wishes to Javier Padilla as he retires his position as our Liturgical Coordinator. Javier has participated in our parish
for over 17 years and will continue to be active as a parishioner. We are very grateful for all his hard work and efforts while he was here as the Liturgical Coordinator and
want to thank him for all he has done.
Thank you Javier! At this time we welcome back Jerry Perlongo who will be the
Liturgical Coordinator for our parish. Jerry has been our Liturgical Coordinator in the past and has remained active in
our parish. He has returned to the position of Liturgical Coordinator
Welcome back Jerry! We are currently looking for bids by
licensed contractors for the restoration of the parish parking lots.

GOSPEL MEDITATION - The Catechism of the Catholic Church gives four reasons for the Incarnation, why God became man in Jesus Christ. The third reason is “to be our model of holiness.” All of Jesus’ words and actions model for us what we ought to do. He also shows us how we’re meant to be. Jesus’ baptism ought to remind us of our own baptism and of the importance of baptism in the Christian life. The Baptism of the Lord reminds us of our Trinitarian identity. When we are baptized, we stand in solidarity with Christ, bathed in the waters he sanctified. There, the Father proclaims our adoption into the family of God. “‘This is my beloved son [this is my beloved daughter], with whom I am well pleased.’” And the Spirit, too, descends. We are filled with the Spirit’s grace and power to continue Christ’s mission on earth. We received these gifts in the sacrament, and they continue to dwell within us through sanctifying grace. We can — and should — invite God to stir up these graces of our baptism and consider them in our own lives. Does Christ feel like a distant relative two thousand years in the past? Or do you see him as someone who can be encountered here and now? Ask yourself where you find your sense of dignity and worth. Do you still search for it in success, social status, and selfish pursuits? Or are you able to rest in being a beloved child of God? Remember, baptism gives us a call and a charge to change the world. Do you pray for the Holy Spirit to guide you? Or are you so focused on your own life that you miss the mission? This week, let’s do as Jesus did. Let’s live in our baptism!

CSA Catholic Stewardship Appeal
In February of 2020 the new CSA Campaign will begin. You still have time to complete your 2019 pledge either by getting it to the parish office or diocesan office by the end of this month. We are happy to report that we have made our CSA goal for 2019 and have enough of the rebate back to begin looking for company bids for the
parking lot restoration project.
As of today we have $164,708.75 in pledges and $153,168.50 has been received from the 500 families participating out of the over 2000 registered families. Thank you for your
generous participation.

Recycle your Christmas and Holiday Cards
Please place your recycled Christmas cards in the box located in the back of the church. The box will be available beginning December 29th until January 12th 2020. The cards will be recycled into new Christmas cards and sold by the Confirmation program for their upcoming retreats and events.

LIVE THE LITURGY - The Baptism of Jesus is similar in purpose to our own. As
Jesus was distinguished as the beloved Son in whom God is well pleased, so, too, are we. We share that same special favor with God and are brought into an intimate relationship with
Him. Does this reality change how we feel about ourselves? It certainly does. Baptism forever changes us and calls us to the ministries of mercy and humility. God has formed each of us in our mother’s womb and asks
us to be a light for all people. We carry this
light humbly as we know who ultimately has a claim on us and
to whom we belong. We then are called to live our lives in
imitation of Christ and become incarnate vessels of mercy. Our world needs to be touched by compassion and only we can
complete the task.
The Parish offices will be closed on Monday, January 20th in observance
of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday.

The next ENGLISH BAPTISM CLASS is: January 13th at 6:30PM in Msrg. LaVoy Hall
A Pre-Baptism class is required by both parents and godparents. Godparents must be at least 16 years
old, have received the sacrament of confirmation and if married, they must be married in the Roman Catholic Church. The child must be no older then 6½ years old (if older, the child must be enrolled in catechism). Baptisms are held every Saturday at 10:00 AM in English and 11:30 AM in Spanish. The English class is held the second Monday of the month at 6:30 PM in Msgr. LaVoy Hall. We ask that you arrive on time and please do not bring your children. The Spanish class on the first Monday of the month at 6:30 PM in the church here at St. Francis de Sales. Please do not make travel or celebration plans until you have turned in
your completed Baptism packet into the Church office.
Marriages: Please do not set a marriage date before you consult a priest. Marriage requires six months of preparation. You must be a registered parishioner and attend a Marriage Preparation Course. You may contact the priest of your choice, or the next
available priest will assist in your preparation and officiate at your marriage. Our usual times for weddings are Saturdays at 1:30pm and 5:30 p.m. Weddings that will be taking place outside the United States require one year of preparation.
Anointing of the Sick: Please call the parish office during office hours if you or a member of your family seeks this Sacrament. Many people in various stages of illness can benefit by this Sacrament of Anointing. In case of hospitalization, please inform the
admissions office that you are a Catholic, or let your nurse know you would like to see a priest. The hospital will then inform the priest on duty.
Hospital/Home Communion: For Holy Communion, please contact the parish office during office hours. A Eucharistic Minister will visit you and attend to your needs. In case of hospitalization, please inform the
admissions office that you are a Catholic, so that they will be able to notify the Eucharistic ministers who are responsible for that hospital.
Funerals: Please contact a funeral director, a priest will coordinate with them to meet your needs. Assistance with music available upon request.

