SECTION 1 – GENERAL

1.0 INTENE & DEFINITIONS

This specification together witn the GA drawing No:C4157/G-1 is

intended to describe the construction of a Accommodation/Demick

Pipelay Barge completely outfitted and equipped for pipelay,demick work

and other related duties.It will be classed to American Bureau of Shipping

as a Barge for Unrestricted Services and will comply with the regulations

of the Malaysian Flag Authority

THE FOLLOWING TERMS IN THESE SPECIFICATIONS SHALL

When the term “Owner”is used herein it shall mean SUPERIOR

ENERGY SERVICES

Inspector or Owner’s Rspresentative

Inspector or Owner’s Rspresentative’’ is used,it shall be understood to be

a person or member of the organization designated bu the Owner for that

particular duty.

Builder

Where the term”Builder”isshall be understood to mean the Consortium to

whom the Contract will be awarded and who shall have the responsibility

for the design,engineering,consturction,outfitting,installation,testing and

delivery of the Vessel.

Regulatorv Bodiles

Where the term Regulatory Bodies is used,it shall be understood to be

ABS and the Authority of the Country of Registry(Malaysia),under whose

regulations the Vessel is registered and to comply with.

Vessel

Where the term “Vessel”is used it shall be understood to be

Accommodation/Demick Pipe Lay Barge of which the design,technical

requirements and construction details are defined in these Technical

Specifications.

Vendor

Any firm or agent who manufactures or sells materials,equipment and / or

services used for the Vesse

Subontractor

Firms engaged by Builder to perform part of the Work under the Contract

Owner Fumished Equipment(OFE)

All materials,equipment or services,which will be supplied by Owner to

be the Builder.These are specified in the OFE list,Appendix A

Builder Furnished Equipment(BFE) All materials,equipment or

services,which will be supplied by the Builder,to construct the Vessel。

Install

Where the term “install”is used in rclation to any matcrials or

equipment,it means that those materials or equipment will be

checked,shored,handled,mounted on the Vessel and connected by

theBuilder,regardless whether the mentioned materials or equipment are

supplied by Owner(as under Appendix A)or by Builder

Installation shall specifically take into account:

- Configuration,weight,dynamic loading of the materials or equipment

- Recommendations from Manufacturer

- Access for operation and maintenance

- Vcntilation,heating,cooling if so required

- Power supply,drainage ctc.as required

- Interfacing when required.

Builder shall verify the scope of the Manufacturers and OFE to

detwemine the interfaces for proper installation and operations of

materials or equipment.Builder shall prepare an interface management

procedure for all new equipment and materials。

Provide

Where the term “provide”or provided is used in relation to any materials

or equipment,it shallmean that those materials or equipment will be

delivered by the Builder,except for the OFE,and installed in accordance

with the fore-mentioned definition。

It shall also cover workmanship as necessary to comply with Builder’s

obligations。

Fumish

Where the term “fumish”is used it shall be understood that the Builder

shall fumish and Install the reference material and/or equipment at the

Builder’s expense even if only one of these words is used,except when it

is specifically mentioned as Owner’s supply,in which case the Builder

shall install same with all necessary foundations,piping,wining etc as

required

Foundations

Where the term “foudation”is used in relation to any materials or

equipment to be installed on the Vessel,it shall mean that the Builder shall

design,provide and install the necessary materials to properly seat the

equipment on the vessel,including all and any work to transfer the static

and dynamic loads into the Vessel’s structure and comply with the

requirements for vibration suspension if applicable

Tchnical data for the foundation design,mechanical and electrial systems

interface of OFE shall be supplied by Owner to the Builder no later than

30 days after contract signing

Approval

Approval means approved by the Owner and Regulatory Bodies and

“APPROVED”means approval

Completion

Means the completion of the work when the Owner’s APPROVAL and

final acceptance of WORK is obtained

Work

Means Scope of Work,all the facilities,goods,equipment

materials(whether temporary or permanent) and/or services and

obligations required to be furnished or performed by the Builder under

the Contract.

1.3 CLASSIFICATION

The vessel is to be constructed,machinery installed and equipment and

spare gear provided in accordance with the latest Rules for Building &

Classification of Steel Barges 2003 to American Burcau of

1.4 REGISTRY

The owners are responsible for the registration of the vessel including all

Statutory exemptions require for completion of construction

(e.g.Lifeboat,Bow Height,if neccsary).The Flag Adminstration shall be

1.6 CERTIFICATES

All necessary certification issued by Classification Society and

Regulatory Bodies in accordance with the proceeding paragraph, together

with the following certificates supplied by the Builder, are to be handed

over to the Owner in a timely manner during the delivery of the vessel:

1) Builders Certificate

2) Classfication certificates(hull and machinery)

3) Tonnage cerficate,1969&PanamaCanal tonnage

4) Laoding certificate for manned barge

5) Predenting pollution certificate

6) Derating certificate

7) The other certigicates required by classfication or flag authotity

8) Mooring winth & anthor test certificate(statementof fact to be issued

by ABS)

9) Asbestos certificate by shipyard

10) NOX(Marpol annex 4) for diesel engines(statementof fact to be

issued by ABS)

11) Certificates for all work wires

12) Radio Telephony Certificate

13) Safety Construction Certificate

The cost of all fees and charges incurred for survey, classfication and

issue certificates are to be borne by the builder。

1.7 MATERIALS&WORKMANSHIP

a) All materials and workmanship are to be of good quality and marine

practice, All steel plates All cables, fastenings, shackles, rigging,

winch cables, sheave blocks and light fittings to be made of materials

which have been tested, approved and certified where applicable.

Standord to be of J.S.QS.

b) All woods used to be suitable for intended purpose and good

quality.all timber to be free from knots and seasoned.

c) All smith or fabraticated fittings to be of neat design strong,smooth&

free from defects.

d) All castings to be of good quatity,close grained and free from all

cracks ,blow holes and other defects

Steel castings are approved and certified where applicable.

1.8 WELDING

The vessel is to be of all steel welded construction, and should comply

with the requirement of contract plans and specificatons &

classification.antomatic welding should be used as far as posssible.

Welding shall be in accordiance with classification requirements. All steel

shall be good welding quatity.free from laminations or other harmful

defects and be class approved.electrondes shall be selected from class

apprved lists.welding schedules to meet classification

requirement/standard. High standard of up-to–date weilding practice or

procedures are to be applied.associated with accurate

alignment,fainess ,edge preparationand gap widths.

1.9 INSPECTION AND SUPERVISION

Thoughout the construction period prior to delivery, the surveyors

owner’s representative and consutants are to be given free access to the

builder’ yard during normal working hours for inspection.shipyard to

provided cleanliness during constraction period.

1.10 TEST

Prior to delevery,the hull, all

machinery ,electrical,piping,allnavigation/communication and deck

machinery,domestic equipment etc. are to be tested in the presence of

classification’s attending surveyor,owner/or other representative

1.11 INCLINING EXPERIMENT

When the vessel has reached a sufficiently advanced stage of

construction, andonly minor work remains to be completed, the

lightweight and vertical and horizontal centres of gravity of the vessel are

to be determined by means of an inclining experiment. The inclining

experiment is to be attended by the Owner or his representative and also

the regulatory authorities. During the inclining experiment, the vessel

shall be in a suitable condition approved by the Owner or his

representative. No loose water or oil is to be on board and all shipyard

equipment, rubbish, etc is to be removed. Based on the results a stability

report is to be prepared by the consulants.

1.12 DOCK TRIALS

Upon completion the vessel,the follow trials are to be carry out:

1) All piping systems shall be fully tested, including the checking of

valve nameplates.

