How the Writing lab can help you:
The UNT Writing Lab offers free writing tutoring to all UNT students, both undergraduate and graduate students. You can meet with a tutor in person in the Writing Lab (Auditorium building), or you can have an online tutoring session, which allows you to discuss your paper and ask questions that you may have about your paper, make sure that you have an Internet connection before your scheduled time.
You can come in to the main location with or without an appointment. There are walk -‐ins from 5-‐9pm Monday-‐ Thursday. You will need an appointment for the online tutoring.

Workshops: Each semester, we hold free workshops on a variety of topics, including:
• Thesis Statements • Structuring Arguments • Commas • Job Letters • Resumes • APA Style and Citations • Revision • Technical Communication Style • MLA Citations
Online Tutoring: We offer online tutoring:
• Monday to Thursday from 9:15 AM to 4:00 PM
• Friday from 9:15 AM to 3:00 PM • To make an online tutoring appointment,
you are able to either come by the Writing Lab, call us at (940) 565-‐2563. To schedule your appointment online go to: www.ltc.unt.edu/writinglabappointments, or email us at [email protected].
• We recommend you schedule an appointment via email 24 hours in advance.
The Information That Will be Needed to Schedule an Appointment:
• Time and date you want to schedule your session
• UNT student ID# • Class for which you’re writing the paper • Your email address • List of questions you want to discuss with
the tutor • Digital copy of the paper
When Your Online Tutoring Sessions is About to Begin:
• Open your email, • Look for an email from the tutor, • Click on the link to ShowDocument.com, • Click on the link to open the session, • Look in the chat box for your paper and a
greeting from the tutor • Participate in your session by asking
questions and giving feedback
How to Become a Tutor: The UNT Writing Lab is always looking for new talent. Come by the Writing Lab in AUDB 105 to apply to become a tutor.

• Schedule an interview • Provide a copy of your most recent
transcript • Demonstrate good writing skills • Enjoy working with other students • Submit a completed application • Have and maintain a GPA of 3.5 or
higher • Provide one copy of an essay (3-‐6
pages long) that you have written for a class. Please include the grade you received, as well as any comments from the professor
