The Library purchases only legal DVDs and strives to collect titles which match community interests and standards. Occasionally, popular titles which receive “Parental Guidance”, “14A”, “18A” or “Restricted” according to the Canadian Rating System for Home Videos (www.media-awareness.ca) are purchased. Because the Library does not censor and can not monitor the viewing of such titles, DVDs are loaned only to adult members. Parents who wish to allow their children unrestricted DVD borrowing privileges may request this status on their children’s cards. Our DVDs are kept in compact plastic cases which are loaned in protective vinyl pouches. We chose this method to make it easier for you to carry and store your DVDs and so that you can return them safely and conveniently in our overnight return slots. Patrons are responsible for loss, theft and damage to circulating cases and pouches. The Library cannot assume responsibility for damage to DVD players and drives which may occur while a DVD disc being used. It is a violation of copyright laws to copy DVD disc material. DVDs may not be televised, edited or copied, without the written permission of the distributor or producer. Titles owned by the Library are for individual home use only. It is illegal to exhibit in a public place DVD materials licensed for home use only. To help us maintain a quality DVD collection, we ask users to report any damages to discs which impede their performance. Do you own DVDs which you no longer watch?
