The SmartLock design features a unique Low Profile Cross-PinScrew Head. This screw head offers superior friction fit and axial guidance compared to other available screw heads.
• The only one-step locking screw with a locking capability up to 10˚ of angulation for the Mid-Face and Mandible locking plates.
• SMARTLock Locking Screws are manufactured with fine threads on the underside of the screw head, which upon insertion engage the circular “lip” within the hole.
• The SMARTLock Locking Screw Technology in mid-face and mandible applications not only provides a more stable plate-screw construct, but also decreases the possibility of infections or implant failure caused when screws loosen.

Contour & Application: Resorbable Plates
Step 1- Expose the fracture.
Step 2- Use benders tocontour Locking Plates.Benders include plate pockets with hole-pegs toreduce hole deformation.
Step 3- Cut plate with righthandle (R) in area labeled“CUT.” Slide the plate intothe cutting area. Cut will takeplace within the window.
Step 4- Insert drill guideinto drill guide handle anddrill hole. *Drill guides mustbe used when drilling holesintended to be used withlocking screws.
Step 5- Only insert firstscrew about 75% of the way,then drill the hole for thesecond screw and insert sec-ond screw 100% until lockedinto the plate. Finish the firstscrew then proceed accord-ingly with the other screws.
Step 6- Fracture fixation iscomplete.
Step 1- Expose the fractureand select the appropriatetemplate. Create the neces-sary contour on the template.
Step 2- Using the forceps,hold appropriate plate to tem-plate and submerge in sterilewater bath. After 15 seconds,remove and contour to thetemplate and let cool in roomtemperature. For additional “insitu” contouring, use contouringpens.
Step 3- Drill holes.
Step 4- Tap the hole usingthe bone tap. Be sure to setappropriate depth on thetap’s depth stop.
Step 5- Steps 3 and 4 areskipped by using a self-drillingtap. Set depth stop atappropriate depth and useself-drilling tap attached tothe tap handle. Make surethat the hole-depth is equalto (or longer) than thelength of screw to be used.
Step 6- Insert screws withthe torque-limiting feature inthe “ON” position on thescrewdriver handle.
Step 7- Fracture fixation iscomplete.

Step 1- Expose fracture(s). Step 2- Use benders tocontour Fracture Plate.Benders include platepockets to reduce holedeformation.
Step 3- Cut FracturePlate with the right handle(R) in the area labeled"CUT.” Slide the platethrough the cutter fromleft to right. Cut will takeplace within the window.
Step 4- Insert the drillguide through trocar anddrill hole.
Step 5- Measure desiredscrew length using adepth gauge.
Step 6- Insert screw and repeat process foreach screw until fracturefixation is complete.