LA CORRESPONSABILIDAD DIARIA Lecciones de bautizar una rana Yo solía dirigir una sesión de RICA sobre el bautismo, donde traía mi juguete de la Rana Rene (Kermit the Frog) de cuando era niño y pretendía bautizarlo. Era una sesión que me aseguraba especialmente de dirigir cuando teníamos niños preparándose para los sacramentos de Pascua. Uno pensaría que la Rana Rene (Kermit) se habría vuelto súper santo al haber sido bautizado tantas veces, año tras año. Pero, si hubiera sido real, no habría sido más santo debido a múltiples bautismos de lo que fue después del primer bautismo. No podría haber sido rebautizado. (Sin mencionar, por supuesto, que es una RANA). Cuando Jesús vino a Juan para bautizarse, transformó el bautismo de arrepentimiento que Juan practicaba en un bautismo de redención. Y aunque estamos llamados al arrepentimiento una y otra vez en nuestra vida, la redención nos llega solo una vez. No podemos volver a bautizarnos en el Jordán o el Mar de Galilea debido a nociones románticas, o entrar a la Iglesia Católica por un segundo bautismo para que podamos comenzar de nuevo. Nuestro bautismo, lo podamos recordar o no, es un trato de una sola vez. Pero es el trato verdadero. Lo sientas o no, estás sellado para Cristo, y la mancha del pecado original ha sido lavada. Muchos de nosotros damos por hecho ese momento. Sí, puedes haber sido bautizado como un bebé. Pero ha pasado mucho tiempo desde entonces, y puedes trabajar para comprender el impacto que tuvo en tu vida. A veces buscamos un buen momento para comenzar a vivir una forma de vida de corresponsabilidad. Sin embargo, ese tiempo ya pasó, y Dios ha estado esperando. Estamos llamados a reflexionar sobre nuestro bautismo y responder al llamado que ha puesto en nuestras vidas. Podemos responder y ser discípulos, o podemos ser como la Rana Rene (Kermit the Frog), siempre buscando un nuevo comienzo que nunca llega.

INFORMACION DE BAUTISMO PROXIMA CLASE: La clase pre-bautismal en español será el 3 de febrero a las 6:30PM en el templo. La clase se impartirá en la Iglesia. No es necesario anotarse para tomar la clase. Habrá quien los anote
en la Iglesia el día de la clase.
REQUISITOS: 1.) Los niños deben ser menores de los 6 años y medio. Mayores de esta edad, los niños necesitan estar asistiendo al catecismo en preparación para el Bautismo y Primera Comunión. 2.) Les pedimos ser puntuales. Se principia esta clase con mucha puntualidad. 3.) Favor de no traer niños. La clase es para adultos y se necesita de mucha concentración para los puntos doctrinales. 4.) PADRINOS: los padrinos necesitan ser católicos practicantes; haber recibido sus sacramentos incluyendo la confirmación; si viven juntos como pareja, deben estar casados por la iglesia; ser mayores de los 16 años; tomar la clase pre-bautismal. * Los bautismos se celebran cada Sábado a las 11:30 am en español. Para apartar la fecha de bautismo necesita traer a la oficina los comprobantes de la clase pre-bautismal de los padres y los padrinos, el certificado de nacimiento del niño, la tarifa explicada en la clase y el sobre que recibió en la clase COMPLETO Y FIRMADO por los dos padres.
Nota Especial: Por Favor no hagan preparaciones de invitaciones o fiesta hasta haber apartado la fecha en la oficina.
