11th Annual Symposium

PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONThis CME activity will focus on reviewing current knowledge and advances in multimodality imaging that impact the detection and management of cardiovascular disease in the fetus, child and adult. The format will include lectures, case presentations, interactive panel discussions and hands-on imaging workshops.

The focus for fetal cardiovascular assessment will include assessment of fetal hemodynamic derangements in non-primary cardiac disease, latest advances in early gestation and 3D fetal imaging and imaging predictors of disease severity/outcomes in common fetal cardiac lesions. A session on cardiovascular health will review the non-invasive assessment of vascular and myocardial health in the setting of chronic cardiovascular conditions, aortopathies and lymphatic abnormalities. Dedicated sessions on pulmonary atresia with intact ventricular septum and congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries will be devoted to the imaging assessment and impact on management of these lesions, from fetal life through adulthood.

The workshops will focus on standard fetal cardiac and hemodynamic assessment.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVESAt the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

n Understand the fetal hemodynamic derangements associated with non-primary cardiac disease, including technical means of assessing by non-invasive imaging and potential fetal interventions

n Describe the latest in fetal cardiac imaging, including technical advances, advanced functional assessment, early gestation, 3D imaging and counseling

n Describe the latest science in fetal predictors of congenital heart disease severity and outcomes, including how to perform appropriate imaging assessment

n Identify the adverse health impacts of childhood onset of adult cardiovascular diseases and review non-invasive means of assessing cardiovascular health

n Accurately diagnose and assess fetal and post-natal predictors of outcome in pulmonary atresia with intact ventricular septum and utilize appropriate imaging over time to inform management

n Accurately diagnose and assess fetal and post-natal predictors of outcome in congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries and utilize appropriate imaging over time to inform management

WHO SHOULD ATTENDPhysicians, trainees, sonographers, nurse practitioners and physician assistants in the fields of congenital cardiology, obstetrics, perinatal medicine and radiology.
