Our Mock Tests are designed to help students refresh their knowledge, alertness and be mentally prepared for their fast approaching 11+ exams. Subject Literacy, Numeracy, English and Maths Date 23 May, 13 June, 27 June and 11 July Time 9am – 1.10pm Venue Mock tests will NOT take place in any of our centres. Room 5, The Malden Centre, Blagdon Road, New Malden KT3 4AF *Places are limited and will be offered on a first come first served basis. Mock Test Report English Summary Report for Ranking6 out of 48 Your Child's Score/Average Score : 73.7%/60.9% Saturday, 26 August , 2017 * If the student is not given a rank, it is shown as '‐ out of 48'. This means that the student received a score that is below the average(score). What did English assess? This tested comprehension and writing for 55 minutes. It was worth 38 marks overall. Section A of this paper tested comprehension skills. The questions were free response (not multiple choice) and ranged from 1 mark to 4 marks. Some of the questions only needed one‐word answers while others needed to be answered in full sentences. Some questions asked the pupil to support their answer with evidence from the text (i.e. use a quotation). Section B tested descriptive writing. Candidates were asked to write descriptively on a topic (for example ‘A stormy day’). They were then given three bullet points suggesting ideas for what to write about on this topic. This was not a test of telling a story or creating characters but rather of writing about one topic in detail. Section A of this paper tested comprehension skills. The questions were free response (not multiple choice) and ranged from 1 mark to 4 marks. Some of the questions only

needed one‐word answers while others needed to be answered in full sentences. Some questions asked the pupil to support their answer with evidence from the text (i.e.

use a quotation).

Section B tested descriptive writing. Candidates were asked to write descriptively on a topic (for example ‘A stormy day’). They were then given three bullet points

suggesting ideas for what to write about on this topic. This was not a test of telling a story or creating characters but rather of writing about one topic in detail.
