EASTER BASKETS
FOR THOSE LESS FORTUNATE
Could you help someone less fortunate this Easter sea-
son? Community Service will be preparing Easter
food baskets for those in need on Palm Sunday, April 14
and we need your help. Community service will provide a
complete Easter meal but we would like to provide these
families with some additional non-perishable groceries
during these difficult times. Some suggestions for non-
perishable food items (but not limited to): canned soups
and fruits, peanut butter, jelly, macaroni & cheese, cereal,
Pop Tarts, cereal bars, pancake mix & syrup, pasta sauce,
cookie, brownie or cake mix, bagged snacks (chips, pret-
zels, etc.)
To ensure the safety of our recipients, please check the
expiration dates on your donated food. We do not want
to give anyone food that has expired. Please bring your
grocery items to the church this weekend. All items
must be brought to the church by 11 AM this Sunday
(April 14) in order for us to distribute the baskets right
after Mass.
Your help in making someone’s Easter
a happy one is greatly appreciated!

FROM THE DESK OF FATHER ANTHONY……………………………………………
Today, Palm Sunday of the Passion of Our Lord, ushers in the holiest and most solemn time of the
year. We are about to embark on celebrating the lifegiving and lifechanging Mysteries of our Redemption –
the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. This is the time to set aside other
things – even things that we think are important – and to dedicate this time to drawing closer to God through
His son, Jesus Christ. I know that “life goes on” even though we are celebrating the Easter Triduum. I know
that there are schedules and jobs to be done. However, may I suggest that anything that is not truly necessary
be postponed? Please take this dedicated time to reflect on your life and what it means to be a Catholic. Come
and adore the Lord in His Eucharistic Presence on Holy Thursday. Come and adore the Cross on Good Friday.
Come and celebrate the Good News of the Resurrection on Holy Saturday night and Easter Sunday morning.
As Good Friday is only a few days away, I am thinking about our
Lord’s Crucifixion and Death. Although our sanctuary has a cross, it is not
a crucifix. I miss having a prominent crucifix in the church building where
I celebrate the Holy Sacrifice of the Cross (Mass) daily. Although our cross
with the Risen Lord anticipates our hope for own Resurrection, this
depiction is not really part of our Catholic liturgical history and imagery. An
artistic rendering of our Lord’s Death on the Cross is, however. I am thinking
of one of the prayers we pray weekly at the Stations of the Cross – “If we accept
the Resurrection, we must also accept Crucifixion.” I am wondering what you
think.
And speaking of the Cross, the Church does direct that a Cross be used for Adoration on Good Friday, not a
Crucifix. I hope that this will not be “off putting” for any of us as we venerate and adore the Cross “on which hung the
Salvation of the world.”
As Lent progresses, I hope that you will take the opportunity to confess your sins. We have a communal penance
service here at Holy Trinity this Tuesday, April 16, at 7:00PM. Several priests will be present to help us be reconciled with God
as we enter into the celebration of the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ. And of course, the Sacrament
of Penance is celebrated on Saturday at 4:00PM. If you need to make an appointment for a different time, please call the parish
office.
Good news! As of Monday, April 8, we have received $44,070 in pledges and gifts for the Diocesan Lenten
Appeal from 96 parishioners. We are only $4,234 from our diocesan goal of $48,304. We are at 91.23% of our goal.
Let’s pray that we make the diocesan goal by Easter. Thanks for your participation.
I hope that you are looking forward to Wednesday, May 8 – we will celebrate the 14
th
Anniversary of the
Dedication of the Church, beginning with Mass at 6:30PM. Following Mass, everyone is invited to the Atrium for a
reception – hope to see you there.
On Sunday, May 5, Fr. Stephen West will celebrate his Fortieth Anniversary of Ordination to the Sacred
Priesthood. This is a great occasion! We are blessed that Fr. Stephen is here to celebrate Mass with us. Fr. Stephen
will celebrate the 11:00AM Mass on May 5. All are invited to share his joy. Following Mass, our parish will host a
reception in honor of Fr. Stephen in the Atrium.
Our parish has been promoting the FORMED Program for several months now. Have you noticed? FORMED is
an opportunity to learn about our Catholic faith and to grow in faith. This program is free for all of our parishioners. We are
investigating various ways that we can use the FORMED resources communally; however, individuals can already use the resources.
Parishioners need to sign up for FORMED at www.htligonier.formed.org. Please take a look at the web page and start using the
resources there. Also, you have probably noticed the kiosk with books and cassette disks in the gathering space – this is part of
FORMED. I truly hope you will investigate what our parish is offering through FORMED.
We will have an informational meeting for the Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion on
Monday, April 29, at 7:00PM. I ask that all extraordinary ministers to attend, please. If you are interested
in serving in this ministry, you are also welcome to attend. Thanks.
Please be aware that our parish offices will be closed on Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter
Monday. I hope that everyone has set aside time to celebrate the Easter Triduum.
Please plan on participating in the MASS OF THE LORD’S SUPPER at 7:00PM on Holy Thursday, April 18;
the CELEBRATION OF THE LORD’S PASSION at 3:00PM on Good Friday, April 19; and THE EASTER VIGIL IN THE
HOLY NIGHT at 9:00PM on Holy Saturday, April 20.
