The following is a mini-tutorial on MIXED CONDITIONALS. Once you have completed the tutorial, you

are ready to do the practice exercises.

We have looked at the structures for ero, first, second and third conditionals! however conditional

sentences do not always fall into these patterns. "ometimes they are mixed . This means that a past

event has a result that continues in the present. When this happens, you will see the form of the third

conditional in the if   clause and the form of the second conditional in the result clause. #ook at these

examples:

If you hadn’t spent  so much money, you wouldn’t be broke now

If he hadn’t robbed  the bank, he wouldn’t be in prison now

If I had eaten lunch, I wouldn’t be hungry now
