To define God by our circumstances is to diminish Him. God is good. No matter what. In the good times and the bad. All that we ever deserved is hell. To know God and His unfailing love in the good and the bad, in life and in death, is pure gravy. Biblical perspective. "God, God, a God of mercy and grace, endlessly patient—so much love, so deeply true—loyal in love for a thousand generations, forgiving iniquity, rebellion, and sin" (Exodus 34:6-7, MSG). GOD'S GOODNESS NOT DEFINED BY OUR CIRCUMSTANCES

"Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! His faithful love endures forever." Psalm 107:1

Perspective gives us a clearer and much better understanding of the whole picture. When I consider that the only thing I ever deserved in life is hell, everything else

    is gravy.

Job understood this. After the devastating news of his children being killed and

finding out he was bankrupt, he said, "The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised" (Job 1:21). He told his wife who

counseled him to curse God and be done with it, "Youre talking like an empty-headed fool. We take the good days from Godwhy not also the bad days?" (2:10, MSG).

The goodness of God is not defined by the "good" things that happen in our lives.

The goodness of God is defined by His faithful love that endures. He has already proven that by sending His Son, Jesus Christ. And if God was willing and glad to

do that, how will anything in this world get between believers and God's love for

    them?

"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither

the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ

    Jesus our Lord" (Romans 8:38-39).

To define God by our circumstances is to diminish Him. God is good. No matter

what. In the good times and the bad. All that we ever deserved is hell. To know God and His unfailing love in the good and the bad, in life and in death, is pure

gravy. Biblical perspective. "God, God, a God of mercy and grace, endlessly patientso much love, so deeply trueloyal in love for a thousand generations, forgiving iniquity, rebellion, and sin" (Exodus 34:6-7, MSG).
