A Reflection for the Seventh Sunday of Easter The Gospel of John contains no record of Jesus teaching the Lord’s Prayer. But if we read closely chapter 17 of John, several elements of the Our Father appear. The unity integral to that prayer compels Peter today to seek out someone to “become with us a witness to his resurrection.” The night before he dies, Jesus begs his Father, “Keep them in your name.” And the Psalmist proclaims, “All my being, bless his holy name.” We can do the same thanks to our belonging to the company Christ has given us in his one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.

“Let us adore Jesus in the Eucharistic silence. Souls of prayer are souls of great silence. We must endeavor to live alone with Jesus in the sanctuary of our inmost heart. In
reality there is only one substantial prayer, Christ himself. One voice which unites in itself all the voices raised in
prayer.” Saint Teresa of Calcutta

Adoration of the Holy Eucharist The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed Sunday through Friday between the hours of 3pm and 5 pm. There will be no ritual Exposition and Benediction, but the Blessed Sacrament will be simply exposed during those hours. This is simply time and space for individuals to be with the Lord Jesus Christ. These are opportunities for individuals to pray with the Lord, to listen to the Lord, or simply come to offer a prayer
or a rosary. Again, these are individual opportunities for prayer at the church. Of course, we are all encouraged to pray no matter where we are. Our Lady of Victory, pray for us!

Get to Know the Saints: St. Rita of Cascia, Widow (May 22) On May 22, the Church celebrates the feast day of St. Rita of Cascia, who the late John Paul II called “a disciple of the Crucified One” and an “expert in suffering.” She is invoked by people in all situations and stations of life, since she had embraced suffering with charity and wrongs with forgiveness in the many trials she experienced in her life: as a wife, widow, a mother surviving the death of her children, and a nun. Offertory – Online Giving Due to bulletin publishing deadlines, the offertory numbers are posted with a two-week lag. Our parish income, including offertory and donations for week ending May 2, 2021 netted roughly $4,889. This is below our anticipated budget expectations and falls far short of our obligations. ONLINE GIVING remains the quickest and most effective way to accomplish your offertory giving. You can still MAIL your envelopes or checks to the Parish Office. For those attending daily adoration or quiet prayer in the Lower Church, there is a secure offertory box located outside the doors in the Gathering Room for those who wish to drop off their envelopes or donations (3pm-5pm). ONLINE GIVING LINK: http://www.stmary-winchester.org/online-giving/ FAQs on the Online Giving FAQs page on our website.
