The Centenary of the 1916 Easter Rising and the Proclamation of the Irish Republic is a time of huge significance for the people of Ireland.

This is a time for commemoration of those who worked, fought and died for Irish freedom. It is a time for celebration of the spirit of freedom and the progressive vision that motivated them.It is a time for renewed commitment to the values of the Proclamation: the sovereignty of the Irish people; the unity and independence of Ireland; equal rights and equal opportunities for all the people who share our island.

The 1916 Proclamation is a declaration of social and economic intent for a rights-based society in which the people are sovereign.

It is a freedom charter for this whole island and all the people who live here.

Principles of the Committee The 100th Anniversary of the Easter Rising provides an occasion that offers the possibility to engage with a broad spectrum of public opinion in commemorating this seminal event in Irish history.

The committee will:

• Explore all of the political narratives from this tumultuous period of our Republican history.

• Invite a broad spectrum of society to participate in progressive wide-ranging discourse on its impact on the development of politics and relationships on these islands and beyond.

• Ensure a dignified and hospitable atmosphere to encourage maximum participation from all political perspectives.

• Put forward a program of events that invites its participants to engage and explore the history of the Easter Rising from all perspectives.

• Appeal to the best of our ability for varied age/gender/political grouping participation in all events.

• Tailor events of 1916 within the wider historical context of the uprising and broader political climate of the era.

Is tréimhse an-tábhachtach í do mhuintir na hÉireann comóradh céad bliain Éirí na Cásca 1916 agus Fhorógra na Poblachta.

Tá sé tráthúil iad siúd a d’obair, a throid agus a d’éag ar son saoirse na hÉireann a chomóradh. Tá sé tráthúil spiorad na saoirse agus an fhís fhorásach a spreag iad a cheiliúradh. Tá sé tráthúil tiomantas athnuaite a dhéanamh ar luachanna an Fhorógra: ceannasacht mhuintir na hÉireann; aontas agus neamhspleáchas na hÉireann; comhchearta agus comhdheiseanna do na pobail uilig a chónaíonn ar oileán s’againne.

Tá Forógra 1916 ina dhearbhú rúin shóisialta agus eacnamaíochta i leith shochaí cheartbhunaithe ina bhfuil an ceannas ag an phobal.

is cairt saoirse í don oileán ar fad agus do na daoine uilig atá ina gcónaí anseo.

Prionsabail an Choiste Tugann Céad Bliain Éirí na Cásca deis dúinn a bheith ag plé le réimse leathan daoine maidir le comóradh an imeachta barrthábhachtaigh seo i stair na hÉireann.

Déanfaidh an Coiste:

• Plé leis na hinsintí polaitiúla uilig a tháinig as an tréimhse chorraiceach seo inár stair Phoblachtach.

• Deis a thabhairt do réimse leathan daoine a bheith rannpháirteach i gcomhrá fairsing forásach ar a iarmhairt ar fhorbairt na polaitíochta agus na gcaidreamh ar na hoileáin seo agus níos faide i gcéin.

• Atmaisféar sollúnta agus fáilteach a chinntiú chun an t-uasmhéid rannpháirtíochta a spreagadh ó gach dearcadh polaitiúil.

• Clár imeachtaí a chur chun tosaigh a iarrfaidh ar rannpháirtithe dul i ngleic agus plé le stair Éirí na Cásca ó gach taobh di.

• Rannpháirtíocht sna himeachtaí uilig a iarraidh de réir aoise, inscne/ghrúpaí polaitiúla eagsúla chomh fada agus is féidir linn.

• Imeachtaí 1916 a chur in oiriúint maidir le comhthéacs stairiúil an Éirí Amach agus le saol polaitiúil na ré úd.
