A Taxpayers Reform Agenda
1. The articulation of strong conservative principles as analternative to the unanimity of the NDP-Liberal-Red Tory
philosophy, i.e., a democracy of real debate, not sacred trusts.
2. The establishment of a Party controlled by private citizens,independent of its politicians and political insiders, and their
tactics of phony involvement, stacking of meetings and instant
memberships.
3. The replacement of the carnival atmosphere of politicalconventions orchestrated campaigns, balloons, songs, and free
booze with the active recruitment of solid candidates and theexamination of philosophy and policy, not image and personality.
4. The unveiling of the mysteries of party solidarity free andpublic caucus votes before a unanimous position is taken in the
Commons.
5. The termination of patronage appointments and positions, aswell as of the public funding of special interest groups.
6. The development of a randomly chosen Taxpayers Council tohelp legislators assess real public opinion, counteract funded
political lobby groups, and suggest ways of obtaining directtaxpayer input on government spending.
7. The ending of special status of the political class the ending ofheckling and juvenile behavior in Parliament, of the exemption of
Parliament from its own laws, of the right to slander private
citizens with immunity.
8. The furthering of constitutional changes for regionalrepresentation, as well as property and resource rights.
9. The organization of opposition to the attempt to permanentlyentrench constitutional arrangements. (Meech Lake)10.The implementation of the new economics of smallergovernment, regional diversification, non-discriminatory or
discretionary spending, privatization, fair trade, and less
expensive and less bureaucratic income transfers.
11. The identification of Western PC MPs ready to accept thisconventions agenda.
