SAFETY INFORMATIONUsing the telephone can result in interfer-ence with the correct functioning of medi-cal equipment that is not sufficientlyshielded, particularly near the antenna.Please consult a doctor or the manufac-turer of the medical device if you have anyquestions. Other electronic equipment canalso be affected by electromagnetic inter-ference.

If you are in an area where there is dangerof explosion, e.g. filling stations, chemicalfactories or places where blasting work isbeing done, switch your telephone off.

Emergency calls

As with every other mobile telephone, theRadiophone operates using a combinationof mobile radio and cross-country net-works, radio signals and functions pro-grammed by the user. As a result, there isno guarantee that your call will always gothrough. Never depend exclusively on amobile telephone or similar equipmentunder life-threatening circumstances (e.g.in medical emergencies).The telephone interface of the Radiophoneis only able to make and receive calls whenit is activated, located in an area servedby a GSM 900 radio network and whenthe signal is strong enough.Emergency calls may not be possible onall mobile telephone networks or only ifcertain network services and/or certainperformance features are active. Contactthe local network operators for more de-tailed information.

Please read this instruction manual for fur-ther information and consult your local serv-ice provider.

When placing an emergency call, be sure tosupply all the necessary information as ac-curately as possible. Remember that yourmobile telephone may be the only means ofcommunication at the scene of an accident.

Safety information Traffic safety

Traffic safety always has the highest prior-ity.As the driver of a motor vehicle, it is yourresponsibility to pay attention to the trafficsituation at all times. Never use your carradio in a way that could distract you.Please keep in mind that you travel a dis-tance of 14 m per second at a speed ofonly 50 km/h.Should the traffic situation become particu-larly demanding, we advise you not to usethis equipment.Always make sure that you are still able tohear any warning signals coming from out-side of your vehicle, such as police or fireengine sirens, so that you can react ac-cordingly.Consequently, you should always select amoderate volume for playing your car au-dio equipment while you are driving.

Using the telephone while driving

Please observe all laws and regulationsregarding the use of mobile telephones inmotor vehicles.• Concentrate fully on your driving.• Stop at a safe place before using the

telephone.• If otherwise unavoidable:

Use only hands-free operation if youhave to use the telephone while you aredriving.

Traffic safety always has the highest prior-ity.

Using the telephone in criticalareas

Always switch off the mobile telephone inareas where it is forbidden to use a mo-bile phone or if this equipment could causeelectromagnetic interference or otherwisedangerous situations.

Remote controlUsing the RCT 07 infrared remote control(7 607 570 510) you can conveniently controlall of the most important functions of yourRadiophone from the steering wheel.

Handset (telephone receiver)With the TH 07 Blaupunkt handset (7 607 570512) it is possible to place telephone calls withor without using the hands-free function.The system will switch automatically fromhands-free to handset operation when thehandset is removed from the cradle.

There is a relatively strong magnet inthe handset.Keep everything that could react adverselyto magnetic fields well away from the hand-set. This includes diskettes, check cards,etc. Important data may be deleted.

AmplifiersAll Blaupunkt amplifiers

Voice control system(Available for German only)

Using the VOCS 08 voice control system, youcan control the most important system func-tions by speaking certain commands aloudin German.Because the motorist is subjected to a mini-mum amount of distraction when operatingthe equipment using a voice control system,this feature makes an important contributionto road safety.

SIM cardThis Radiophone has been equipped for tel-ephone operation using modern 3-V SIMcards. Please ask your dealer for more infor-mation.

Do not hang up until you are told to do so.

Also read the information in the section on“Telephone operation - GSM emergencycalls”.

Safety standardsThe mobile telephone has been manufacturedin accordance with all of the applicable radiofrequency (RF) safety standards and recom-mendations determined by the governmentoffices and organisations responsible (e.g. theVDE standard DIN-0848).

InstallationOnly a trained service technician is author-ised to install and service the Radiophone inyour vehicle. Faulty installation or servicingcan be dangerous and will result in the expiryof your guarantee.

This equipment must not be operated with-out a suitable GSM or combination antennamounted on the outside of the vehicle. Theequipment including the GSM or combinationantenna must be installed by an authorisedBosch service centre only.

To ensure trouble-free operation, the positivepower supply line must be connected via theignition and the permanent +12 V lead.

Do not ground the speaker outputs!

You can use the following Blaupunkt productswith this equipment:

CD changersThe Blaupunkt CDC A 08 and the IDC A 09CD changers can be connected to the Ra-diophone.

Removing the SIM cardNever just pull out the SIM card.You could destroy it.

➮ Push the SIM card in gently, towards theRadiophone.

The card tongue holding the SIM card willeject.

➮ Remove the SIM card.

Switching the Radiophone on/offwith the vehicle ignition➮ When the Radiophone is on, switch off

the vehicle ignition and remove the igni-tion key.

The Radiophone will switch off.

➮ Switch on the ignition.

The Radiophone will switch on if you switchedit off with the vehicle ignition.

Note:If the ignition timer is switched on, the Radio-phone will not switch off until after the timeset has elapsed.If the SIM card is still in the Radiophone whenit is switched off, you will hear two beeps.If the ignition is switched off during a telephonecall, the Radiophone will remain switched onuntil the telephone call has been completed.

Set the ignition timerYou can set the ignition timer to determinewhether and how long the Radiophone shouldcontinue to play after the ignition has beenswitched off.

