PrefaceThis is the GE Accord User Manual for the following models:

PTZ-NC, PTZ-IC-18XDN, PTZ-IC-18XDP, PTZ-IC-26XDN, PTZ-IC-26XDP,

PTZ-HDR1-12N, PTZ-HDR1-12P, PTZ-HDR1-21N, PTZ-HDR1-21P

This document includes an overview of the product and detailed instructions explaining:

• how to access programming menus; and • how to configure the system.

There is also information describing how to contact technical support if you have questions or concerns.

To use this document effectively, you should have the following minimum qualifications:

• a basic knowledge of CCTV systems and components; and• a basic knowledge of electrical wiring and low-voltage electrical connections.

Read these instructions and all ancillary documentation entirely before installing or operating this product. The most current versions of this and related documentation may be found on our website. Refer to Online publication library on page 26 for instructions on accessing our online publication library.

Note: A qualified service person, complying with all applicable codes, should perform all required hardware installation.

Product overviewThis manual contains programming instructions for the Accord integrated camera positioning system. The most common programming options and screen sequences are illustrated. Notations indicate where options may differ among camera modes.

The KTD-405 keypad is used to enter settings for the Accord. The KTD-405 uses a joystick to control directions. Refer to the keypad manual for more information.

Accessing programming menusBefore you can use the KTD-405 keypad with the Accord, you must set the lowest user programmed preset to 1. To accomplish that, do the following.

1. Hold the set key until the keypad beeps.

2. Press 1, 4, 7, 6, and seq.

3. Use the right arrow key to cycle through the menus until you reach the LOWEST USER PRGMD PRESET menu.

4. Press 0, 1.

5. Press and hold seq to exit the programming menu.

You are now ready to program your Accord.

Initiating access with the keypad

To access the programming mode, begin at the normal operating display and do the following.

1. Press and hold the enter key ( ) until the Enter programming code display (Figure 2) appears.

2. At the code entry display, enter the programming access code 9, 5, 1, seq.

4. At the camera/receiver display (Figure 4), enter the site number of the camera you are programming.

Note: If the menu does not appear on the monitor, confirm that you are entering an existing camera/site number.

Advancing to the main programming menu

Subsequent menus display on the monitor screen.

The initial programming screen displays the startup menu (Figure 5), which includes software version information.

After the startup menu displays, press seq to advance to the main programming menu, the Program select menu (Figure 6).

Camera setupThe GE Accord cameras are operable when installed. If the factory default settings for the camera are acceptable, it is not necessary to reprogram the camera.

To enter the setup menus, press 1 from the Program select menu (Figure 6 on page 4). See Accessing programming menus on page 3 for more info.

Navigating the setup menus• To accept the settings displayed on the current menu and advance to the next menu, press or (seq).• To return to the preceding menu, press .• To select a setting, press the keypad number that corresponds with the choice in the menu. • Some menus require the use of the joystick and the set or clr buttons.

Using the setup menus

The setup menus and their corresponding functions are illustrated and explained in the following section.

Clear memory and return to factory defaults

You can restore setup features, presets, or titles to factory default settings. Any previously stored settings in the camera’s nonvolatile memory will be erased. To clear memory, do the following:.

1. Press 0, 1, or 2 to advance the display to clear the memory for the indicated feature (Figure 7).

Set autopan speed

You can select the speed at which the camera autopans.

2. Confirm the restoration of factory defaults for the feature chosen on the previous menu (Figure 8).

3. Press 0 to keep the current settings, or press 5 to delete the current settings and reload the factory default settings. The message --WORKING-- displays while the settings are reset.

After either selection, the main Clear memory menu displays.

Use the joystick (or the arrow keys) to test the three speed settings: slow, medium, and fast (Figure 9).

Note: Remember that you can accomplish a quick 180° turn of the camera by holding down the ESC button and pressing AUX 3 on the KTD-405 keypad.

