A huge part of this success is because of the play and leadership of Tylor Adcock. Tylor is a sophomore defender for the Knights and has had a fantastic season. She is a strong, fearless player that does whatever it takes to keep the ball out of the back. Her ability to win balls in the air has also made her a threat on the attack. In addition to her play on the field she has taken on a strong leadership role and helps keep the team focused and working together. Tylor also excels in the classroom maintaining a 3.9GPA and is a Varsity Athlete on the basketball and track teams as well. Congratulations Tylor and keep up the great work. Local teams continue post- season this week T he Kamiak football team bounced back from a first half deficit to beat Arlington 38- 28 in a Wesco conference match. The Knights have earned the No. 5 seed for District 1 going for- ward as the playoffs this week. They will play Bellarmine Prep, the No. 1 team from the Narrows Conference, in Tacoma at Mount Tahoma High School at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9. Against Arlington, Kamiak’s Joseph Binda scored the first touchdown of the night with 7:25 left in the first quarter after a 4-yard run. The Knights followed their 7-0 lead with a 28-yard field goal by Nicholas Menghini with 52 sec- onds left in the first to lead 10-0 going into the second quarter. Arlington scored with 10:55 to play in the first half, and the Eagles took the lead with 8:33 left in the second after a pick six. Arlington led 14-10. Kamiak’s Menghini kicked his second field goal of the night, this time from 28-yards out, with 2:31 left in the first half to give the Knights a momentary 14-13 lead, but Arlington added another touchdown with 26.5 seconds left. The Eagles led 21-13 at half- time. In the second half, Arlington started the third quarter with a touchdown, but Kamiak held the Eagles scoreless for the rest of the game. Menghini hit a 26-yard field goal in the third, the only Knights points of the quarter before Kamiak went on to score 22 unanswered points in the final minutes of the game. Tyler Webley scored after a 7-yard run in the fourth, fol- lowed by two more touchdowns by Binda, the first a 5-yard run with a 2-point conversion and the second a 7-yard run late in the game. If Kamiak, now 6-3 overall this season, beats Bellarmine this week, the Knights will be the No. 3 team out of District 3 go- ing into the 4A state playoffs and will play on Nov. 15 or Nov. 16. Kamiak tennis players 3rd, 4th at district tournament Kamiak tennis players Jimmy Hua and doubles pair Dominic Lee and Garrett Peterson fin- ished in third and fourth place at the 4A district tournament on Wednesday, Oct. 30. In singles matches, Hua lost to Arlington’s Trent Sarver 3-6, 6-2, 6-0 to finish in third place. Joseph Lee lost to Sarver on Oct. 29 in the quarterfinals, fall- ing 6-7 (5-7) 6-4, 6-2. In doubles matches, Dominic Lee and Garrett Peterson beat Peter Cung and Luke George from Jackson in a 6-4, 7-5 match on Wednesday to finish in fourth place. On Saturday, Nov. 2, Peterson and Lee traveled to Skagit Valley College for a tiebreaker match, with the winners earning a spot in next spring’s state tourna- ment. Alex Namba and Derek Huang of Newport High School beat the duo from Kamiak 6-1, 6-0 to fin- ish Lee and Peterson’s season. The 4A state tennis tourna- ment will take place in May. Mariner football falls 35-34 to Snohomish The Mariner football team lost a tight game to Snohomish on Friday, Nov. 1. The final score was 35-34, earn- ing Snohomish it’s first victory of the season. The Marauders were the first to score when Joshua William- son ran a 6-yard touchdown. The extra point failed, but Mariner led 6-0. Snohomish led 7-6 at the end of the first quarter. Mariner scored 22 points in the second quarter, while al- lowing Snohomish to score two touchdowns. The Panthers scored to earn a 14-6 led early in the second, but Mariner’s Dyonte Law scored a 9-yard touchdown, followed by a two-point conversion by Wil- liamson. Snohomish scored early in the second quarter, but Williamson followed with an 8-yard touch- down. The quarter ended with Mariner’s Junius Fidow scoring off a 36-yard pass from quarter- back Nick Smith. Williamson earned his second two-point conversion of the night and the Marauders led 28- 21 at halftime. Snohomish scored the only points of the third quarter, and the score was tied 28-28 at the end of the third quarter. Mariner’s Law make a 95-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, but the extra point at- tempt failed. Snohomish tied the game again with a 1-yard touch- down run, and the Panthers kick sealed the win. Mariner will play Stanwood on Friday, Nov. 8, at 7 p.m. at Goddard Field in the final game of the season. The Kamiak football team bounced back from a first

half deficit to beat Arlington 38-

28 in a Wesco conference match.The Knights have earned the

No. 5 seed for District 1 going for-ward as the playoffs this week. They will play Bellarmine Prep, the No. 1 team from the Narrows

Conference, in Tacoma at Mount Tahoma High School at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9.

Against Arlington, Kamiak’s Joseph Binda scored the first touchdown of the night with

7:25 left in the first quarter after a 4-yard run.

The Knights followed their 7-0 lead with a 28-yard field goal by Nicholas Menghini with 52 sec-onds left in the first to lead 10-0

going into the second quarter.Arlington scored with 10:55

to play in the first half, and the Eagles took the lead with 8:33 left in the second after a pick six. Arlington led 14-10.

Kamiak’s Menghini kicked his second field goal of the night, this time from 28-yards out, with 2:31 left in the first half to give the Knights a momentary 14-13 lead, but Arlington added another touchdown with 26.5 seconds left.

The Eagles led 21-13 at half-time.

In the second half, Arlington started the third quarter with a touchdown, but Kamiak held the Eagles scoreless for the rest of the game.

Menghini hit a 26-yard field goal in the third, the only Knights points of the quarter before Kamiak went on to score 22 unanswered points in the final minutes of the game.

Mariner football falls 35-34 to Snohomish

The Mariner football team lost a tight game to Snohomish on Friday, Nov. 1.

The final score was 35-34, earn-

ing Snohomish it’s first victory of the season.

The Marauders were the first to score when Joshua William-son ran a 6-yard touchdown. The extra point failed, but Mariner led 6-0.

Snohomish led 7-6 at the end of the first quarter.

Mariner scored 22 points in the second quarter, while al-lowing Snohomish to score two touchdowns.

The Panthers scored to earn a 14-6 led early in the second, but Mariner’s Dyonte Law scored a 9-yard touchdown, followed by a two-point conversion by Wil-liamson.
