This software supports the NintendoNetwork™.

Connect to the Internet to participatein multiplayer battles and chat withother players. You can also purchasethe upgrade from the free version tothe premium version and buyadditional submarines. For moreinformation, refer to the Multiplayersection of this manual.

4 Circle Pad Pro Instructions

◆ To calibrate the Circle Pad on theNintendo 3DS system, use thecalibration procedure in SystemSettings on the HOME Menu. Fordetails, see your Operations

2. Follow the instructions on thescreen to calibrate the RightCircle Pad.

1. Select Options (page 7) from theMain Menu, go to Calibrate CirclePad Pro, and select Calibrate.

If the system behaves as though theRight Circle Pad is being used evenwhen you aren't touching it or if thecontrols don't seem to operatecorrectly, you will need to calibratethe Right Circle Pad by following theprocedure below.

7 Saving and Erasing Game Data

Data can be lost due to useraction, such as repeatedlypowering off and on thesystem or removing a GameCard or SD Card whilesaving. Data loss may alsobe caused by poorconnectivity due to dirt ordust in the system's ports.Please be aware that in thesecases data cannot berestored.

Game data is automatically saved atthe end of a multiplayer battle or asingle-player mission.

OptionsIn addition to erasing save data,you can also adjust some ofthe control settings andconfigure the Circle Pad Pro.

◆ The status of your Steel Diver:Sub Wars game (free or premium)and any submarines youpurchased in the shop (DLC) willnot be erased.

Save data cannot be recoveredonce it has been erased. Please becareful.

To erase save data, go to EraseSave Data in the Options menu andselect Erase.

9 Viewing the Screen

The direction your submarine isfacing and torpedoes are aimedtoward.

Sight

Shows which direction yoursubmarine is facing.

Compass

This will be depleted every timeyour submarine takes damage. If itbecomes completely empty, you'resunk!

The angle of your submarine. Thegreen beam will move up or downaccording to the angle of yoursubmarine's nose.

Each torpedo you launch reducesthe number in your torpedo bay byone. When the number reacheszero, your torpedo bay will beginreloading automatically.

10 Engaging in Combat

Get the enemy vessel inyour sights, and wait forthe lock-on signal toappear. When you launchyour homing torpedo, itwill automatically track your enemy.

◆ Be aware that using sonar maygive away your own position toyour enemies.

Activating thesonar allowsyou to checkthe locationof enemiesand otherobjects on the touch screen.Enemies will also appear illuminatedon the Upper Screen.

Touching brings up theMorse-codescreen. Tap orhold accordingly toinput messages. Messages sentduring a team battle will be receivedby all teammates simultaneously.Touch to close the Morse-code screen.

Touch to activatethe masker and throwenemy homingtorpedoes off course.This will also activatestealth mode for yoursub for a short periodof time. Activating the masker usesup air, so you will not be able toactivate it if your remaining airsupply is insufficient.

Recovering a floatinglifeboat will give you anew crew member (page15) to choose from. Ifrecovered during asingle-player mission, the new crewmember will be added to yourroster after you complete themission successfully. If recoveredduring an Internet Mode game, thenew crew will be added to eachteam member's roster after thebattle ends.

◆ Sinking an enemy may causesupplies to appear.

Collect supplies to repairdamage to yoursubmarine or replenishyour stock of homingtorpedoes.

When playing this game, youmay have to move theNintendo 3DS system around.Make sure you have enoughroom before playing, and holdthe system firmly with bothhands while playing. Do notmove the system with excessiveforce, as this could causeinjuries, damage to the product,or damage to nearby objects.

◆ In Options, setting GyroscopeControls to ON will allow you toactivate the periscope by raisingyour system upward.

11 Team Battles

Blue Team players remaining

Red Team players remaining

The name of the player's Mii andthe player's team color.

Player information

Players will be split into Blue Team(four players) and Red Team (fourplayers). If there are fewer thaneight players, computer-controlledcaptains will control the remainingsubmarines.

In Internet Mode (page 12) andLocal Play (page 13), a maximum ofeight players can participate in four-vs.-four team battles.Both modes require that eachplayer have a Nintendo 3DS systemand a copy of the software.

During an Internet or Local Playbattle, the system cannot beput into Sleep Mode.

Select Combat Record to view yourown record or those of the playersyou've fought with or against inInternet battles. Choose MiiSettings to change your Mii.

Combat Record andMii Settings

If your submarine is sunk, you willno longer be able to participate inthe battle. You can either continueto observe as a spectator or exitmultiplayer. If you remain as aspectator until the end and yourteam wins, it will count as a victoryfor you.

If You Are Sunk

Sink all players on the opposingteam to win. If neither teamachieves this within the time limit,the winner will be the team with thegreater number of playersremaining.

12 Internet Mode

Search for players in the sameregion.

Same Region

Search for players from all over theworld.

Worldwide

Select Internet Mode, and thenchoose between a Worldwide, SameRegion, or Friends connection. ForWorldwide or Same Regionconnections, players will beautomatically split into Blue Teamand Red Team. In a Friend Battle,you can freely choose the teamsand stages.

Connect to the Internet to enjoymultiplayer battles with players fromall over the world. Each battle caninvolve a maximum of eight players.

Select Matchup Type

You can use Morse code to chatwith the other players while waitingfor the battle to begin.

Random Battle

Battle with randomly allocatedplayers, irrespective of skill level.

◆ To play in Friend Battle mode,you and your partners will needto be registered on each other'sfriend lists. You can registerfriends in the Friend List, whichyou can access from the HOMEMenu.

Battle against other players who areregistered on your Nintendo 3DSfriend list. You will need topurchase the premium version inorder to access Friend Battle.

Selecting Friends will take you tothe lobby. The first player to enterthe lobby can select the stage andset the time limit. Tap to chatin Morse code.

A victory in Internet mode willincrease the number of points onyour Combat Record. Once you'veaccumulated enough points, you'lllevel up and receive new subs andcamouflage patterns (page 15).Victories in battles with friends willnot increase the number of pointson your Combat Record.

13 Local Play

Joining a Group

Select Local Play, and then Joina Group.After joining a group, choosethe team you will fight for andthe submarine you will control.When you're ready, select OK.

Set the time limit, arena, teamyou will fight for, and submarineyou will control.

14 Single-Player Missions

These are earned by fulfillingspecial conditions. Collectingachievement medals allows you tounlock new subs and camouflagepatterns.

Acquire a certain number to unlocknew missions.

Adding Funds to YourAccount

additional submarines can onlybe used on the system that wasused to download them. Youcannot insert the SD Card intoanother system and use thecontent there. (If you use the System Transfer option under System Settings, you will be ableto use your submarines on thedestination system withoutproblems.)

One of the following is needed toadd funds to your account.

You must have the purchase price ofa submarine in your Nintendo eShopaccount balance in order to purchaseit. If you do not have enough fundsin your account, the following screenwill appear. Select Add Funds to addfunds to your account.