Set autoreturn mode

You can set the camera to automatically return after a period of inactivity to a preprogrammed tour, home position, or to autopan mode. The home position is defined as preset 00; the tour position is defined as the last tour operated. To set autoreturn mode, do the following:

1. To automatically return to a tour, press 1; to return to the home position, press 2; to autopan, press 3; or to set the return time, press 4 (Figure 10).

Note: To disable the automatic return feature, press 0.

2. Set the period of inactivity (return time) referenced in the Automatic return menu by using the joystick (or arrow keys) to increase or decrease the return time in 15-second increments up to 5 minutes, and then by 1-minute increments up to 60 minutes. The minimum return time is 15 seconds. The maximum return time is 60 minutes. The default setting is 1 minute 00 seconds (Figure 11).

Note: The automatic return feature cannot be used on site 000.

Set azimuth indicator

To enable an azimuth direction indicator to be displayed on the monitor screen, do the following:.

Adjust day/night switch level

To adjust day/night switch levels, do the following;

1. To enable this feature, press 1.

2. To calibrate the indicator, point the camera north and press the 2 key. NORTH SETTING SAVED flashes briefly on the screen to confirm the setting (Figure 12).

Note: To disable this feature, press 0.

1. Set the level at which the camera’s infrared filter automatically switches in and out at dawn and dusk. The light level switch-point is adjustable, but should be set only during dawn/dusk conditions.

2. Select 0 to manually activate the switch. If this option is selected, contact the factory for proper keypad setup (Figure 13).

Note: You can also switch from day to night in manual mode, by pressing the esc and flashlight keys on the 405 keypad. The day/night switch is not available for all camera models.

Adjust electronic zoom setting

Set the electronic zoom on the camera. The factory default setting is ON.

Adjust exposure control setting

To set the method the camera uses to adjust to different light levels, do the following:

Press 1 to turn the electronic zoom off, or press 2 to turn the electronic zoom on (Figure 14).

Note: The number of electronic zoom settings available varies among camera models.

1. Press 0 to enable the camera to automatically adjust to different light levels. The iris open key (+ iris key for the KTD-405) toggles the electronic shutter, and the iris close key (iris - key for the KTD-405) toggles backlight compensation for image enhancement.

Note: Auto Day/Night mode forces the Sony camera into Auto Iris mode. If Auto Day/Night is enabled, the selection will indicate N/A.

2. Press 1 to allow manual control of the iris using the iris open and iris close keys (+ iris - key for the KTD-405).

3. Press 2 to allow manual control of the iris when stationary. It returns to autoiris mode upon pan/tilt movement (Figure 15).

Note: Exposure control is not available for all camera models.

Adjust lens initialization duration

To set the duration between camera lens initializations, do the following:

Adjust preset speed

Data line termination

1. During lens initialization, the camera zooms in and out to find the optimal home position for the lens. If you are running a shadow tour, lens initialization every 24 hours is recommended.

2. Press 1 to initialize the lens manually.

3. Press 2-5 to set the duration between automatic lens initializations (Figure 16).

Note: Lens initialization is not available for all camera models.

You can set the speed at which the camera travels between presets. This setting is used when calling up presets manually or in a tour (Figure 17).

This menu allows you to terminate the communication line without removing the front housing door (Figure 17).

Press 1 to set this camera as the last unit on the data line, or press 0 to indicate this camera is not the last unit on the data line.

Adjust shutter speed

You can set the shutter speed by pressing the number that corresponds with the desired speed.

Enable or disable site number display

You can enable or disable the display of the camera site number in the upper left corner of the monitor screen.

During pan/tilt operation, shutter speed is 1/60 of a second. In low or bright light, shutter speed can be adjusted to enhance the video image while the camera is in a stationary position.

Note: Shutter speed adjustment is not available for all camera models.

Note: Auto Day/Night mode forces the Sony camera into Auto Iris and Auto Shutter Speed mode. If Auto Day/Night or Auro Iris are enabled, the Shutter Speed selection will indicate N/A.

