THE FIRST 200 YEARS A knowledge of Ameri an hi tory is an invitation to e perien e the a -compli hment, drama, tra ed nd hope of an infant nation truggling to grow up. Sturdy, determined pioneer h k d away at the edg of a raw continent and, with blunder and achievement ali e, modeled a country with a spirit d n ture and a united commitment to individual Iibert for every one of its citizens. Ameri ans, great and not so great, have gi en us a herit ge to arry on and improv upon. Farmer and oldier , industri-ali t and mer hant , dreamer and leader , are all there in two centuries of progre .
But the maturing isn't fini hed. You'll find the boundaries of growth as endle toda a when our forefathers fir t envi ioned them. You can eek out your own de tiny with the wi dom and judgement which comes
with re-creation of the pa t. Your knowledge, dreams and industry will carry on through many more enturie of living hi tory.
