MUSIC AND ORCHESTRA EQUIPMENT Orchestra Shell:

The State Theatre is equipped with a movable orchestra shell consisting of four ceiling panels and eight rolling towers. The acoustical surface is made of quarter-saw red oak. The shell has four configurations: the recital, or #1 set-up for soloists and small chamber groups; the chamber, or #2 configuration is for larger chamber groups and choir; the third configuration is for small orchestra; and the fourth is for full symphony orchestra. In addition to providing an excellent acoustical environment, the shell is visually stunning and provides a comfortable environment for musicians. The lighting in the shell ceiling provides an even 75 foot-candles throughout the shell. The following pages show an overhead view for each of the configurations. On the right side of center the space is defined by the towers, while on the left side of center a view of the ceiling panel is shown.

Risers:

The theatre has a full complement of orchestral risers, allowing three tiers of seating inside the shell at heights of 8”, 16” and 24”. Available are nineteen (19) 4’x 8’ platform risers; four (4) 4’x 6’ platform risers.