Adjust white balance

You can set the method by which the camera shifts its output colors to compensate for the color of a light source. To adjust white balance, do the following:

1. Press 0 for a static, default setting; 1 for auto-tracing (white balance is adjusted while the image changes); 2 for static indoor setting; 3 for a static outdoor setting; or 4 to make manual adjustments (displays the Manual white balance adjust menu) (Figure 22).

Note: The White Balance feaure is not available for all cameras.

2. Use the joystick (or arrow keys) to manually adjust the white balance to the desired setting. The up and down arrows adjust the blue level in the picture. Left and right arrows adjust the red level in the picture (Figure 23).

Note: Some camera models do not have the White balance menu.

Set address

Setting the address allows the camera site number to be changed. To set the address, do the following:

Press 1 to restrict the pan crossover (Figure 24). This means that when finding a preset or running a preset tour, the unit will not cross the 180 degree mark. This prevents a preset tour from causing the unit to rotate in one direction and wrap the wires around the unit.

Use this menu to set the OSD to NTSC or PAL operation. The default setting is NTSC. Press 0 to change the setting to PAL operation.

Changing the display mode does not take effect until the power is recycled.

1. Enter a three-digit site number (000 to 511) (Figure 26).

2. Press the set key. When prompted to reconfirm, press the set key.

3. Exit the Program select menu (Figure 6 on page 4) to complete the camera site change. The message CHANGE CAMERA TO XXX will display on screen for two seconds to signify the successful change.

Presets and areasGE Accord cameras can store up to 64 (numbered 00 to 63) preset positions. To enter preset positions, do the following:

1. Navigate to the Program select menu (Figure 6 on page 4).

2. Press 2. The Preset programming menu (Figure 27) displays.

3. Move the camera to the desired position.

4. Enter a two-digit number to indicate the preset position (00 to 63). Use a number that is equal to or greater than the lowest unused number indicated on the screen.

Note: Preset numbers 62 and 63 are reserved for autopan limit settings. Preset 00 is designated as Home (used for auto return functions) and can only be set from this menu.

5. Press the set key. A message displays for two seconds to confirm that the preset position has been stored.

6. After setting a preset, you can enter the preset number and press 1 to set up a title for that preset location (Figure 28).

8. The display location for the title can be moved up and down on the screen. To set the location, confirm that the cursor (arrow) is in the far left position (under the left caret). Use the number pad to set the position on the title. (The title cannot be moved from left to right.).

9. To enter the title, use the joystick to move the cursor to the right (inside the carets). The title entry menu instructions (Figure 30) are then displayed.

10. Use the number pad as indicated onscreen to display the desired alphanumeric character. Press the keypad number repeatedly to cycle through number and letter choices.

11. Move the joystick right and left (or use the arrow keys) to move to the next character or edit the previous character.

12. Press set to save the title, then press seq to return to the Preset programming menus.

13. Repeat the process for all additional preset positions to be stored.

14. Press seq to return to the Program select menu (Figure 6 on page 4).

Note: If you are going to reprogram a large number of existing presets, we recommend clearing those presets stored in memory.

Programming titled areas

The GE Accord can display a title over a selected area of a pan/tilt routine.

To program a titled area, do the following.

1. Navigate to the Edit titles menu (Figure 31 on page 16).

2. Press 1. The Assigning area titles menu (Figure 35) displays. Figure 35. Assign area titles menu

3. Use the keypad to enter the number of the area to be titled and programmed. The second Assigning area titles menu (Figure 36) displays.

4. To define the boundaries of an area, use the joystick (or arrow keys) to pan/tilt the camera to the upper left corner of the desired area.

5. Press the clear key. LU-SET displays in the upper left corner of the screen to confirm the entry.

Reviewing camera settingsTo review the current setup settings for your camera, press 4 (current status) from the Program select menu. Settings cannot be entered or changed from the setup status menus.

The typical setup status menus are shown in Figure 37 and Figure 38.