2) Electrcal power plants with all lights

3) Auxiliary machinery

4) Ventilations, refregaration machinery.

6) Air condition machinery

7) All pumps,etc.

All systems and equipments shall be subjected to function check and test

in accordance with class before vessel’s delivery.

furnished by builder.

1.13 BARGE TRIALS

8 points anchoring trial/test is to be conducted to enssure the mooring

winches and other equipment /system ,etc are in operating condition

and record.builder to test only the bow sets of owner furnished

winches.the owner/superior shall test the stern sets winches at

shipyard wharf.

Owner is to supply two complete sets of Double Drum Mooring Winches

and the associated Controls and Power Equipment necessary to fully

operate the mooring winche

Shipyard is to supply support services necessary for the proper operation

of the Owner Furnished Equipment during this testing.The shipyard not

responsible for performance of the equipment,but only the supporting

systems supplied by the shipyard under this contract

Pipe Lay equipment trials are to be conducted by the Owner/Superior in

accordance with the requirements and specifications for the Owner

the builders’scope of work

Shipyard is to supply support services necessary for the proper operation

of the Owner Furnished Equipment during this testing.The shipyard not

responsible for performance of the equipment,but only the supporting

systems supplied by the shipyard under this contract.

1.14 DELIVERY

Delivery of the vessel is to be taken afloat adjacent at the builders’yard or

oter mutually agreeable location and all

tanks,compartments,bilge,accommodation and other space arce etc shall

be cleaned and free of all dunnage and dirt.

1.15 DRAWINGS

On completion,three(3) sets of up-dated construction/engineering

drawing in hard copy and two(2) sets of the following drawings as

approved and n classificationm, are to be supplied:and all the

SECTION 2-STRUCTURE

2.0 GENERAL

The steel hull and deckhouse are to be of all welded

construction,Longitudinal framing system is to be used throughout,The

following scantlings are for guidance only and will be subjected to class

final approval.

2.1 BOTTOM CONSTRUCTION

Engine room,winch compartments and workshop/store to be completely

above double bottom construction.

2.2 SHELL PLATING

The bottom and side plating are to be longitudinally plated,to have

welded butts and seams and having the following thickness:

The WT/OT bulkheads are to be 10&12mm plated horizontally as on the

drawing.

2.8 DECKHOUSE

The deckhouse’s plating to be 10mm at lower decks and 8mm on higher

2.9 OUTFRITING(EXPOSED AREA)

All the external hatches,doors,air-vent,ladders,flanges,lighting and

equipment seating etc shall be stainless steel bolt and nuts.Handrail to be

6”pipe on top and 4”pipe at lower tier vertical stanchion to 6”pipe

2.10 FENDERS

Each side of the vessel and the transom is to be protected by chafing bars

of timber fender panels of approx.3m depth and 4.0m wide above

lightship waterline.Appropriate additional tire fenders of suitable size(s)

to be installed to prevent damage when mooring

The wooden fender shall be constructed of 1ft square hardwood suitably

treated,and be secured by gal-vanised steel bolts and angle iron. The

vessel side structure is to be suitably reinforced in way of the fenders.

2.11 LASHING LUGS

2.12 PIPE& CABLE TUNNEL

A pipe & cable tunnel to be arranged under deck along centre line of

vessel。

2.13 FIRE LINE SHELTER

A pipe lay fire line shelter shall be arranged on the Main Deck of the

vessel along the stbd side of the vessel to be fabricated of Steel Structural

support complete with a steel roof capable of storage of small deck

gear(~3tons/m2)and light weight steel sides that effectively shield the

pipe laying operations from wind and weather.

SECTION 3- ACCOMMODATION AND STRUCTURE 3.0

ACCOMMODATION

Vessel shall be equipped with Accommodations for at least 300-people.

3.1 INSULATION

The type of bulkheadead between adjacent spaces in a vertical or

horizontal direction is to follow the guidelines for structural fire integrity

detailed elswhere in this specification,but in no instance is it to fall below

the standards laid out in the latest SOLAS. Requirements and

amendments thereof.and all insulation generally described below is to be

in accordance with the 1974 SOLAS Convention and the 1981 and 1983

amendments.

Insulation materials are to be non-combustible rock wool having density

of approx.100kg/cu.m.

Rockwool slabs of 50mm-100mm thick are to be laid all over

accommodation as relevant for air-conditioning and noise

control,warehouse deckhaed,engine room deckhaed,winch

compartments,etc.

Rockwool slabs are to be properly secured into the steel surface by maens

of welded galvanised wires with galvanised clips at the ends.

Ceiling in way of stores,forward engine room and forward winch

compartments etc are to be covered with galvanised sheets(secured

properly by small angle bars)after insulation.

3.2 PANELLING AND CEILING

All material to comply with the SOLAS 1974 requirements and the 1981

and 1983 amendments,and the structural fire integrity requiremens.

All panelling and ceiling material are to be good quality marine boards of

soft core type.Choice of colour and pattem are to be decided by

Owner.No screws must be cisible for the finished panelling and ceiling.

For toilets/shower spaces,steel panels and ceiling should be properly

painted and partition panels shall be of suitable material for wet space.

Ceiling is to be extended owner the complete accommodation area.The

ceiling height below main deck is to be such that the clear headroom is

obtained as at least 2.20M.Adequate hinged service hatches are to be

provided wherever necessary for access to the junction boxes and other

instructions for maintenance

Removable access covers for maintenance of equipment and plumbing

shall be provided in way of joiner bulkheads and ceiling panels.

3.3 DECK COVERING

Etemal deck is to be painted as specified in relevant sections.

In way of accommodation and other relevant areas,the deck is to be laid

with Semtex type or equivalent deck composition of 8mm thickness

finished with good quality sheets(heavy duty).Aluminium skirting are to

be provided around the bulkheads all over.

Pattem type and colour of sheets to be to Owner’s choice and approval.

All wash places,galleys and other relevant areas to be laid with ceramic

tiles(100X200mm)embedded on 50-75mm thick cement reinforced with

chicken wire mesh.Tiles are to be well-covered up at side(at least

200mm)and coving to be covered with matching small tiles.Proper

sealing arrangment is to be provided so that no water drips behind the

panelling.Proper flexibility shall be ensured to avoid cracking.

Before the deck covering is laid in the wash places,all pipe connections

are to be completed and the steel deck tested for water tightness by

flooding to coaming height.

All surfaces and levels are to be properly done to the full satisfaction of

Owner’s repersentative.

3.4 WINDOWS AND SIDELIGHTS

All windows are to have weldable steel frames in general and those on

higher floors with bolted frams for easy cleaning.Frames for the glass are

to be of anodised aluminium alloy.The windows are to be glazed in

12mm thick clear toughened glass except the windows in the Office and

control room which are to be double glazed toughened glass.Provision is

to be made for the collection and drainage of water leaking through the

window frames.

Necessary walkway outside to be fited for cleaning of windows,where

applicable.

All sidelights are to have weldable steel frames.and to be glazed in

toughened glass,and are to be fitted with deadlights,All sidelights are to

be of the hinged type,arranged to hinged upwards with securing hooks

fitted over.Provision is to be made for the collection and disposal of any

water leaking through the sidelights.

3.5 DOORS

All extemal doors are to be weather tight type steel doors.All doors

fittings are to be of solid construction.Door stopper,ajar hooks,means for

securing in open position,lugs for padlock are to be fitted for all doors.

Fire rated internal doors are to be fitted for all areas facting

passageway,in way of cabins,offices,etc.

