The Swanton Town Selectboard is seeking applicants for the position of Road Foreman in the Town’sHighway Department. This is a full-time, 40 hour per week supervisory/working position with oversight ofthree full-time and one part-time employee. Benefits include paid vacation, retirement plan, sick leave, andhealth insurance. The Road Foreman is responsible for developing a weekly work schedule and the annualdepartment budget. The Road Foreman must be available for overtime work as required and attend aminimum of one Selectboard meeting per month. He or she must respond to all snow plowing operationsincluding scheduling snowplowing within 30 minutes during snow season as needed. The position answersto the Road Commissioner and the Selectboard.

Requirements: The Road Foreman must have a valid Class B Commercial Drivers License as well asexperience in town highway operations or related construction procedures and heavy equipment operationand maintenance. Must possess excellent organization, communication, and leadership skills. Must alsohave basic computer skills including the ability to type documents and send emails. The Foreman is alsoresponsible for maintaining records and invoices, assisting the Town Administrator in writing highwaygrants, maintaining records of equipment maintenance, and ensuring that all equipment is safe andoperable. Prior supervisory experience is desirable. This position requires and is conditional on satisfactoryresults from a pre-employment screening for drug and alcohol use as well as a probationary period. Thestarting rate and date will be determined by the Selectboard. The position will remain open until filled. TheTown of Swanton is an equal opportunity employer.
