NEWSLETTER ON THE REPATRIATION OF SOUTH AFRICAN CITIZENS 11 June 2020 #RepatriationSA Over 8 000 South Africans have been repatriated to date. Hundreds more have crossed over land borders from neighbouring states. Following the declaration of the State of Disaster by President Cyril Ramaphosa and the implementation of the national lockdown on 26 March 2020, the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) has facilitated the repatriation of over 8 000 South Africans stranded abroad (by air). Over 800 have also returned through land borders. South Africans stranded in Mozambique will be allowed to return home over three days from 12 to 14 June 2020. This applies to the 385 South Africans who have registered with the South African High Commission in Maputo, have been verified by the Department of Home Affairs, and have been approved by the Government of the Republic of Mozambique. They will be allowed to travel through the Ressano Garcia/Lebombo Border Post. Destitute, stranded and distressed South Africans in Madagascar, Namibia, Zambia, Ethiopia, Senegal, Malawi, Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Zambia, Spain, Australia, Russia and the United States of America (USA) were repatriated over the past few days.More flights are planned in the coming weeks. The number of South Africans abroad continues in the 6 000 to 7 000 range, despite the repatriation flights. As of 3 June 2020, the DIRCO Command Centre database recorded a total of 7 197 South Africans as "wanting to return home". NEWSLETTER ON THE REPATRIATION OF SOUTH AFRICAN CITIZENS

Over 8 000 South Africans have been repatriated to date.Hundreds more have crossed over land borders from neighbouring states.

Following the declaration of the State of Disaster by President Cyril Ramaphosa and the implementation of the

national lockdown on 26 March 2020, the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) has

facilitated the repatriation of over 8 000 South Africans stranded abroad (by air). Over 800 have also returned

through land borders.

South Africans stranded in Mozambique will be allowed to return home over three days from 12 to 14 June 2020.

This applies to the 385 South Africans who have registered with the South African High Commission in Maputo,