All internal doors will be fitted with kick-out type air-conditioned

louvres(size 400X300mm)with open/close device,Doors will be complete

with lock-set,hook,stopper and door closer.

Fire retarding doors laminated with low flame spread formica sheets on

both sides are to be fitted in toilet areas.

Doors in way of galleys and fire zones are to have A-60 fire rating。

3.6 LOCKS

All doors,cuphoards,lockers,drawers,etc are to be fitted with locks of

approved type and duplicate keys for each lock are to be supplied。

Three master keys to be provided for all cabins,passageways and all

extemal doors.

3.7 NAMEPLATES(OUTFITING)

In way of accommadation,all cabins and compartments are to fitted with

plastic engraved name plates(screwed type)。

All external name plates to fitting and compartments are to be of brass.。

All necessary signs,arrows,notices etc are to be provided。

Afull list complete with locations are to be submitted to Owner’s

representative for approval.

3.8 ACCOMMODATION-GENERAL

The accommodation layout shall include the following as a minimum:

An accommodation deckhouse will be arranged on main deck forward,for

housing of a total complement of at least 300 persons,in single,double

and 4-persons cabins as indicated on drawings showing Accommodation

Arrangements。

On the top deck of the accommodation,the control room will be

cabins,mess room,bridge and all other spaces,Passage ways within the

3.9 CABINS

Cabins located as per the General Arrangement drawing are to be fitted

out in accordance with the following details,and arranged to provide

or shared toilet/shower facility.

3.9.1 FOUR-BERTH CABINS

Each 4-berth cabin is to be fitted out with the following:

- 2.8m2 of deck arca and 6m3 of volume per each occupant

- 4 bunks,in double tier of hard smooth material with two drawers

under each lower berth,minimum 2.9m X 0.9m,Lower tier shall be

at least 300mm above the deck.The bottom of the upper tier shall

be at least 760mm from the bottom of the berth below it and from

the deck.

- 22.5cm thick spring mattresses of non-rot material such that it will

not hardbour vermin.

- Berth light for eath bunk Curtain rail and fire retardant curtain for

Adequate number of dining tables with receptacles for condiment and

sauce bottles at their centre line.

Out-fitting to include the following items in the mess room,but not

limited to :

- One off electric coffee urn,double tank commercial type

- One off twin-tank drink dispenser

- One off hot water dispenser1

- Two off electric toaster(4 solts type )

3.13 FREEZER,CHILLER & PROVISION STORES

The freczer/chiller room is subdiveded into meat,fish and vegetable

rooms to be adequately sized for 300-persons.

The sides and deckhead insulation is to be of polyuethane foam,or

rockwool boards,of sufficient thickness and density to maintain the

following conditions in the rooms,with the refrigeration units running

intermittently:

Freezer Room minus 20 degreeC

Chiller Room minus 3 degreeC

wo air-cooled non-CFC R134a refrigeration units are to be supplied to

maintain the conditions described,one unit in service,and one unit on

standby.

Four roller unit coolers are to be provided for the rooms,two for each

unit.

The interior of the rooms is to be stainless steel ,with a deck of 50mm

thick cement covered with red quarry tiles,with sufficient gutters and

scuppers to efficiently drain the space.

Three-tier staindless steel shelves are to be arranged around the

rooms,with wooden side battens.

Entrance to the freezer room and chiller room is via the provision store.

connected to control room or duty space.

3.14 DRY PROVISION STORES

They are to be fitted out with the following and adequately sized for

300-person:

- 3tier aluminium sparred shelves,with storm battens

- Sparring on bulkheads at the back of the shelves

- Ceramic tiles laid on the floor

- Stainless steel rice containers

3.15 STORES-GENERAL

General stores are shown on the various levels of the accommodation,for

the storage of linen and cleaning aquipment.

Each store is to be fitted with three wth tier wooden shelves and storm

battens.

3.16 PAINT STORE

A paint store with door lock,shelves and forced ex-proof extraction fan

3.18 LAUNDRY/DRYING ROOM

One central laundry room is to be arranged on main deck.. The

These are two (2) offices dedicated for the use of oil company personnel

and contractoes working on the barge provided on main deck & B deck,

Size shall be 5m X 5m each.

- Two (2) visitor chairs

3.22 NAVIGATION/RADIO ROOM ANF BRIDGE CONTROL

ROOM

These rooms are to be fitted out with sufficient desktop space to

accommodate the equipment listed anf furniture suppficient for normal

operations in these spaces.Two chairs are for operator.

The vessel’s minimum of two ‘private talk’ lines talk back system shall be

installed shroughout the Barge with the main control at the radio control

room and chareterer’s rep.office. Minimum number of stations shall be:

The main deck to be sheathed with(2)two hard wood of 75mm thick

layers each,and to be fully coated with coal tar or other owner approved

coatings system before laying down the wood.

3.25 HELIDECK

A helideck capable of the reception of a S.61N shall be provided.

It shall be defined as a high frequency landing helideck,of all welded

steel construction and be recatangular in shape.

In general the scantlings are to be to the classification societies

requirement,except where specifically strengthened for the loadings

specified,and welding of underdeck members to be double continuous.

The helideck shall be sufficiently large to contain a circle of suitable for

S.61N helicopter,It shall be fitted with the necessary lightings,escape

routes,fire fighting and safety equipment.

Helideck to be fitted with appropriate non-skid coating system.No

refuelling facilities shall be required.

3.26 PRAYER ROOM

Prayer room to be installed within accommodation space.Room to be

carpeted and aquipped with compass.

3.27 CONFENCE ROOM

Conference room to be within the accommodation space.Room to be

suitable size to accommodate 20-persons.

3.28 STOREROOM-ELECTRONICS

Air-conditioned storeroom to be installed below the Main Deck

level.Room to have independent air conditioning machinery.Room shall

be appropriate insulated and have means for secured access.Room to be

equipped with appropriate shelving to store sensitive electric and

electronic spare,consumables and squipment.

3.29 STOREROOM-WELDING CONSUMABLES

De-humidified storeroom to be installed below the Main Deck

level.Room to have independent source of de-humidification.Room shall

be appropriate insulated and have means for secured access.Room to be

equipped with approproate shelving to store.welding consumables.

All steel surfaces are to be shot-blasted and primed prior to fabrication.

Steel surfaces to be free of grease, dust, etc prior to painting. The welding

Average currenty dencity of 12.5 MA/ m2 and %100 ballast radio

and %90 anode efficiency.

Section5 DECK MACHINERY&EQUIPMENT

5.0 Deck machinery and equipment

5.1 MOORING SYSTEM

The vessel shall be fitted out with a complete mooring system including

anchor winches, anchor lines, sheaves, fairleads, tension meters, pennant

lines, buoys and all necessary associated equipmen, It will have a

minimum of eight (8) point mooring with mooring system winches below

main deck in an enclosed area. Anchor wires shall not cross any part of

the clear deck space.

Owner furnished eqipment shall incalude fore double drum mooring

winched (about 6.5X4.5X4M)hadraulic power units. 8 duide sheaves with

tension metrers.local control station and remote control station.

Builder furnished equipment shall include the following items

appropriately sized for 52mm wire rope and 100 ton line pull:

- 8 fairleads

- 16 turning sheaves or a quantity sufficient to appropriately lead the

mooring wires to the faileads based upon the final position of the

winches .

- 8 bouys

- Pendant lines

Builder shall install and connect the owner furnished mooring system.

Anchor wires shall not cross any part of the clear deck space.

5.1.1 ANCHORS

Mooring anchors of 12 tonnes Delta Flipper(pattern only and made in

China)type to be fitted.

