2. Protection Scheme
Differential protection is set as a main protection which is have a duplicate protection interface channel (2Mbit/s).
Back up Distance is set for 4 zone quad characteristic for both phase and earth faultsi. Set Zone 1 Forward direction to cover 85% of the total line impedance, zone 1 will trip instantaneous but activate when both Main 1 and Main 2 protection relay fail or total communication channel fail.
ii. Set Zone 2 Forwad direction to cover 120% of the total line impedance. Delay 0.30s.
iii. Set Zone 3 Forward direction to cover 180% of the total line impedance. Delay 0.9s.
iv. Set Zone 4 Reverse direction to cover 40% of the total line impedance. Delay 1.0s.
v. Enable VT supervision blocking of distance protectionvi. Enable power swing blocking (PSB)
vii. Enable distance SOTF to trip fault upon energizing.Note: No carrier for distance protection.
Back up Directional Earth Fault is set to trip on delay 2.00s without carrier, instead of instantaneous trip with carrier received. All backup protection trip such as distance operate, DEF operate, CBF operate, OC operate and BBP operate will initiate direct intertrip send to remote end via signal protection interface Main 1 relay and Main 2 relay.
