The FURUNO FR-8002 series is a new 12.1" color radar that displays high
quality radar images. The FR-8002 series fully complies with IEC 62252
testing standard for small radar to enhance the safety of your boating life.
The FR-8002 series radar presents outstanding short-range detection
capability, detecting objects at the range of 20 m. The distance
resolution is as fine as 15 m, helping to distinguish small targets in
congested waterways. The maximum detection range has been greatly
extended, thanks to the high sensitivity of its antenna radiator.
In addition, its high antenna rotation speed, of 48 rpm, allows the FR-8002
to be utilized on high speed craft and river vessels. The antenna rotation
speed can be automatically adjusted according to the selected range
scale. The range scale of this radar series can also be switched to display
kilometers for use in rivers.
FURUNO’s new high-performance FR-8002 seriesfully complies with the IEC testing standard for small radar
Advanced Auto Mode
True Motion Echo Trail
The FR-8002 series is capable of constantly presenting the best possible pictures by simply pressing the respective knobs. The advanced auto mode automatically adjusts the tuning, gain and anti clutter controls. These settings can also be manually adjusted by turning the respective knobs on the front panel.
When connected with a heading sensor and position receiver, i.e. GPS, the FR-8002 series can display True Echo Trails to present true target movements in accordance with their speed-over-ground and course-over-ground. This mode provides intuitive monitoring of moving targets.
ARP/AISWith the optional ARP board ARP-11, up to 10 targets can be acquired and tracked on the radar screen.Additionally, up to 100 AIS targets can be presented with appropriate AIS data input.Detailed information on up to two ARP/AIS targets can be displayed in the data cells at the bottom of the screen.
In this brochure, the echo images go beyond the outer most ring and cover the data area. The FR-8002 series does that to present wider overview of the surrounding area. The FR-8002 series can also restrict the presentation of echo images within the ring as in the ordinary radar setting.
Choice Of Antenna UnitsThe FR-8002 series offers flexibility in its utilization for river-use, as well as, high-speed craft with its high speed antenna rotation. The antenna rotation speed can automatically be adjusted according to the selected range scale for optimum detection.
Control knobs for fine adjustment of gain, anti-clutter rain and sea.

User Customized ModesWhen the vessel is on a regular route or under circumstances such as heavy rain and rough seas where special radar settings are required, the operator may simply press the CUSTOM key to activate the user-
customized operating mode. Up to three programs can be registered with specific settings for clutter controls and unwanted echo suppression, antenna rotation speed, etc., according to the given situation and specific usage.
Zoom ModeThere are three zoom modes available for the FR-8002 series to highlight a selected area in a pop-up window, which are relative, true and target zoom. With the target zoom mode, a selected ARP/AIS target is shown and tracked in a zoomed-in window.

The MODEL 1623 is a high contrast LCD radar designedfor pleasure craft and small fishing boats. Radar echoesare presented in four shades of gray on the 6" SilverBright LCD. The Radar offers detailed pictures ofcoastline and targets at short ranges thanks to narrowerpulselengths and dual IF bandwidths. The waterproofdisplay makes it ideal for flybridge installation.
Standard features include EBLs (Electronic BearingLine), EVRMs (Electronic Variable Range Marker), TLL output (Target Latitude and Longitude), Cursor L/Linput/output, Echo Trail, Guard Zone Alarm, Anti ClutterRain, Automatic control of tuning and sensitivity. These features ensure optimum performance indetecting and ranging targets of interest.
The operator can select from Normal, Off-center, Zoom, and Watchman mode. In the Watchman mode, the antenna is stopped and the transmission is off, while the screen displays nav data only. The radar wakes up at a specified time interval (5, 10 or 20 min) and operates for a minute. If a target enters the GuardZone, an audible alarm sounds and the radar goes intoits normal operating mode, cancelling the Watchmanmode. The alarm may also be set to work for a targetleaving the Zone.
You can see a Waypoint on the high contrast LCDscreen when the radar is connected with an optionalGPS Navigator. The Waypoint is indicated by a lollipopmark for easy identification and location.

Short Range Target Discrimination
With a push of the “OFF CENTER” button, own ship position is shifted to a pre-registered point on the screen. This allows the operator to focus on a specific area ahead of or around the vessel without losing track of the position.
Clearance between markings of the bearing scale is changed according to the proximity between own ship and the bearing circle, as shown in the images on the left-hand side.It helps to grasp the bearing to the target echo without using EBL.Full Screen Mode with no NAV data

Bringing a New Level of Quality, Operability, and Reliability into Marine Radar.Furuno's new Radar series, 1835/1935/1945, is a high contrast 10.4" color LCD radar designed for a wide range of
vessels including pleasure craft, fishing boats and work boats.
These new Radars offer crystal clear target presentation with automatic Gain, Sea and Rain controls to deliver a
noise-free Radar presentation. It features superb detection of even small targets both at short and long ranges. It also
incorporates new display modes (ex. True View Mode, Full Screen Mode) which will assist with safe navigation. The
1835/1935/1945 series allows you to see far away objects before they are visible and allows you to see in the dark, fog
or during periods of obstructed visibility in any weather condition.
These Radars can be inter-connected with other navigation equipment, chart plotters and sounders, through Furuno's
programmable NMEA 0183 interface, which affords operators the ability to expand their boat's system as needed.

There is also an option to clear the navigation data on the Radar display. Individual navigation data can be easily toggled ON or OFF in the dedicated menu.
With its advanced signal processing technology, the 1835/1935/1945 series demonstrates substantial increases in target detection, particularly in close range. As shown in the pictures on the right, the Radar clearly displays thin piers from a very short distance.

Adding to the enhanced auto clutter controls, dedicated rotary knobs are provided for the suppression of unwanted echoes from sea clutter, rain and other forms of precipitation. Anti-clutter settings can be adjusted manually to remove sea and rain clutter from the Radar screen to gain a clearer view of Radar targets.
Anti-Clutter Controls
Rain disturbs target recognition on the Radar screen.
Featuring dedicated rotary knobs to adjust GAIN/STC/FTC for straightforward operation.
Up to 100 AIS and 10 ARPA targets can be tracked and overlaid on the Radar screen to assist the operator in tracking vessel movements. Since AIS works by a VHF transceiver system, a variety of navigational information such as vessel name, speed, ROT, draft, and the destination of the selected targets can be included in real time. Unlike ARPA targets, AIS targets are visible even if they are located behind large ships or islands.

Target Zoom A target can be shown in a zoom display while its detailed movements are tracked by AIS or ARPA. The conventional zoom function is also available by which the operator sets the zoom function on the target manually.