The anchors are to be fitted with swivel shackles and wire.

5.1.2 MOORING WINCHES & WINCH CONTROLS

Builder to install 2 sets of Double Drum mooring winches in the Bow

section of the barge below the Main Deck Level in way of the living

quarters.Builder shall also all furnished control stations mechanical and

electrical power syatems necessary for the full functional operation of

these two sets of mooring winche.

Supplier shall deliver the complete 2 sets of the mooring Winch System

to the Builder’s Shipyard in China no later than 6-months after of

contract.

Builder shall design and install all structural foundations,mechanical and

electrical interfaces for the all 4sets of Owner Furnished Mooring

Winches.The builder shall not be responsible for the installation and

commissioning of the 2 sets of winches located at the stem section of the

barge.

5.1.4 TENSION SHEAVES

Owner shall furnish 8 sets of Tension sheaves for installation into the

mooring system.Builder shall install the structural foundation and the

electrical cabling by the manufacturer for operation of these tension

sheaves.

5.1.5 FAIRLEADS(UNIVERSAL)

8 off universal fairleaders are to be supplied and installed by the Builder.

The fairleaders are to be deck mounted type and to be designed withstand

breaking strength of 52mm dia.wire rope with 90 degress wrap on sheave.

Builder is to fabricate base frame(blasted and painted)and to install after

proper line-up.

5.1.6 WIRE ROPES

建 Builder shall furnish 8 sets 0f 52mm Wire Rope 1500m long

each.Builder shall only install 4-wire ropes onto the owner furnished

winches in the bow section of the barge.The other 4-sets of wire rope

shall be shipped loose.

5.2 TUGGER WINCH-TOWING BRIDLE

1X10T tugger winch to be installed at forward deck for the retrieval of

towing bridle and shall include the installation of an approproately sized

A-Frame with associated tackle to retrieve the bridle and fish plate.

5.3 TOWING GEAR

Towing bridle consisting of 2X2.16” dimeter X 60 ft lengh stud link

china toghter with SMIT brackets and fairleads.

The tugger winch to be applicable for bridle recovery.

Emergency towing bridle to be provided in accordance with requirements

of classification society.

5.4 MAIN CRANE(Owner supply) option

A fabricated main is to be fitted on the deckhouse top.Mast shall

incorporate seats for navigation equipment and communication

antenna,Safe access shall be fitted for possible access to seats.

ensure non-interference to helicopter’s approach.

5.7 PIPELAY EQUIPMENT

All pipelay equipment shall be furnished by the owner,The Builder shall

be responsible to design the structural foundations for each piece of

equipment,design the mechanical and electrical systems interface into the

barge systems, and install both the structural,mechanical and electrical

systems to a point where the owner furnished equipment can be installed

at a later date and hooked up by the owner/Superior.Equipment shall be

arranged as follows and shall be approved by the owne.

Single joints are stored on the main deck,Single joins are transferred from

the storage area(or directly from the supply barge)by a deck crance onto a

longitudinal pipe roller system,with guide standchions,that feeds the pipe

into the beveling station,The pipe istransferred by means of transfer

devices to the beveling transverse conveyor.The beveling station prepares

the single joints with main line bevels,Bevel machines and bevel machine

lifting equipment shall be provided by owner,The beveling area is to be

covered by a shelter or under the accommodation module, Beveled pipes

are transferred by means of transfer devices to anther transeverse

conveyor system(Ready rack)where the bevels are preheated for purposes,

The pipe is then transferred by means of transfer devices to the line up

station.

The joint is welded to the pipe string by means of 4 welding stations after

which it passes the first tensioner and a NDT station for check..Then via

aft tensioner the pipe passes the corrosion coationg/blasting station and

dope station and is fed overboard on the stinger.

The pipe is held with tension provided by two 60(mt) tensioners.

Abandoment and recovery of the pipeline shall be by means of a 150mt A

& R system located on the deck.

The pipe leaves the Vessel over a fixed stinger.Stinger will be handled by

a stinger adjuster system.The Stinger system will be furnished by the

owner.

5.7.1 FIRING LINE SHELTER - To be designed,fabricated and

installed by the builder

The firing line is fully covered and shall be sufficiently ventilated to

ensure that the weld fumes are vented away, but not to disturb the

welding.

False floors with heavy duty cover to be provided in the firing line.

SECTION 6—SAFTY& NAVIGATION

6.1 FIRE PROTECTION & DETECTION

he design and selection of all materials/equipment to be such that

efficient fire and safety philosophy in accordance with good offshore fire

engineering practice is maintained.All equipment used are to be well

proven in service,and are to be compliance with the Pules of SOLAS

1974,all subsequent smendments and other such Regulations indicated in

this specification.

Full system is to be designed ,installed and commissioned by reputable

supplier.

6.1.1 FIRE DETECTION SYSTEM

This system is to comprose of smoke/heat detectors and manual

break-glass call points wired to the main control panel located in the

control room.Each of these components is to be wired back to its own

group indicator in the control unit and to be fitted with a monitored

resistor at the last detector to enable the continuity of the group wiring to

be monitored.

The system shall be capable of immediate operation at all times and no

cation of the crew shall be necessary to set it in operation.

The detectors shall include means for giving a visual and audible alarm

signal automatically at one or more indicating units whenever any

detector comes into operation ,Such units shall give an indication of any

fire and its location in any space served by the system and shall be

centralised in the main fire control station which shall be so manned or

equipped as to ensure that any alarm from the system is immediately

received by a responsible member of the crew.Sunch alarm system shall

be constructed so as to indicate if any fault occurs in the system.

The system shall be operated by an abnormal air temperature, by an

abnormal concentration of smoke or by other factors that are an

indication of incipient fire in any one of the spaces to be protected,The

detection system shall not be used for any purpose other than fire

detection.

The detectors may be arranged to operate the alarm by the opening or

closing of contacts or by other appropriate methods,They shall be fitted in

an approproate posotion and shall be suitably protected against impact

and physical damage.They shall be suitable for use in a marine

atmosphere..They shall be placed in an open position clear of beams and

other objects likely to obstruct the flow of hot gases or smoke to the

sensitive element,Delectors operated by the closing of contralcts shall be

of the sealed contact tyoe and the sircuit shall be continuously monitored

to indicate fault conditions.

At least one detector shall be installed in each enclosed space and there

shall be not less than one detector for each 37 sq m(400 sq ft) of enclosed

area .In large spaces the detectors shall be arranged in a regular pattem so

that no detector is more than 9 meters(30 ft) another detector or more

than 4.5m(15 ft) from a bulkhead.

There shall be not less than two sources of power supply for the electrical

equipment in the operation of the fire alarm and fire detection

system ,one of which shall be an emergency source,The supply shall be

provided by separate feeders reserved solely for that purpose.Such

feeders shall run to a change-over switch situated in the control station for

the fire detection system.

A list or plan shall be displayed adjacent to each indicating unit showing

the spaces covered Provision shall be made for testing the correct

operation of the detectors and the indicating units by supply means for

applying hot air or smoke ar detector positions.

Heat detectors based on fixed temperature and rate of rise operation will

be required in the following areas:

- all accommodation spaces

- store Rooms, Mess/Recreation Space,Offices,Control room.

- Galley,laundry Linen & Drying Rooms.hospital,paint & other stores

Extended indicators fot the heat detectors are to be fitted in all rooms for

easy and quick location of the heat detector during activation.

The heat detectors are to operate in an ambient of 58 degress C except in

the galley of which 93 degress C heat detectors are to be fitted.

