What doesnt look familiar to you is easily found on-line and in reference materials.

    CLASS BEHAVIOR AND EXPECTATIONS:

    1. Be on time. Arriving late is rude, disruptive and disrespectful to me and to the rest of the class. 3 latearrivals equals 1 absence.

    2. Spanish is a spoken language and the only way for me to know if and when you re speaking is ifyoure here in class. Therefore there is an attendance policy:

    * you have 3 unexcused absences [excused absences are for College-sanctioned events and must beaccompanied by prior notification]

    * after 6 absences (2 weeks) I reserve the right to automatically fail you, and you should drop theclass.

    * If at the end of the semester you have perfect attendance, 3 points will be added to your overallgrade.

    3. CELL PHONES OFF!!! LEAVE IT VISIBLE ON TOP OF YOUR DESK.If I see you texting, I will consider it an insult [since youre obviously not paying attention to me] and atestament to your rudeness and immaturity. PHONES MUST BE ON TOP OF YOUR DESK DURINGEXAMS! I will suspect the worst if I see you with your hands between your legs during a test.

    4. Cheating and plagiarism are serious offenses and will be punished accordingly--F/F for cheating onyour transcript/vivisection [look it up].DO YOUR OWN WORK! It will be painfully obvious to me, and embarrassing for you, if your bilingualfriend has done your work for you, and you will not receive credit for that work. You also wont learnanything and isnt that kind of the point of doing the work?Exams will have different forms and the person next to you might not necessarily have the same formthat you do.

    5. NO GUM SNAPPING! It really gets on my nerves and it will probably cause me to subconsciously hateyou and lower your grade. Why risk it?

    6. Please come to class prepared, or stay home. You should have your books, paper, something to write

with, the assignment should be completed and ready to hand in. If you missed the previous class, it isyour responsibility to find out ASAP what you missed and what is due. Get the names, numbers andemails of several classmates. The assignments and work covered are readily available on the blog.WHICH IS NOT ANGEL.DONT EMAIL ME ASKING FOR THE ASSIGNMENT OR MATERIAL COVERED. THATS WHAT THEBLOG PAGE IS FOR. ITS NOT ON.....ANGEL.

    7. Falling asleep in class is the same as being absent and will be penalized accordingly. Youmay also be made fun of, possibly decorated, and left behind at the end of class.

    8. Never ever ever ask either of the following 2 questions: Did I miss anything last class? orDid we do anything important in the last class?OF COURSE YOU DID/ WE DID!!! Do you think we just sat there waiting for you to show up??It was your responsibility to find out BEFORE class what you missed. Check the non-Angelblog. (This holds true for all of your professorsif you want to annoy them, ask them one of those twoquestions.)

    9. To keep things interesting, you may working in assigned groups. These groups will be reconfiguredover 2 weeks or so. By the end of the semester, you should have had the opportunity to work witheveryone in the class.

    10. My name is Professor Zee, Profesora Zee, Profe Zee or Dr. Zee. I am not Miss Zee, Mrs. Zee oryo, Zee. Once you have your degree you can call me Linda.

    11. I have a somewhat dry, somewhat snarky, somewhat obnoxious sense of humor. Get used to it.

    GRADING

Please dont tell me [or any other professor for that matter] what grade you need. If you need a B, dothe work and get a B. We dont give grades. We add up the points of the work that youve done. Atthe start of the semester, you have ZERO because you havent done anything yet. In other words, youearn an A, not lose it.

EXAMS 50% There will be 4 in-class exams, a map exam and a final exam, which is NOTcomprehensive [i.e. its exam #5]. I drop the lowest exam grade, so if you miss an exam, thats the oneyou drop. NO MAKEUPS.If, at the end of the semester youre satisfied with your grade, you dont need to take the final.**The map test does not count as one of the 5 exams and cannot be dropped.

HOMEWORK AND NULU 15% Homework is due on my desk at the beginning of class. Late work, ifaccepted at all, will be penalized one letter grade per day. NULU is due once a week. This is your lab.Yes, its $25 a semester. But you did not have to purchase a $200 text book, right?

MINIPRUEBAS 25% These are short quizzes on the material covered in the previous class. They will be given at the beginning of class. If you are late, you will not be given the quiz.Depending on how many are given, one or more of the lowest grades will be dropped.
