PROPAGATION OF THE FAITH 2nd Collection for weekend of April 28 & April 29 , 2018 “As part of the annual Missionary Co Operative
Program Msgr. William P. Fay, Ph. D. will speak
next weekend at Mass about The Society for
Propagation of the Faith, one of the four Pontifical
Mission Societies represented here in the
Archdiocese of Boston. Msgr. Fay will share stories
of his experiences in the missions, and help us build
a spiritual connection to others whose daily lives
may be very different from ours. The Society of the
Propagation of the Faith is the official mission
agency of the Catholic Church dedicated to assisting
and supporting lay people, priests, and religious in
their evangelizing mission work. May our hearts
and ears be opened by the Holy Spirit to support
and pray for all missionaries and people they serve
in the missions.”

COMMUNITY NEWS
April 22 ~ Fourth Sunday of Easter “I am the good shepherd, I know mine and mine know me.” These words from today’s Gospel hold both comfort and
challenge! Are we willing to respond to what Christ asks of us? We are not asked to “go it alone.” We have the
promise of Christ’s presence as we go out to others and share the “Good News.” Take time this week in prayer to
listen to the voice of our Good Shepherd and ask for the grace to be responsive to His call.
A Great BIG Thank You to Cindy Canavan for another successful Ladies Prize Bingo !
Twice a year Cindy single handedly volunteers her time coordinating such a fun night out !!

Come yourself or bring a friend.
4th Sunday of Easter Soap operas, reality shows and movies portray an image of love that is all but impossible: young and beautiful people, overcoming all odds, having the perfect life, and living happily ever after. People are so needy and so starved for love that even a shallow imitation of love will hold their attention and their emotions. The tragedy occurs when that version becomes for some people a real life goal and they miss out on the real thing. It’s difficult at times to appreciate just how much God loves us. We can only think in the narrow, limited view of human weakness where love can be conditional or selfish or withheld. But there is nothing fake or artificial about the love that Jesus offers. It is a love that is unconditional, forgiving, healing and life-giving. He gives it freely and willingly, proving His love for us on the cross. He patiently waits for us to say yes, to accept His gift and to love Him in return. Jesus portrays Himself as the Good Shepherd, one who lays down his life for his sheep. He will never leave us, or give up on us, or abandon us. Nothing can change the fact that God calls us His children. We share forever in the grace and glory of God, who creates us in His own image and gives us His life. Through Him, we are healed, forgiven and saved. We are loved just as we are, imperfect though we may be. Could God do more to prove He loves us?
