No one, of course! That is what makes his transformation story so powerful (after the Christians got over their suspicions). It was an ‘only God...’ kind of change. Paul told his own story of what he was like: ‘I...was convinced that I ought to do all that was possible to oppose the name of Jesus of Nazareth... I put many of the Lord’s people in prison, and when they were put to death, I cast my vote against them... I even hunted them down in foreign cities.’ (Acts 26:911 NIV) Only God could have taken a man whose life was so far gone, and turn him into the kind of evangelist that tries to persuade a king to meet Jesus: ‘I pray God that not only you but all who are listening to me today may became what I am.’ (Acts 26:29 NIV) No one saw Saul’s conversion coming except Jesus. He knew that the ideal man to kindle the flame of the Gospel across Europe was the very same as the one who had been trying to stamp it out. All it took was a radical encounter with Him. Ridiculous - but that’s what happens when an individual really meets Jesus. So often we lack Heaven’s perspective on our situations. We see problems. God sees the other side of the coin. Pathfinder NewsWhat glorious weather our Pathfinders were blessed with last weekend for their Unit camps. From all reports everyone had a wonderful time and not even the chilly nights could lessen the experience. This coming weekend we have our Pathfinder Rally and Fair days. Please check the details below for arrival times, uniform requirements and locations, and please contact your Unit Leaders should you require additional information.Also remember that participation in the Fair Day requires that you complete the CONSENT FORM that was emailed last week.Information on our Club Camp to Mt Kosciusko in October was shared last week with more detailed information together with a Consent form and payment information to be shared in the coming weeks. To celebrate the end of this week and to raise money for a worthy cause we will be having RED (Read Every Day) day. All students are asked to bring a gold coin to school and will be reading for a total of 60mins. There will be a reader’s theatre at assembly (about 5 mins). Then, at lunch break, 40mins of reading and at recess 15 mins of reading. The target amount for Reading 60 mins for MS is $800.ONE MORE THING: It is RED (Read Every Day), so please wear something RED. Students will be allowed to wear a red hat or red scarf, maybe red shoes or socks, put on a red nose, colour or decorate their hair red, etc. School uniform clothing must still be worn.Thank you all in advance for your participation and support. It’s a great way to encourage kids to enjoy reading.PRIMARY SPORTHRIS AthleticsLast Wednesday 72 students attended the HRIS regional Athletics carnival at Glendale athletics

track. We had a fantastic day with many of our students performing extremely well in their events. We had many place getters in all events and our 8yr girls were Age Division champions, with Tori Robertson the age champions also for the 8yr girls. The school came in 3rd place overall behind Avondale & Hunter Valley Grammar, and 2nd in the handicap points.Our school broke 3 records with Chelsea Bryer and Jay Davis claiming the Javelin records and Callum Sutton securing the 12yr boys discus record. The HRIS team will be announced this week. Thank you very much to everyone for the many, many hours of training that has gone into the team. Big thanks to Mr Sutton for his very successful throws training as well as all the parents who braved the early morning and holiday training sessions. I would especially like to thank Mrs McMullen and Mr Kosmeier for being there early every Monday, Wednesday & Friday to train those willing to come. HRIS Soccer & NetballOn Monday we had 6 teams travel to Newcastle to compete in the HRIS Netball & Soccer Gala Day. 3 girls netball teams competed at the National Netball Park where all teams had a fantastic day. Our Senior girls A & B teams improved steadily through the day and learnt so much and had a great time. Our Junior 3/4 team went through the day undefeated playing Newcastle Grammar in the final to become the Division Champions. This team also played with only 7 players, which is a fantastic effort. We would like to thank Mrs Lisa Brown, Mrs Lisa Barnes, Mrs Butler and Cindy for all their time placed into the teams before the carnival and on the day. The girls really appreciated your efforts.Our Soccer teams had a great day also with 3 teams playing at 3 venues across the city. Our year 6 team came 6th (out of 12) in their division, winning 2 games, drawing 1 & losing 1. The team played extremely well on the day and we would like to thank Mr Sutton for his coaching. The year 5 team was undefeated in the competition with the boys winning their division convincingly. We would like to thank Mr McLean for the coaching of this team and his time in training the boys. Our year 3/4 team played very coming 3rd in their division with Mr Thapa coaching this team to 2 wins, 2 draws

and and a loss. Year 5 HRIS Soccer Gala - B Division ChampionsOn Monday, 12 August a group of 14 players made their way to Federal Park, Wallsend to represent our school at the annual Football (Soccer) Gala Day. Team members were: Seth Chapman, Oliver Chippendale, Kai De-Bellis, Sebastian Ennis-Wallace, Joshua Hocking, Cameron Iveson, Will Jackson, Nate McLean, Nash Robertson, Lachlan Sladejovic, Harvey Smeed, Harrison Steele, Joshua Woutersz and Mackenzie Zammit. Angelo Zwaanswijk was selected in the team, but was unable to play. Thanks to Benjamin Thorpe and Mrs Julie Rogers for their support on the day.The team won all of their games and did not concede a single goal. The team scored over 20 goals in their six games, and played some very good football. The boys played with great spirit and with a positive attitude. They represented our school in an excellent manner. Several parents made the long trip up to watch, and their support was both valuable and much appreciated. Thanks also goes to Central Coast Mariners coach, and former Mariners player, Patrick Zwaanswijk for the time he spent with the team. The time he spent with the team made a significant difference.Well done boys!Walla RugbyThis Thursday our year 3/4 teams Walla Rugby will be playing at Bill Sohier Park, Ourimbah. The bus leaves at 8:30 from the sports centre and will be returning to school at 2:15.Milo CricketNext Tuesday is our year 6 Milo Cricket Gala Day. The students will be walking to Erina oval where we will have 4 teams competing in the Central Coast Milo Cricket Gala Day.