Smoke detectors of the ionisation chamber type are to be fitted, These

detectors must be able to detect the products of combustion in its early

stages of fire condition,The following areas are to have smoke detection::

- Machinery Rooms, Store,Workshop

Smoke detector in duct probes are also to be provided in all return air

handling unit ducts.

6.2 CO2 FLOODING SYSTEM CO2

The machinery room with disel and gas fired engines shall be provided

with a permanently installed CO2 fire protection system,to Class and

Regulating body requirements.

6.3 AUTOMATIC SPRINKLER SYSTEM

An autormatic water sprinkler system is to be installed in all

accommodation areas,including all cabins and paint store,Pressure tanks

and sprinkler pumps shall be installed.(Yard supply)

6.4 GENERAL ALARM SYSTEM

All general alarm outputs are to be derived from the fire and gas control

unit.The devices/sounders are to be 150mm 24V DC polarised bells.

In the event of a fire detection,or activation of manual call points the

general alarm bells are to sound intermittently.

A continuous alarm bell sound is to indicate CO2’system discharged’,or

activation of the sprinkler system.For CO2’system discharged’ an

electronic sounder and a rotating beascon is also to be operated inside the

protected space.

Additional dry contacts are also to be provided within the fire control unit

to operate all required shutdown circuits,such as air handling

units,ventilation fans ,etc.

Manual breakable glass call points are to be fitted in all escape routes and

corridors ,in all machiney rooms and winch rooms ,in office and control

room,Access,staircase to helideck,and stores.

All firing of the fire detection system must be done in Fire Resistant

Cables approved to IEC331.

Deckhead mountiongs for fire detectors must be used in areas where the

detectors could likely be damaged mechanically due to nature of activities

carried out,e.g.machinery room ,etc.Call points used in machinery

room ,winch compartments,store and helideck should preferably be of the

weatherproof type.

6.5 FIRE FIGHTING APPLIANCES(PORTABLE)

The following items, in addition to those covered elsewhere in this

specification,are required to be placed on board in a proper location,and

to satisfy the requirements of SOLAS and amendments thereof:

(a) All fire extinguishers shall be colour coded according to type with

colour hands to international Standards and shall have valid inspection

tags.

(b) Sufficient number of portable fire extinguishers to ensure that at least

one such extinguisher will be readily available for use in any part of

the accommodation or service spaces.

(c) At least two sets of firemen’s outfits stored so as to be easily

accessible and ready for use.The firemen’s outfit shall condidt of:

- Protective clothing of material to protect the skin from the heat

radiating from the fire and from burns and scalding by steam.The

outer surface shall be water-resistant.

- Boots and gloves of rubber or other electrically non-conducting

material.

- A rigid helmet(with protective mask)providing effective protection

against impact.

- An electric safety lamp (battery operated)of an approvel type with a

minimum burning period of three hours.

- An axe

- A self-contained breathing apparatus of an approved type.

(d) Fireproof lifeline of sufficient length capable of being attached by

means of a snaphook to a harness of the apparatus or to a scparate belt

in order to prevent the breathing apparatus becoming detached when

the lifeline is operated.

At least two fire control plans on each deck permanently exhibited for

guidance of the crew.It should consist of general arrangement plan

showing clearly for each deck the control stations,particulars of the

fire shall be provided alarms,detecting systems,the fire extinguishing

appliances,means of escape from different compartments etc.etc.

6.6 FIRE MONITOR 火灾监测

Two(2)foam monitor shall be installed on the helideck.One (1)fire pump

of 227 m3/h(1000gpm)at 89m head(min)with independent sea chest shall

be installed in enginc room.Pump size and capacity shall be sufficient for

operation of the system.

6.7 LIFE SAVING APPLIANCE

Life saving equipment to be installed according to SOLAS 1974,1983

amendment international laws and classification society requirement for

accommodation Barge.

The barge must be provided with 18X25 men liferafts to be placed on

each side of the barge(total 36 in number).Or as approved by the Flag

Administration.

Life jackets shall be 200% coverage of the total maximum onboard.Each

lifejacket is to be fitted with a whistle and a light powered by a water

activated battery.Each person shall be provided with a life jacket stowed

in his accommodation.Additional life jackets should be stowed at or near

the normal embarkation posotions,in a suitable dry stowage

position,unlocked and clearly marked,In addition,work vest of approved

make to be provided for all ship crew only(17 pcs)

At least 10 lifebuoys,stowed so that they can be quickly thrown

overboard in an emergency,Lifebuoys are to have self-igniting lights and

6.8 MUSTER AREA/EVACUATION STATIONS

There shall be an area marked on the main deck to act as a permanent

muster station to cater for the manimum numbeo of berths plus 40 day

visitors.There shall be clearly marked access lanes of manimum 0.9m

wide from muster area to evacuation stations.Evacuation stations should

have an marked area of at 2.5m wide running the length of the

SECTION 7 – MACHINERY

7.0 MACHINERY GENERAL

All machinery and equipment is to be manufacture and fitted in

accordance with Classification and Regulatory body requirements,and

where relevant Certificates are to be provided

Pumps motors and similar equipment are ro be standardised as for as

possoble with regards to make and type

he builder shall provide all compoments and ancillary equipment

necessary to make the barge function in a safe and competent manner

Care is to be taken that codes and standards relating to the barge’s area of

operation be adopted , and always in consulation with the Owners

All items not conforming will be rejected and replaced with suitable and

approved components

Engine room shall be fitted with necessary work benches and lifting

beams and device to facilitate maintenance work

All exposed equipment and parts posing any hazard to personnel shall be

fitted with guard and/or railing on site

7.1 MAIN GENERATING SETS

The Five(5) generating sets of 590 kW each(480 VOLT/3PH/60HZ) shall

be skid mounted,engine driven .All Five gensets are to be able to run in

parallel

The driving engines shall be four stroke ,marine diesel engine,complete

with electric starting system.The engine to be heat-exchanger cooled with

proof,self-ventilating self exciting generator.

Rating: 590kW. The generator shall have sufficient capacity

to start the largest motor when running on normal base

load.

Single phase space heaters shall be provided.

The equipment shall be complete with all auxiliary components to from a

exended low power factor loads

The altemator sets shall be identical(pole pitch),to minimise circulating

current and the percentage of circulating currents shall be stated

7.2 EMERGENCY GENERATOR SET

One (1) diesel generating set of 99 KW is to be provided and to be

installed in the emergency generator room on the main deck level

and is to be used strictly for supplying power to essential services during

The emergency generator is to be battery/air started and radiator cooled

7.3 PIPING AND VALVES

All pipes are to be arranged according to good marine practice with

sufficient bore and thickness for the purpose intended.They are to be well

clamped to the ship’s sturcture and to have minimum number of

bends .Approved type of bulkhead fitting is to be used where piping

penetrates a watertight or oil tight bulkhead ,deck or tank top

Expansion bends are to be fitted where necessary to avoid damage due to

expansion or movement of the structure.Mud boxes,strainers,filters and

valves are to be arranged accodring to the classification’s requirements.

