Life Application Questions
1. How does Mary’s act of worship, service, and sacrifice stand in direct
contrast to the religious leaders in John 11:48, to Judas in John 12:5, and
to the religious leaders in John 12:10? What do they each find to be most
glorious?
2. What details does John give us about Mary’s sacrifice in John 12:3? What
stands out to you the most?
3. There was no doubt Jesus was Mary’s highest priority and greatest
treasure. She brought costly perfume, she poured it on Jesus feet, she
humbled herself to the point of a servant, and the fragrance filled the
house. Jesus says Mary has chosen “the good portion”, or “the one thing
that matters most” from Luke 10:41-42.
A. Could the same be said of you? Do others know Jesus is your
highest priority, your greatest treasure, and the one thing that matters
most to you? Why or why not?
B. How would others know? What might this look like in your
workplace, in your family, with your children, with your friends, or in
your hobbies?
4. Take a few minutes to evaluate the way you spend your time, money,
energy, and resources. Based upon your evaluation, is God your greatest
treasure? If not, take some time to reflect upon the cross and the glory
of God found in what Jesus has done on your behalf.
