«Hello» said Gary, as he sat down on the park bench. Jez and Jules ran up, panting for breath.

«Hiya,» shouted Jez.

«Hi,» chimed in Jules. She stared at Gary through her new glasses, «Good to see ya Gaz» Everyone laughed.

«Yea,» smirked Gary. Jules looked different in her new glasses.

«I think I should go to the shop,» mumbled Gary. He took off his old glasses and stared at the broken lens. The others looked at each other.

«I don’t want to.» said Jules. She’d spent enough time there for one day!

«OK, you stay on guard,» said Jezz, pointing to their school bags. She grabbed Gary by the arm and began to steer him in the direction of the optician.

Read the following two passages. What do they show about the characters? How do you know?«The dog raced towards the children. Shania stopped down and patted it. Picking up a stick, she threw it as far as she could. She laughed as it raced after the stick.»

«The dog raced towards the children. Tina stood her ground and waited. As the dog approached, she raised her hand and hit out. The dog yelped.»

Use the same opening but make the character very shy. You are not allowed to use «She was shy!
