Practice & Experience
Hearing the Spirit in the hustle & bustle Our souls yearn after the Spirit.
We were made for intimacy with God.
1. A Wise & Understanding People
Need clarity in what we say, hear and think. A lot more than “knowledge”
E.g. The Christian view of marriage.• A harsh and extreme message lacks wisdom &
understanding.• It misrepresents God and His truth by ignoring
the whole.
Thoughtfulness & insight to grasp the interconnections between one Biblical truth and another.
2. Truth commended to our conscience
Two essentials (2 Cor 4:2) No shameful, deceptive, underhand
distortions of God’s word.
Proclaim truth plainly – commended to our conscience.
E.g. Parts of the Bible we don’t like.• We accept it all.
2. Truth commended to our conscience
To walk intimately with God we take Him as he is. Receiving everything we know so that it
commends itself to our conscience.• E.g. losing weight.
2. Truth commended to our conscience
Move our walk with God beyond trite verses or moralistic choices. Let the Spirit speak to our consciences
• Through Scripture & others.
