Itinerary April 9th, 2012 Today, you board your flight bound for the Washington area. You’ll be assisted with your luggage and stop for dinner en route to Gettysburg where you’ll check in to your hotel for the evening. Overnight: Gettysburg Area (D) April 10th, 2012 This morning after breakfast, you’ll depart for Gettysburg where you’ll tour the new Gettysburg Museum with it’s huge collection of American Civil War artifacts and documents. You’ll see the film “A New Birth of Freedom” before setting oto visit the Cyclorama Center. After enjoying lunch on your own, join your guide for a visit to the Gettysburg Battlefield. Over 1600 monuments and cannons dot the landscape in memory of those who fought and died here. You’ll also visit the Dwight D. Eisenhower Home and Farm where the President and Mamie lived during and after their White House years. After time in your hotel to freshen up, you’ll enjoy dinner at the 250 year old Fairfield Inn where Abe Lincoln might join you for the evening! You’ll enjoy the picturesque countryside and farmland, passing buggies and perhaps crossing one of the area’s two covered bridges. As you pass by windmills and waterwheels which provide power, you’ll find that around every bend there is a picture postcard view! April 15th, 2012Enjoy breakfast at your hotel this morning before departing for the new September 11, 2001 Memorial at the Pentagon honoring the 184 souls who lost their lives. Your next stop will be at the National Archives where for the first time in modern history all pages of the original Declaration of Independence, Constitution and Bill of Rights are on display to the public. Next you’ll visit the Smithsonian Institution’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center - National Air and Space Museum. From the Space shuttle Enterprise to the “Enola Gay”, this center tells the history of aviation and space flight. Enjoy lunch at the museum before departing for the airport and your flight home. April 13th, 2012After breakfast at your hotel, you’ll visit Arlington National Cemetery. No land in America is more sacred than this square mile that is America’s shrine to valor and sacrifice. This is the final resting place of President John F. Kennedy, band leader Glenn Miller, General George S. Patton and of course thousands of soldiers from every major U.S. war. After your visit, you’ll enjoy lunch on your own as well as time to shop at the classic Beaux-Arts Union Station. You’ll then tour President Lincoln’s Cottage where he and his family lived for nearly a quarter of his presidency. Then you’ll tour the Washington National Cathedral, a living symbol of our country’s heritage of faith and religious freedom. Our final stops before dinner will be at the Franklin D. April 14th, 2012After breakfast at your hotel this morning, it’s on to your Premium-Preferred Grandstand Seat for the spectacular Cherry Blossom Parade! The parade is one of Washington DC’s most beloved traditions and you’ll get to see giant colorful balloons, performers and marching bands from high schools all over the
