L ABORATORY APPARATUS

APPARATUS USES

Bunsen burner -The Bunsen burner is mainly used for heating things.

-During a heating process, avoid from direct contact with

heated apparatus.

Beaker The following is a list of the uses of a beaker: -- A beaker is an apparatus used as a container for liquids.

- A beaker is used to transfer liquids to another apparatus.

-The beak-shaped mouth of a beaker helps to avoid spilling.

-A beaker is used as a simple measuring tool.

-A beaker is used as a container for small objects and

materials.-A beaker is used in heating experiments and activities.

-A beaker is made from glass. Be careful when handling it.

When using a beaker, avoid breaking and overheating a glass

beaker.

USING A BUNSEN BURNER ( page 10 )

Use a lighter or match to light up a

Bunsen burner. Remember to light up the

match before you turn on the gas.

Use a test tube holder when heating

solutions in a test tube. Do not point the

mouth of the test tube to yourself or your

friends.

USING A BUNSEN BURNER (  page 10)

Use a tripod stand and wire gauze when

heating chemicals in a beaker or crucible.
