session

• Determine a goal– Where do you want to end up?

• State objectives– How do you plan to get there?

• Create an outline– Determines flow of information– Contains only items relating to objectives

• Design audio/visual aids• Develop interactive activities

Five Weeks before event____With local coordinator select site,date , and time ,for your presentation,determine an alternate site just in case.

One week before event_____ Prepare presentation packet Sign in sheet Hand outs Evaluations

____ Inform local coordinator and/or statecoordinator if assistance is needed.

Three weeks before event____ If speakers are being utilized send aconformation letter including details on

_____ Collect supplies needed forscheduled activities Index cards Pencils Markers, ect.

date, time location ( including directions)and what is expected of the speaker.

___ Check your supply of materials. Ordermore if needed

Day of the event____ Relax and have funDay after the event____ Send Thank you letters to yourspeakers.

Two weeks before event___ Send letters, invitations, post flyers toinform potential participants of theupcoming presentation.

____ Complete report forms, forward anyreferrals to local HICARE Coordinator.One week after the event____ Send agenda, evaluations, sign-insheets and any articles written about yourpresentation to local HICARE Coordinator

___ Get biographies of speakers andprepare introductions.
