Kickback is a sudden reaction to a pinched, bound, or misaligned saw blade, causing anuncontrolled saw to lift up and out of the work piece toward the operator.

When the blade is pinched or bound tightly by the kerf closing down, the blade stalls andthe motor reaction drives the unit rapidly back toward the operator.

If the blade becomes twisted or misaligned in the cut, the teeth at the back edge of theblade can dig into the top surface of the wood causing the blade to climb out of the kerfand jump back toward the operator.

Kickback is the result of tool misuse and/or incorrect operating procedures or conditions and can be avoided by taking proper precautions as given below:

2. Retract the lower guard (see Fig. 1).

3. Slip the blade into place (see Fig. 2).

4. Put clamp washers and clamping screw loosely in position.

5. Use the wrench to tighten the clamping screw while pressing down on the clamping knob (see Fig. 3 and Fig. 4).

6. Remove wrench.

7. Replace the battery pack.

• Put on eye protection.• Clear the saw of any foreign material.• Make sure the work piece is held securely in place. Hold smaller pieces in a vise

or attach to the workbench with clamps.• Mark out the line to be cut so it is easily visible.• Check the lower guard for damage. If damaged, do not use tool.
