EasyBib (Chrome Extension)

Introduction:

EasyBib for the Chrome web

browser is an extension that

supports referencing. The

referencing toolbar quickly

generates a citation. The

citation can be created in

many formats, such as MLA,

Chicago, and APA. It also

examines the credibility of the

website you are citing.

Task Challenge/Activity

open the Chrome web browser on your computer/laptop

install the EasyBib extension through the Chrome Web Store

once installed, EasyBib’s extension icon will appear next to the

web address bar in the upper right corner of the Chrome web

browser

go to a website of your choice

o for example, https://www.ancient.eu/Roman_Architecture/

once the page has loaded, click the EasyBib extension icon next to the

address bar

a pop-up menu will appear (feel free register/login for the ability to

save and share citations/bibliographies)

on the menu, you are able to create a citation or view bibliography

once you select “Cite on EasyBib,” another webpage and window will open with pre-populated

information in the boxes (feel free to add or change any information)

once the boxes are accurate and complete, scroll down and select the “Create Citation” button

at the bottom of the page

the page will show several options: to create a new citation in a different format (MLA,

Chicago, APA, etc) and source (website, book, video/film, journal, etc)

your citation appears towards the bottom of the page and you may edit it or copy & paste it

you can continue to scroll down and save your citation, share it, or export it (note: you need to be logged

in order to save)

you can also create a new citation, and it is able to generate a bibliography

if you log in (after registering for an account), you have access to the page below that stores your projects

and projects shared with you

note: EasyBib is also available as an add-on for Google Docs
