ERC Operations

• In emergency situations, calls for assistance must be handled in a professional and efficient way in order to mobilise the necessary rescue, police, social and health services with the appropriate urgency, impartially throughout the country and regardless of the hour.

• The work of emergency centre operators has changed and developed rapidly during the last few years.

• The training focuses on the holistic handling of emergency calls, handling the assignment over to the appropriate units and providing callers with advice.

Trainining curriculum

• The training has to follow the reality of the profession and since the planning of the curriculum has started by evaluating the requirements that need to be fulfilled in order to manage the operators work.

• The different learning environments play an important role in the new curriculum. These include training in special units, actual work placements, simulations and individual tasks using information networks.

• Today it is also possible to utilize the previous training and work history of the students by personal training portfolios, which will be made in co-operation between the student and the instructors.
