Support of Oracle Database 11g on Raw Devices

Databases for new installations should not be installed on raw devices any more. Oracle install tools OUI and DBCA do not support raw devices anymore in release 11g. Oracle plans to desupport raw devices completely with the next version following 11.2. For further reference see My Oracle Support note 754305.1 and/or 'Oracle Database Upgrade Guide' for release 12c: Desupport for Raw Storage Devices'.

Support of Oracle RAC One Node

The database option "Oracle RAC One Node" is not certified for SAP. See SAP note 105047.

Support of 'exp' / 'imp' tools

The classical export and import utilities 'exp' and 'imp' should not be used any more with 11.2. See SAP note 1712612.

Prerequisite Description

Oracle Instant Client

Checkwhich Oracle instant client version should be used. For Unix/Linux platforms refer to SAP note 1431794 and 819829. For Windows platforms refer to note 998004.

SAP Kernel For SAP Systems using the 7.11 kernel the dbsl (dboraslib.so) must be at least patch level 81 and above. See SAP note 1456323.

Transparent Data Encryption (TDE)

TDE Tablespace Encryption (TSE) can be used to encrypt tablespaces to protect sensitive SAP application data in data files from unauthorized access. See SAP note 974876.

Database VaultTo protect sensitive SAP application data from unauthorized access through SQL, the database can be configured with Oracle Database Vault. See SAP note 1355140.
