1. When an electric current flows through a coil of wire there is a magnetic field around the wire. One end of the coil becomes a north-seeking pole and the other end becomes a south-seeking pole. This is called an electromagnet.
2. Reversing the current in an electromagnet reverses the poles of the electromagnet.
