“Christmas In July”For Peru
Praise God for the wonderful Christmas celebration we experienced here at HGBC this year. The worship, giving, missions emphasis, youth-children participation, choir specials and the uniqueness of Christmas Eve will bless and encourage us for a long time to come. Celebrate and thank God. Pastor R. T. Daugherty was my early pastoral model, the man who guided me to faith in Christ and one that encouraged me always in the gospel ministry. He often said when God’s people attend, pray and have hearts right with Him, all other areas of church life will happen. Truer words cannot be spoken. As 2018 begins…..YOUR CHURCH NEEDS YOU!! All of us are important and all of us have a role to play in God’s Kingdom as lived in this church. Begin this year by being in the House of the Lord to worship, serve, give, pray and invite others. Our greatest need is for people to be faithful to God and thankful for the honor of serving Him through the church He has blessed us with. May our attitude and spirit be God honoring in every way, and God give us a great 2018. Thank you for the many cards and expressions of kindness shown Betty, Victor and me during this Christmas season. We are truly thankful to God and to you. See you Sunday.

Children’s Trip Sunday, January 14

Chutes is a 250 foot snowless winter tubing experience located at Crowders Ridge. Parents will need to accompany their children on the trip, but are not required to purchase ticket unless they plan on participating. See Tiffany to purchase your ticket before the 14th to save your spot. Limited tickets are available.

Rooted Student Ministries wil l be collecting $10 gift cards to help support On Eagles Wings Ministries. This is a safe house ministry in Charlotte that works with teens who have been in human t ra f f i ck ing . They p rov ide counseling, education and life skills that help the teens to return to society. Gift cards are needed as treats for birthdays, and rewards for chores around the home.

Happy New Year Hickory Grove! A new year of opportunities to share God’s love with others awaits. Are you ready to accept that responsibility? There is something symbolic about putting an old year behind us and stepping boldly into a new one. May we take that mindset and run into 2018 with hearts that are open and willing to being servants of the Lord. For several years our teens have participated in the county wide youth d isc ip lesh ip event known as 180 Weekend. It is always a spiritual highlight as they attend various Bible studies and worship services. This year we are partnering with a ministry called On Eagles Wings to help collect gift cards for teen girls who have been involved in human trafficking. This is a growing problem in North Carolina, especially in the Charlotte area. Instructions on how you can help Rooted Students in their collection can be found later in the newsletter. There will be a parents meeting on Sunday, January 21 to discuss the upcoming partnership with On Eagles Wings and to plan upcoming Rooted Student events. There are some fun family events planned for the coming weeks including a trip to Chutes at Crowders Ridge. Pay attention to the website and bulletin in the upcoming weeks for more information.