All pipes of 15mm and over to be butt welded with flanged

connections .Those below 15mm are to screwed with unions or similar

effected by an approved type flexible conncctions located as close to the

Pipe routes to be clear of walkways,access routes,withdrawal

spaces,doors,manhole and hatches.Routes to be chosen to avoid places

where mechanical damage may be sustained.Where this cannot be

avoided pipes are to be suitably protected.Where condensation is likely to

from on pipe exterior,pipes are not run over unprotected electrical

equipment.All pipes are to be cleaned and to be free of welding slag

before installation .System shall be flushed after installation.All fuel

oil,Lube oil and hydraulic oil piping to be cleaned by pickling prior to

7.31 REMOTE CONTROL BALLAST VALVES AND TANK

LEVEL INDICATING SYSTEM

The vessel shall be fitted with a Remote Control Ballast Valve

system,Electric Actuators shall be installed on all valves leading to

tanks,manifolds,pump suction,pump discharge,cross-over valves and

sea-chest valves

A remote control station shall be installed in the engine control room to

house all valve controls and pump Run/Stop controls

Additionally the remote control console shall also be fitted for monitoring

tank level of all Ballast.Potable water and Fuel tanks from this console.

with mechanical seal and is to be fitted with compound and pressure

Individual filling/suction valve for each tank to be located in engine

room.Suitable spectacle flanges to be provided in system for changing

over from ballast to drill water and vice versa,where relevant

7.51 BILGE SYSTEM

Independent Bilge system shall be provide by the builder,Size and

capacity is 30m3/hr ,and liftng is 25m

Individual suctions are to be arranged from each compartent and void

space.Adequate number of bilge wells is to be arranged in way of tank

top and other relevant areas for efficient bilge suctions.Pipes are to be

schedule 80 hot dipped galvanised seamless

7.6 FIRE & GENERAL SERVICE SYSTEM

Two (2) Fire & G.S.pumps of min.capacity of 130 m3/hr with 80m head

shall be provided.Both pumps shall be able to supply concurrently for fire

fighting,The Ballast pump and GS pumps are to be crossconnected so that

one acts as a stand by to the other.The GS pump shall also act as stanfby

bigle pump

The barge shall be provided with the following fire-fighting

system,minimum to SOLAS

(a) The pumps should be far enough apart in separate compartments to

ensure that a fire in any one compartment cannot put all two pimps

out of action at one time.

(b) A fire main ,the diameter of which shall be sufficient for the

effective distribution of the maximum required discharge from all

fire pumps operating simultaneously

(c) The number of fire hoses to be provided on deck each complete

with couplings and nozzles shall be one for each 30 meters(100 ft)

length of rhe barge and one spare.In no case shall the number be

less than five in all on deck at any time.All hose nozzles to be jet

and spray dual type

Additional hoses(12 in number)shall be provided to reach platform

helideck level to provide water screening during hot working

(d) The number and position of hydrants shall be such that at least two

jets of water not emanating from the same hydarant,one of which

shall be from a single length of hose,may reach any part of the

barge normally accessible to the crew.

(e) At least one intermational shore connection-Facilities shall be

available enabling such a connection to be used on either side of

the barge.

(f) The fire pumps are to draw directly from a separate fire pump

sea-chest and deliver to the hydrants on board via fire ring main

having suitable isolation and branch/root valves.

The fire fighting capability is to be in accordance with SOLAS

1974 with all subsequent amendments ,and is to be read in

conjunction with the section relating to fire protection in section I

of the spectfications

(g) In addition to SOLAS,the vessel shall provide for condtruction fire

water,min.2 double 21/2” outlets on both port and starboard and

stem of the barge

(h) If a fire in any one compartment could put all the fire pumps out of

action,there must be an altemative means of providing water for

fire fighting ,This alternative means shall be a independently

driven fixed pump capable of supplying two fire hoses at 10 bar

(i) At least install two foam monitors to protecting helicopter deck.the

pump aslo suppliees to the two foam monitors and manifolds is

capacity 227m3/h, and lifting is 89m.

7.7FUEL OIL SYSTEM

Two (2)fuel oil transfer horizontal gear pump of min capacaity 45m3/h at

45m shallbeinstalled.

The pump are direct coupled to 480 V, 3 phase,60 Hz electric motors,The

pump are to havecast iron body, alloy steel shaft and motor/gears

adjustable relief valve and compoound pressure gauges.

Adequate number of daily service tanks are to be provided for all prime

movers,andtocompartment containing the diesel engine.

All daily service tanks are to be provided with low level alarms,overflow

pipesbacktostarage tanks and other addional instrumentation as stated

elsewhere.

Oil fuel filling/discharge connections of 75 mm bore to be fitted port and

starboard on main deck .Each connection id to be fitted with valve and

quick coupling. The transfer pump is to draw from storage tanks and to

deliver deck connection.

There shall be a fuel line to supply fuel to the crane diesel engine.

Fuel oil pipes are to be black Schedule 80 seamless pipes.Tamper-proof

flow meter with calibration certificate shall be installed for measuing

bunkering on loading and diacharge lines.

7.8 DOMESTIC POTABLE FRESH WATER SYSTEM(HOT

AND COLD)

For cold fresh water system, two antomatic domestic fresh water pressure

sets aretobeprovided. Each set is to be comprise of:

- Onepressure tanks,each with min capacity 2000L, with felief

valve,pressure swith,pressure gauge.etc.

- Two electrical F.W. pump,min capacity 45m3/h at 35m head.

calorifierseach of 1500L capacity stainless steel inner tanks with

min capacity 30m3/h at 35m head is aslo to be provided.

Domestic fresh water to be drawn from storage tanks and discharged to

room,dark room,WC.etc.

Hot water to be supplied to galley, showers and basines.

Cold fresh water piping to be Schedule 80 steel tube with welded slip-on

flanges.Piping to be hot dip galvanised after fabrication.Vavles to be

7.9 FRESH WATER TRANSFER PUMP

Two(2) electrically driven fresh water transfer pump,.having a

min ,capacity of 120 m3/hr at 35m head are to be provided

The transfer pump is to have an independent suction line common

manifold with branch lines to all F.W.tanks and the discharge must be

capable of being led to all tanks and to the main deck port and starboard

A cross-over connection is to be provided from the pressure sets to the

transfer pump discharge so that the pressure pumps may be used to

transfer fresh water in the event that the transfer pump is out of order.

The discharge outlets on the main deck are to be fitted with 5”butterfly

valves and 5”CAMLOCK fittings.

7.10 FUEL OIL PURIFIER

One(1)manual clearing control partial dischargr type fuel oil puridier to

be installed with an min ,output of 1500 litres per hour each unit

7.11 DOMESTIC SALT WATER SYSTEM

For domestic salt water system ,two automatic sanitary saltwater pressure

sets are to be provided,Each set is to comprise of:

- Two (2) pressure tanks.min.capacity 2000litres,complete with relief

bilge water of machinery spaces before discharging such water

overboard.Capacity of the separator is to be approximately 3m3/hr

The separator is to meet the requirements of IMO and relevant Authority

and to have alarms and auto shutdowns fitted to the cleam water

overboard discharge to prevent the accidental of oily water

The oil-removed from the water is to be stored in a dirty oil tank of

also to be led to this tank for storage prior to discharge.One electric pump

is to be provided to discharge the oil from this holding tank to a suitable

outlet on the amin deck

One dirty oil pump of min.3m3/hr X 30m head to be fitted for dirty oil

transfer and discharge.

7.14 HEATING/VENTILATION/AIR CONDITIONING

For air conditioning of the barge,the plant has been split to serve

accommidation and living spaces,service spaces and control room

The design of the plant is to suit the layout as shown on the General

Arrangement drawings and supplied by a reputable contractor with

experience of designing such systems

The system complies with the requirements of SOLAS(latest

amendments),and is designed to suit the conditions stated

Return Air

Exhaust Returm Air is drawn from mess rooms and passageways through

the Exhaust Units with low noise insulation material and travel through

the Un-insulated Air Pipe System to the mixing chamber on the Central

Refrigerating Plant for Air Conditioning

The condensing unit comprises a conpressor and a marine condenser

which are built toghter complete with motor and V-belt drive,dryer and

internal piping.The cooling medium shall be R-134a or other cooling

medium approved for use by the owner.

