The Critical Period
There is a high possibility that if something is not done soon the USA will
not make it as a country…
The USA owes banks and people a lot of money and the government is
very “fragile”.
Hi kids…
We all know that people come up with some “ideas” that seem “great”.
But when you get them into the real
world…DAMN! WHAT A DISASTER
SEE!
Who could ever forget this
one?!?!
So what was wrong with the
AOC?A Confederation = a small groups of states.
1. The states had all the power…could not agree on anything…needed 9/13 of the states to approve laws.
2. No president or Chief executive3. Congress could tax but needed 9/13 of the states to approve.
5. No Supreme Court “system”…could not challenge the rules
4.No “real” army or navy6. Any state or bank could print money, nobody could accurately calculate values of all the different kinds, to different states.
Why did we go with such a
“weak”/ divided government you
ask?
Simple…
We FEARED A STRONG CENTRAL
GOVERNMENT THAT COULD ABUSE ITS
POWER…like the Brits did, so we gave all the
states the power.
THE ONLY GOOD THINGABOUT THE
AOC
Northwest Ordinance
It put down the “fast-track”
guidelines for a territory becoming a state and joining the
United States.
Farmers in New England could not pay off their debts. The local courts started to
imprison them and take their land away.
The farmers went ROGUE, and under the command of “Danny” Shay started to shut down the courts with violence.
The AOC and Congress was powerless to stop these guys.
Congress saw a major disasteron its hands
So it called a convention
In PhiladelphiaTo “revise” the Articles of
Confederation
