Lyndon High School

• Before the Internet, the PC or the Mac …

• Before Xbox, Wii, Playstation, SEGA, Super Nintendo, even before Atari …

• Before cell phones, CD's, DVD's, voicemail, e-mail, FaceBook and Twitter …

• Before you had to wear a helmet when riding a bicycle and before every consumer product required a written warning to keep you from hurting yourself.

First, let’s take a trip back in time —

Page 3: 1969 Lyndon High School class reunion

Remember some of the games we played as youngsters?

Hide ‘n’ seek.

Baseball and dodgeball on the blacktop east of the grade school …

Annie, Annie, Over …Work-up games at the Lyndon ballpark …

Checkers … Jump rope … Dominoes … Clue … Monopoly … Tetherball.

Page 4: 1969 Lyndon High School class reunion

Do you remember walking seven miles to school through snow up to your knees? OK, would you believe seven blocks in one inch of snow?

The sound of crickets.

Chasing lightning bugs or catching frogs at Salt Creek.

Swimming at Wileys’.

Going to the Giant.

Your own lemonade stand.

Page 5: 1969 Lyndon High School class reunion

Running through the sprinkler to cool off.

Shopping for a new toy at the downtown Gambles store or Beattie’s Variety Store.

Your very first baseball glove.

Ice pops with two sticks so you could share them with a friend.

Friday night football.

Milk jugs delivered right to your front porch.

Watching submarine races at Pomona Lake.

Page 6: 1969 Lyndon High School class reunion

But wait, there’s more …

The Beatles, the Stones and the Beach Boys.

Sunday School.

Your first date.

Report cards.

Crew cuts.

Thin ties — and always with a white shirt!

Your first kiss.

Vietnam … protests … hippies … Woodstock.

Page 7: 1969 Lyndon High School class reunion

Bucking bales and putting them in a hot barn.

Doing chores … like taking out the garbage, cutting the grass, washing the car, doing the dishes (the old-fashioned way!)

Ordering milkshakes or 400’s at Spring’s Drug.

Sneaking in freeat Osage Drive-in.

Trying to get your teammates to crack up during a photo session.

Page 8: 1969 Lyndon High School class reunion

Remember when being sent to the principal's office was nothing compared to the fate that awaited you at home.

When Supt. York showed up at our seventh grade class to announce President Kennedy had been assassinated.

Pretending you were going to be a farmer … a famous baseball player … a model … a rock star …

Page 9: 1969 Lyndon High School class reunion

And what about:Square dancing.

The old gym we called the Crackerbox.

George and Arlie’s, Jessop’s and Max Cates’ grocery stores.

The broom factory run by Doc Hoermann in downtown Lyndon.

Page 10: 1969 Lyndon High School class reunion

The new gymnasium being built east of LHS.

Spitwads on the ceiling of the auditorium.

Mr. Bronson’s tiny janitor’s closet beneath the stairs at LGS.

Two-a-days in football with no water cooler in sight — and no one got heat stroke.

Those great hairdos that defied gravity.

Page 11: 1969 Lyndon High School class reunion

Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.

The cage and the old locker rooms below the stage.

The smoke-filled men’s restroom at home basketball games.

The Lyndon ice plant.

Kayettes.

The weird smells in the downstairs cafeteria.