The cooling plant shall consist of two (2) compressor with Cu-Ni

condenser c/w S.W. cooling pump.min.capacity about 180 m3/hr @25m

head.One unit sea water pump act as 100% standby in the event of failure

of the other unit.one unit will service the whole vessel air-conditioning.

For operation of the plant,the delivery including a main starter panel with

electric remote/manual controls of the condensing unit and the air

handling unit.

The seawater cooled condenser is manufactured with cu/ni pipes and

condenser covers of bronze

Washplace and Service Spaces etc

For Provision Store and Laundry the air is exhaust nozzles and travel

through the un-insulated air pipe system to the suction box.The pressure

side of the fan is connected so that the total exhausted air volume is

discharge into the open.The branch for the Sickbay Exhaust is equipped

with a non-return flap

The Exhaust nozzles type or equivalent are made from pressed steel.and a

throttling disc for volume

The air handling units shall be located in the accommodation block being

served and arrange the marine type rubber mounting for handling unit

seating.

The minimum air quantity of 15 cu m/hr per persom is to be supplied to

the cabins,with air supply changes to be minimum 10changes per hour for

cabins

Seawater cooling supply shall be provided by electrically driven seawater

circulating pump.A separate S.W pump shall be provided for each unit

with suitable crossover connections to allow eithwe of the pumps to serve

either of the air conditioning units

In addition,provision to be made for emergency circulation of the air

conditioning condensers from the general service pump/

Fire Damper

Fusible fire dampers and fire dampers with indicators are to be provided

as necessary.Damper are to close automatically in the event of fan

failure,fire or shut down.Dampers are to be fitted with manual over-ride

facilities.

Adjustable dampers are to be installed to duct work as necessary for

balancing

All penetration pieces required for the installation work are to be

procided,and to be of an approved type so as not to affect the integrity of

7.16 REFRIGERATION SYSTEM-FREEZER & CHILLER

ROOMS

Shall be appropriately sized for 300-persons.

The built-in walk-in stainless steel chiller and freezer shall be furnished

and installed as shown on the drawings and approved by owner.The two

(2) complete sets compressors and condenser units c/w S.W cooling

pump and electric remote/manual controls panel shall be fitted in the

engine room with easy accessibility.

Each compartment shall be accessible through a proper stainless steel

insulated door with 150mm minimum polyurethane to preserve

temperature.Each compartment shall be thermosatically controlled.in

addition each compartement shall be fitted with a drain for excess water

and condensation

Provision for latching access door from inside will be provided.Extra

precaution shall be taken to insure that a vapor seal be maintained;The

chiller and freezer will be fitted with deep shelves all around for storing

food.with sea rails.The compressors with water cooled copper nickel

condensers, The compressor sets will be identical,with one serving and

another unit for standby unit,fitted with proper sealed refrigeration valves

so either unit can be isolated for service.The operationg unit will service

both the chiller and freezer fan/evaporator units,with

pressure/temperature controlled expansion valves,tied to each

thermostat,controlling the compressor operation,and required flow of

freon to each unit.The system to be designed in accordance with marine

type standard system and normal marine operating freon R134a and

system to be approved by owner.Proper valued dryers,with bypass,and

moisture indicating sight glasses will be fitted,All compressor motors will

be TEFC enclosures,belt driven

A remote temperature gauge complete with alarm bell system will be

provided outside the hiller/freezer .Suction & pressure

gauges(permanent0will be provided for each compressor.The bottom of

the walk in boxes will be finished in red ceramic tile,with wood grating

over,the sides and overhead will be stainless steel sheet metal over

non-flammable ,oil resistant type of insulation,Shelves will be stainless

high and minimum of 300mm above floor level

7.17 AIR COMPRESSORS

Two(2) electeic motor driven high pressure air compressor 500 cfm @ 10

bar shall be supplied ,The air compressors shall deliver air via two air

receivers each of 2m3 capacity with dryer to deck outlets

7.18 FRESH WATER MAKER

Minimum number of two(2) water maker of reverse osmosis type to be

installed inside pump room,Total Capacity shall be equal to 50-tons per

day.UV-sterilizer shall be installed at the appropriate fresh water pipes

7.19 EYEWASH STATION

One eyewash station each to be provided on/in:

- Main Deck

- Paint Store

- Engine Room

High conductivity,standed copprt conductors,PVC/CSP or PVC/PCP

insulated cables are to be used.

In spaces where cables may be subjected to machanical damage these

cables are to be armoured or suitably protected by trunk or

conduit.Wherever possible,cables are to be of the multi-core type.At gas

tight,oil tight and wateright deck/bulkhead penetrations,glands or

multi-cable transits are to be used

Welding cables are to be multi-stranded,tough rubber sheathed.

Cables are to be conform to the standards indicated ,or to an equivalent

approved standard。

In general cables shall have flame retardant outer sheath,with oxygen

index of not less than 30 and be type tested and certified for reduced

propagation in accordance with IEC 332

All power and control cable conductors shall be stranded copper

conforming to BS 4109 and with a minimum cross-sectional area of

2.5mm sq.

Where armouring/screening of single core cables is required or specified

it shall be magnetic.

Colour coding shall be in accordance with IEE Regulations(Section 524)

8.2.2 JUNCTION BOXES

The boxes shall have degree of protection of at least IP.55 in accordance

with IEC 144,and shall conform to IEC 92.1

Junction box identification lables shall be made of 316 stainless steel and

securely fixed using stainless steel screws .Fixation of the labels shall in

no way affect the certification of the junction boxes for use in a

hazardous area

Large terminal boxes located outside and exposed to the elements shall be

fitted with suitably rated anticondensation heater.The complete unit shall

be suitable for the appropriate hazardous location and protected against

driving rain by the installation of a full rain canopy above the box.

Cables shall enter junction boxes via their bottom and sides only.Top

entry cables will not be allowed in outside locations.。

Steel wire braided cables,type 5 and 6 defined in this specification,shall

be terminated into poly carbonate enclosures,via suitable glands

The earth tracer conductor shall be taken into the box and securely

terminated.Earth continuity shall be ensured between the earth stud in the

junction box,the cable braid and the main earth system..

8.2.3 CABLE TRAYS

Cables on ladders and trays shall be grouped by voltage class and

singal/service type

Separate cable ladders/trays shall be installed for circuits within each of

the following cable groups

a) Power cables with associated control

b) Intrinscially safe circuits.Instruments cables up to 220V AC order.

c) Analogue signals and control loops.Vital circuits

fire,gas,telecoms,shutdown.

The number of cables installed in cable tray or ladder shall be such that

the space factor does not execeed 60%。

8.3 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM OF SUPPLY

a) 480V 3 phaes 60 cycle for power requirements and equipment

considered permanent fixtures.

b) 220V single phase 60 cycle supply via single phses transformers for

supplying power to nacigational lights and aids,general lighting and

domestic appliances

c) 480/220 volts emergency power supply,to be used for supplying

during emergency conditions to navigation aids,lights ,emergency

lighting ,alarms and other essential users

d) 24V D.C navigational aids,radio and instrumentation

8.4 SHORT CIRCUIT CALCULATION

The Builder shall ensure ,by appropriate calculations,that all

swithboards,switchgear,motor control centers and cables are adequately

rated for the maximum anticipated fault current conditions.

