NEW DELHI: India's team management has denied reports that Virat Kohli used offensive language at a journalist during a World Cup practice session in Perth,Australia. The Indian media reported widely Wednesday that Kohli apparently mistook the journalist for somebody who had published a negative story about the

batsman's girlfriend.

Kohli, who was elevated to India's test captaincy when Mahendra Singh Dhoni retired from the longer format during the recent series against Australia, is keyplayer in India's attempt to defend the World Cup title. The Board of Control for Cricket in India issued a brief statement saying: "There was a misunderstandingand no abusive language was used. Virat has spoken to the concerned gentlemen immediately and matter ends ..."

Kolkata: Former India captain Sourav Ganguly on Tuesday hailed the return of Jagmohan Dalmiya as BCCI president and said the seasoned cricket administratorwill fulfil all the expectations. "He knows (things) better than anybody else. He will do all the right things. He will fulfill all the expectations," Ganguly said.

There were reports about Dalmiya's desire for Ganguly to head the BCCI technical committee but the former skipper refused to comment of the issue. "I will see

when it comes," Ganguly said. Dalmiya taking over BCCI to job may also turn out to be a windfall of sorts for the Cricket Association of Bengal which isexpecting to host the final of World Twenty20 next year.

"We expect to get big matches for the next World Cup including a bid for the final," an official said, adding that the first Working Committee meeting of the Boardafter the election of new office bearers may be held in the third week of this month here.
