A Vision or Arborfeld GarrisonCommunity Planning Weekend

You are invited to the Arborfeld Garrison CommunityPlanning Weekend to give your views and help develop ideasor new development at Arborfeld Garrison and adjoiningland.

Drop in or a short while or stay all day.

The Community Planning WeekendThe aim o the Community Planning Weekend is to bringtogether everyone with an interest in Arborfeld Garrison tobuild on previous consultation and to produce a shared,

practical vision or its uture development. You will have theopportunity to take part in workshops, walkabouts and hands-on planning groups to consider key issues such as sustainability, connectivity and landscape design. The event is an opportunityto share local knowledge and ideas and contribute to theemerging vision, and it has the support o Wokingham BoroughCouncil.

BackgroundFollowing an extensive period o public consultation WokinghamBorough Councils Core Strategy identifed Arborfeld Garrisonand adjoining lands as a Strategic Development Location (SDL)in2010, capable o delivering around 3,500 new homes.

Ownership o the developable parts o the site is sharedbetween two main parties: a consortium o landowners knownas the Arborfeld Garrison Landowners Consortium (AGLC)and the Marino Family Trust (MFT). The Consortium ownsapproximately hal o the area allocated or development, andwill account or 2,000 o the proposed new homes, a newsecondary school, a new district centre with a oodstore, shopsand other services, and a neighbourhood centre with a newprimary school.

The Marino Family Trust Company Ltd (MFT) owns the majorityo the remaining area o land in the south o the SDL. This areawill accomodate 1,500 new homes and a urther pr imary school.

The ocus or Arborfeld Garrison is planning or the creation oa great place to live, including the best range o local acilitiesthat can be achieved. A key par t o the process is thepreparation o a masterplan or the area. The masterplanningteam, led by John Thompson & Par tners (JTP), has beenemployed by the AGLC, working closely with WokinghamBorough Council and other stakeholders, to draw up amasterplan or AGLC, taking into account the PlanningAuthoritys Supplementary Planning Document that has beenadopted by the Council (2011). Representatives rom thelandowners and their consultant team, GVA and AMEC, will alsobe present at the workshops.

Report BackFollowing the Community Planning Weekend the design team

will summarise the outcomes and develop an illustr ated visionor Arborfeld Garrison. This will be reported back to thecommunity in a presentation at 7.30pm on Wednesday 30January 2013 at Arborfeld Community Centre.