The calculations shall be based upon the maximum number of generators

and motors that can simulaneously contribule to the system fault

level,that is,the “worst case”conditions

These calculations,toghter with switchboard test certificates and

switchgear rating date shall be submitted to the class for approval prior to

switchboard construction

8.5 ELECTRIC POWER SOURCE

Normal A.C. power supply is to be seven(7) in number main generating

sets.Each main alternator to be 480 volt,3 ph,60HZ Alternators to be

salient pole synchronous brushless type and are to be of enclosed

ventilated drip proof construction with Class F insulation and shall be

further protected with 100% epoxy impregnation and generally to

Classification requirements fitted with anti condensing heaters,Six

alternators are to be operated in parallel normally and seventh set is to act

as standby.However,all seven(5)main altemators are to be able to operate

in parallel concurrentl

Emergency supply is to be by means of one emergency generator

8.5.1 MAIN SWITCHBOARD

Main switchboard to be dead front type,to be installed in air conditioning

control toom(at engine room upper level).The main switvhboard shall be

sized with 10% additional space for future expansion.

To be of steel construction with removable cover plates standed enamel

finish,flush mounted instrements,Insulated handrails to be arranged along

front side

paralleling of generators

The switchboard is to be arranged automatic synchronising with manual

over-ride

All outgoing circuits to be fed by approved moulded case circuit breakers

Construction of the switch board to be such that it is well ventilated,care

being taken to avoid hot spots.

All necessary safety features,such as reverse power relays,over and under

frequency protection,over and under voltage protection,over current

protection etc.are to be provided.

8.6 ELECTRIC SHORE SUPPLY

Shore supply facility is to be incorporated in the main switchboard

approximately 600KW capacity 480 volts 3 ph 60HZ supply.The shore

supply terminals at the main switchboard are to be directly connected to

the shore supply sonnection box mounted in a suitable position and of a

weather proof condtruction.Facilities at the connection box are to be

provided for checking the phase sequence of the incoming shore supply.

8.7 ELECTRIC MOTORS

Motors to be of squirrel cage type and all electric motors shall be

designed,fabricated,and fully tested in accordance with the standards

listed and additionally shall conform to IEC 92(Electrical installations in

ships).wirh degree of protection IP55.

All motors shall normally be standard marine type except where installed

in hazardous locations.In general,motors which are below 15KW shall be

provided with direct-online starter.Motors rated below 50KW with

star-delta starter.Above 50KW,appropriate soft starters or auto-starter

shall be provided.

All motors shall be rated to operate on a 480V,3-phase 3wire,60HZ

electrical supply,or 220V single phase.60HZ as defined by motor size as

stated below.

All fractional horsepower motors shall either be spot wound for a

480V ,3-phase,60HZ –supply or 220V single phase 60HZ.

Anti-condensation heater leads are to terminate into a separate terminal

box adjacent to the main terminal box.

All motors and alternators shall have Class F insulation but with Class B

temperature rise only。

All motors shall have metric frame sizes in accordance with IEC 72.

All motors and associated terminal boxes shall have degree of protection

of at least IP.55

Generally where motors have local control,the stop switch/buttom should

be of the stay put/locking type.

8.8 LIGHTING

All lighting throughout the barge,unless otherwise stated is is to be

flourescent type standardising on twin tube fittings wherever

possible.Fittings to comply with Classification.The type and enclousures

for light fittings and switches to be determined by the location of the

installation,Lighting inside accommodation to the flush mounted.

Lighting fittings in engine room and in areas subject to vibration to be

resiliently mounted,Accommodation fittings to be suitable for the

dector.Dector/bulkhead,cold room ,store and emergency lighting is to be

incandescent

Generally minimum illumination levels to be as per IES codes of practise

and not to be less than the following:

Machinery space,stores : 160 Lux

Gallery : 110Lux

Cabins,mess and wash places : 75Lux

Passage ways : 50Lux

Throughout the vessel in machinery areas and in way of

accommodation,flourescent emergency lights with built-in chargers are to

be provided,The charger is to be able to supply power for at least 3 hours

in case of main power failure.

Emergency lights are generally to be located in all passage

ways,stairways,galley,mess,recreation room,control tower,office and

other common spaces in all strategic machinery areas.

Emergency lighting shall comprise a proportion of narmal

fittings,supplied from the standby generator set. In addition,separate

battery powered rechargeable fittings which illuminate on loss of normal

mains supply ,shall be provided at all exits,Emergency exit lightboxes

with arrow sign shall be placed on all alleyway with an interval of

5-6m.The battery back-up power for emergency and escape lighting shall

be for a minimum period of 4 hours.

A minimum of 24V 500- 1000W Metal Halide floodlights are to be

supplied and installed in work deck,winch areas,etc:

Forecastle mooring area : 4sets

AFT mooring area : 4sets

Work area on main deck : At least 8sets

The number of floodlights in other areas to be sufficient to maintain

200LUX over the working deck

Four off 2000W search lights to be installed on deckhouse

8.9 NAVIGATIONAL AND OPERATIONAL LIGHTS

Navigational lights to comply with International Regulation for

Preventing Collision at Sea(latest edition). Navigation lights to be

contrilled from the nacigaion panel in control room.Inadicator lamps and

buzzer.are to be fitted .Lights are to be two tier type 110 V A.C.primaiy

24 V D.C. secondary,Main 110V A.C.supply to be taken from two

sources via change-over switch.

All operational lights as stated elsewhere are to be controlled from

control tower from control panel.All operation lights are to be operated

by 110V A.C.supply

8.10 GENERAL ALARM

All alarms as necessary in hull and machinery sections are to be fitted.

General alarm system to be installed with push buttons in control room

and engine room alarm panel connected to audible alarms in control

room,accommodation lobbies,machinery compartments and winch

compartments.System to be energised from 24V D.C. supply. Reset

wwitch for the alarm is to be arranged in the control room.

8.11 24VDC POWER SUPPLY(BATTERY CHARGER &

DISCHARGE PANEL)24V DC

The system is to supply power to the navigational lights and aids,radio

equipment,alarms instrumentation etc.The power source of 24V feeding

the nacigation lights is considered as the secondary source

Two(2) Dead front,wall mounted drip proof float type charges ,to be

located in the control room

The rectifier to be silicon type three phase full wave rectifying method

with surge current protector, Charging source 480 V or 220V, 3-phase,60

cycle,rectified to 24 VDC.

Necessary suantity of moulded case circuit breakers and fuses for

radio,emergency lighting ,alarm systems,general and fire

alarms ,telephones ,etc

The batteries,sufficient in number of the lead acid type,to be stored in

awell ventilated room on the control deck.Racks to be made of steel with

wooden grating on floor.Batteries to be protected from accidental spillage

and movement.

Spearate vent fan to be provided,with exhaust to a safe/protected area。

8.12 SMALL POWER AND LIGHTING

Welding socket outlets,which are intended for use with portable welding

sets on the adjacent platform shall be provided with means to isolate the

power supply from the remote location

This shall taken the form of an emergency push(stay put),button,location

on or near the welding set,which will isolate the supplies from the barge

mounted outlet

Feeders to barge utilities(accommodation and gallwy)shall have

protective devices and the isolation of these feeder shall be assured under

conditions of earth fault.

8.13 INSPRCTION AND TESTING

All equipment and installation shall be fully tested and “meggered”before

putting into service and a record shall be provided to the Owner of all

circuit and equipment readings.

The inspection and testing shall conform to the guidelines of the Institute

of Electrical Engineer recommendations for Electronic and Electrical

equipment of mobile and fixed offshore installations.
