SAS April Issue 8 STREET CLEANING Starting April 1st parking restrictions will, once again, be in effect, every Tuesday, for street cleaning. Please refer to the posted streets signs to avoid having your car towed. FIRST FRIDAY LITURGY Everyone is invited to join us on Friday, April 1 st , at 9:00AM, for our monthly liturgy. Grade Three is in charge. EARLY DISMISSAL It is scheduled for Friday, April 1 st . Classes will be dismissed at the following times: Preschool 11:45 Kindergarten 11:50 Grades 1 & 2 11:55 Grades 3-8 12:00 Students not picked up on time will AUTOMATICALLY be placed in the After School Program. Parents will be responsible for accrued fees. CLASS PICTURE DAY Photographers from Hockmeyer Studios will be here on Thursday, April 7 th , to take class pictures of all of the grades. Students will need to wear their regular uniforms. NUT Day passes will not be allowed that day. SCHOOL DANCE Student Council is sponsoring this special event on Friday, April 8 th , from 7:00pm- 10:00pm for students in grades 5-8. Tickets are $8.00 and include cost of admission, slice of pizza and a bottle of water. Tickets must be pre- purchased. This event is for SAS students only, and Parents’ Permission is needed in order to attend. BOOK FAIR It will take place the week of April 11 th , please look for more information which will be sent home later on this month.

STREET CLEANING

PTO MEETING

Everyone is invited to join us for our monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 12th, at 6:30pm. We will be discussing the Book Fair, Spring Dance and other upcoming events. Parents who attend will receive a Free NUT DAY pass for their child/ren.

BASKETBALL PROGRAM

It would not be possible without the help and support of our Athletics’ Director/coach, Ms. Frassa, head coaches Mr. Carbone and Mrs. Murphy, as well as the assistant coaches, Mr. Capone, Mr. Ingersoll and Mr. Morrow. Because of their hard work and commitment to the SAS Basketball Program, our players represented the school well on and off the court throughout the season. THANK YOU!

To mark the end of our basketball season, SAS Athletics, is hosting a banquet at the Moose Hall, in Malden, Thursday, April 14th, at 6:00pm, for our coaches, athletes, and their families. Tickets are still available, if you haven’t bought them yet, please do so ASAP.

SPRING BREAK

St. Anthony School will be closed for our spring break from April 18th - April 22nd. Classes will resume on Monday, April 25th.

STUDENTS’ LEARNING SHOWCASE Come and see what students are doing at SAS. On Wednesday, April 27th we are having a Students’ Learning Showcase. Parents will have the chance to visit classrooms and see the various topics being covered at each grade level.

To make things easier for everyone, we will have two sessions. The afternoon session will be held for Preschool and Kindergarten, from 1:00pm-1:45pm. Children will be dismissed at the end of the session.

The second session, for grades 1-8, will take place from 6:30pm-7:45pm. Students are to report to school, in full uniform, at 6:15pm. Doors will open at 6:30pm.

Patriots' Day 2016. The 241st Anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord.

Each year in mid-April, thousands of people visit historic Lexington and Concord and Minute Man National

Historical Park to celebrate Patriots' Day. Patriots' Day is a special Massachusetts State holiday commemorating

the opening battle of the American Revolutionary War, April 19, 1775.

The holiday (Officially observed on Monday, April 18, 2016), and the entire weekend, is celebrated with parades,

reenactments and commemorative ceremonies.

Sunday, April 17th

Warlike Preparations

Col. James Barrett House, 455 Barrett's Mill Road, Concord 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.

In 1775, Col. James Barrett of Concord was responsible for all the military supplies in town. On April 19th he and

his family found themselves in the middle of a storm of activity and danger as British soldiers occupied the town of

Concord and even searched the Barrett family home!. Visit the Barrett House and learn about the military

preparations that helped launch the colonies into the Revolutionary War.

Revolutionary Dogs: "Paws for the Cause!" at Minute Man Visitor Center

Route 2A, Lexington 2:00 p.m. 45 minutes in length

Join Park Ranger Roger Fuller and his pug, Cricket, in a forty-five minute walk on the Battle Road to explore the

lives of dogs in colonial America, and in the Revolution. The tour starts at Minute Man Visitor Center and goes to

Paul Revere Capture Site, about half a mile, with four stops along the way. The walk is open to all. You are

welcome to bring along your well-behaved, friendly dog, too.

Monday, April 18th (Patriots' Day observed) Lexington Battle Reenactment

Lexington Green 5:30 a.m.

The Town of Lexington celebrates the first shots of the American Revolution with a reenactment of the early-

morning engagement between the town's militia and the British regulars.

Commemoration of the North Bridge Fight, and Concord Parade

North Bridge, Concord 8:45 a.m.

British and Colonial reenactors will commemorate the "Shot heard round the world" with a dramatic re-staging of

the North Bridge fight featuring marching and musket fire. The Concord Parade will arrive at North Bridge around

9:30 a.m. with ceremonies featuring minute man companies, British reenactors and music groups. NOTE: all of the

roads in the center of town are closed to vehicles beginning at 8:30 a.m.
