Slide coupling ring onto cable. Cut end of cable evenand strip jacket, braid and dielectric to dimensionsshown in table. All cuts are to be sharp and square. Donot nick braid, dielectric or center conductor. Tin exposedcenter conductor and braid, avoiding excessive heat.
Screw the plug sub-assembly on cable. Solder assem-bly to braid through solder holes, making a good bondbetween braid and shell. Solder conductor to contact.Do not use excessive heat.
For final assembly on straight plugs, move coupling ringforward and screw in place on plug sub-assembly.
Strip cable as shown. Be careful not to nick center conductor or outer braid.
Twist outer braid in a clockwise direction so that at least 1/32” of cable dielectric is bared, and braid is leftflat. (stray or loose braid can cause shorts.)
Gently insert center conductor into back end of connector, “feeling” it into the guide hole. (If centerconductor is not properly in place, about 1/8”of centerconductor will show at the back end. Reinsert untilcable dielectric reaches position shown in illustration.)
Push the cable firmly in place (as far as possible). Then screw the connector onto the cable in a clockwisedirection until it stops. Assembly is complete.

Remove jacket material to 3/8”.
Fold braid back over jacket.
Remove foil and cut dielectric to length of 1/4”. Be carefulnot to nick copper jacket of center conductor. Removedielectric fuzz.
If using separate crimp ring, slide over folded back braid.
If foil is burred, twist so that corner at point A is smooth and provides a lead for the connector mandrel.
Install connector mandrel over foil and underneath the braid;trim braid if desired. point A should be approximately evenwith inner surface of connector.
Slide crimp ring into place over braid and adjacent to connector body. crimp with proper tool.
Slide clamp nut over cable. Strip cable to dimensionshown. Cut braid and dielectric square. Do not nickcenter conductor.
Slide contact assembly under braid and jacket untilbraid butts as shown. Use caution that braid slidesover contact assembly and not inside of it. Be surecenter conductor is visible through side hole of contact. Solder contact to center conductor. Contactmay be crimped on applicable connectors.
Insert into connector body.
Tighten clamp nut to a torque of 35 ibf-in.

Trim cable as shown, being careful not to nick the innerconductor or braid.
Slip crimp sleeve over cable. Place inner conductor into contact. Note that the end of contact and innerdielectric must be butting and square. Crimp withappropriate tool.
Flair outer braid and gently but firmly push the contactinto the connector housing until a gentle snap is felt, indicating the contact is in place. Slip the crimp sleeve in place, butting the flange against the connector body and crimp with appropriate tool.

Trim cable as shown, taking care not to nick the centerconductor or outer braid.
Run nut, washer, gland and ferrule over the cable, andflair the braid over the ferrule. Solder or crimp the contact to the center conductor.
Push the center contact into the body assembly, feel itsnap into place. With all the loose components in placecomplete the assembly by tightening the nut with awrench..
Run crimp ferrule over cable. Trim cable as shown.Avoid nicking the center conductor or outer braid (stray or loose braid may cause shorts).
Flair outer braid as shown
Firmly push stripped assembly into connector bodyuntil 1/8” to 3/16” of center conductor protrudes fromthe nose of the center pin contact
Slip crimp sleeve into place butting the flange againstthe connector body. Crimp the sleeve into place with theproper crimp tool. Crimp the center contact with theproper crimp tool and trim the excess center conductorfrom the center pin contact housing.

Slide clamp nut and clamp gasket over cable end. V-groove in clamp gasket faces toward connector body.Strip cable to dimensions shown. Important: Do notnick insulation around center conductors. For solid corecables, lay braid back out of the way while trimmingcore; then lay braid down again to facilitate Step 2.
Slide braid clamp over braid until inner shoulder buttsagainst jacket. (Note: sharp edge of braid clamp goestoward V-groove in clamp gasket.) Fold braid backevenly over braid clamp as shown.
Slide sleeve over cable so that braid “bottoms” insidesleeve. Solder contacts to conductors, using minimumheat. Remove any excess solder. Alternative method:Crimp center contacts. Bend conductors and contactsout and back to obtain .250” (6.4 mm) spacing betweencontacts.
Insert contacts into rear of insulator. (Note: for Belden9207 and similar solid core cables, contact on barecopper conductor (or for Belden 8227 and similar airdielectric cables) the contact on white insulated conductor goes into hole with dot next to it. Slide insulator to butt against sleeve as shown.
Insert assembly into connector body, aligning slot ofinsulator with polarizing key in body. Tighten clamp nutto 50lb/in (5.7 N-m) torque. Do not twist connectorbody.