Note: Certain features listed in Figure 37 and Figure 38 are inactive for your product.

To page up and down through the menus, move the joystick up or down (or use the arrow keys).

To return to the Program select menu, press seq.

GE Accord cameras with preset and area features have status menus that show programmed presets (Figure 39) and programmed areas (Figure 40).

ToursIn the PTZ programming menu, tours 1 and 2 are shadow tours, tours 3 and 4 are preset tours.

Note: The tours cannot be used on site 000.

Shadow tours

A shadow tour is a tour that the camera learns by recording up to four minutes of manual operation. Use a keypad to manually direct your camera through the desired PTZ movements, and the camera stores in memory the movements you performed. This recorded tour can be replayed at any time.

Programming a new shadow tourTo program a new shadow tour, do the following:

1. Press 5 from the Program select menu (Figure 6 on page 4). The first menu to display is the PTZ tour programming menu (Figure 41).

Reviewing an existing shadow tour

To review an existing shadow tour return to the PTZ tour programming menu (Figure 41), and do the following:

1. Press 1 or 2 depending on which tour you want to review. The shadow tour menu (Figure 42 on page 21) displays.

2. Press 1. The selected shadow tour plays.

Note: You can press 0 to record over a shadow tour.

Press the seq key or move the joystick to end the shadow tour and return to the shadow tour menu (Figure 42 on page 21) at any time during the tour.

3. Press 0 to program a new tour. The shadow tour program menu (Figure 43) displays.

4. Press the set key to start the tour timer.

5. Using the joystick, the zoom keys, and the focus keys, move the camera to the desired locations for the shadow tour. The maximum tour time is four minutes.

6. Press the set key to finish the tour.

Press seq to display the PTZ tour programming menu (Figure 41).

Preset tours

The GE Accord has preset tour capabilities. A preset tour is composed of a group of preset positions that the operator can link together in a sequence.

Programming preset tours

Each tour consists of a string of up to 16 steps, or presets, which are programmed by the user. To program preset tours, do the following:

1. From the PTZ tour programming menu (Figure 41 on page 21), select the tour to be edited. The tour programming menus display (Figure 44 and Figure 45).

2. Navigate through preset, speed, and dwell time using the joystick.

3. For each step programmed, the following information must be entered:

• The preset number (0 to 63).• The dwell time at each step (1 to 31

seconds). The default dwell time is 2 seconds.

• The speed at which the camera moves between presets. There are four speed settings: 0, 1, 2 (slow, medium, and fast, as per autopan), and 3 (maximum speed). The default speed is 3. A dot next to the preset indicates that the preset has not yet been set.

4. To clear information from any step, press the clear key.

5. To finish programming the tour, press the seq key. The PTZ tour programming menu (Figure 41 on page 21) displays.

To return to the normal operating display, begin at the camera/receiver display shown in Figure 46 and do the following:

AutopanWhen in autopan mode, the camera repeats a back-and-forth motion. To set the limit for the left turnaround point, as well as the tilt and zoom positions for the autopan, do the following:

1. Position the camera at the desired left limit.

2. Tilt and zoom the camera into the desired position.

3. Press store.

Note: Do not attempt to enter a preset number. The preset number 62 is reserved for the left autopan limit and is automatically entered when you perform step 5.

4. Press .

5. Press store again. The Store preset number displays on the keypad.

To set the limit for the right autopan, do the following:

1. Position the camera at the desired right limit and press store.

Note: Do not attempt to enter a preset number. The preset number 63 is reserved for the right autopan limit and is automatically entered when you perform step 3.

2. Press .

3. Press store again. The Store preset number displays on the keypad.

To activate the autopan, press and hold tour until the keypad beeps. The camera initiates the pan motion.

Troubleshooting your Accord system

• Why don’t my reprogrammed presets, tours, or autopans function as I programmed them to?

Previously programmed information may be affecting the operation. Clear the memory for the feature you are reprogramming and program the new settings. See Clear memory and return to factory defaults on page 5 for more information.