➮ If you are in telephone mode, press theSRC button to switch to radio operation.

➮ Press OK to access the DSC menu.

➮ Use / to select the menu item Setup.

➮ Press OK.

➮ Press / to select the menu item Ignit.timer.

Operating the Radiophone

Audio operation (without thetelephone)➮ Press ON.

Note:If the card tongue is not pushed in when youswitch on the unit, the Radiophone will switchoff again automatically after 15 seconds.If you push the card tongue in within the first15 seconds, the Radiophone will not switchoff.When you switch on the Radiophone for thefirst time,

➮ enter the four-digit safety code in the ra-dio pass using the 0 - 9 buttons.

If you enter an incorrect digit,

➮ press CLR to delete the digit.

➮ Press OK to confirm the code.

For audio and telephoneoperationWith the card tongue pushed in,

➮ press the card tongue gently in the direc-tion of the Radiophone until you feelslight resistance.

➮ Release the card tongue.

The card tongue will now eject from the Ra-diophone.

➮ Lay the SIM card on the card tonguewith the chip facing upwards and to-wards the Radiophone and push it intothe slot until you feel slight resistance.

➮ Press the SIM card gently down at theback onto the card tongue so that it islying completely on the card tongue.

➮ Push the card tongue into the Radio-phone gently until you feel slight resist-ance and you hear the card tongue clickinto position.

The Radiophone will switch on. If the PIN in-quiry has been activated, ENTER PIN will

➮ Press / to select the desired settingfrom between 0 (no delay) and 90 min.

➮ Press OK.

➮ Press SRC to exit the DSC menu.

Switching on the Radiophonewhen the ignition is switched off➮ Press ON.

The Radiophone will switch on.

To avoid running down the battery, the Ra-diophone will switch off again automaticallyafter one hour.

Switching the Radiophone onafter the unit has beendisconnected from its powersupplyIf the Radiophone has been disconnectedfrom the battery (e.g. when the vehicle is be-ing repaired) and is reconnected, you will berequired to enter the security code in the ra-dio pass the first time you switch it on again.

OPERATING THE RADIOPHONE

Basic functions

Selecting the audio modeYou can switch between radio, CD changeroperation and the operation of an auxiliaryaudio source (if connected).

➮ Press SRC repeatedly until the functionsfor the operating mode you want to se-lect appear in the display.

Direct access to functions (PaX)You can program the PaX button with onefunction you use frequently for direct access.

Select one of the following functions:

● Radiotext

● Telephone number

● Mailbox

● Send SMS

● Network selection

● Call forwarding

● Telephone book

Note:You can change the function you have se-lected for the PaX button at any time.

Programming the PaX button➮ Press and hold down the PaX button for

longer than one second.

The list of available functions will appear inthe display. If the PaX button has already beenprogrammed, the cursor will indicate the func-tion currently selected.

➮ Press / to select the desired func-tion.

➮ Press OK.

PaX program. finished will appear in the dis-play.The main telephone menu will now appear inthe display. The PaX button is ready to use.

Activating the PaX functionTo activate the function you have programmedon the PaX button,

➮ press the PaX button briefly.

Controlling/adjusting the volume

Controlling the system volumeOnce the Radiophone has been switched on,it will play at the pre-defined power-on vol-ume.

➮ To increase the system volume, turn thevolume control to the right.

➮ To decrease the system volume, turn thevolume control to the left.

The volume level selected will appear in thedisplay.

Adjusting the power-on volume(Volume FIX)➮ Press OK to access the DSC menu.

➮ Press / to select the menu itemRadio.

➮ Press OK.

➮ Press / to select the menu itemVolume FIX.

➮ Press OK.

➮ Press / or turn the volume controlknob to adjust the Radiophone to the de-sired power-on volume level.

➮ Press OK.

If you select the Last Volume option, thepower-on volume will be the volume last setbefore the Radiophone was switched off.

Adjusting the beep volumeYou will hear a beep whenever you activatefunctions that require you to press a buttonfor longer than one second.You can set the beep volume to a level from0 to 9.

➮ Press OK.

➮ Press / to adjust the Radiophone tothe desired volume level.

Adjusting the volume for trafficannouncements (TA Volume)You can adjust the volume for traffic an-nouncements and for the message that thereis no traffic radio station currently available.The traffic announcement will be broadcastat this volume, even if the system volume islower.

Tone and balance/fader

Treble➮ Press AUDIO.

➮ To adjust the treble, press or .

Bass➮ Press AUDIO.

➮ To adjust the bass, press or .

Balance➮ Press AUDIO twice.

➮ To adjust the balance between the left/right speakers, press or .

Fader➮ Press AUDIO twice.

➮ To adjust the fader between the front/rear speakers, press or .

To exit the Audio menu, press AUDIO again.Or, after a few seconds, the menu will switchback to the main menu automatically.

Music/Speech tone adjustmentRDS radio stations differentiate betweenmusic and speech programs.You can adjust the tone for speech programs:

Off - no tone adjustmentLevel 1 - linear (no bass, treble and Loud-

ness changes)Level 2 - 4 - different adjustments for volume,

bass and treble with Loudnessswitched off

Choose the setting you prefer.Traffic announcements are always played inthe “Speech” mode.

Loudness

Switching Loudness on/off➮ To switch Loudness on/off,

press AUDIO for approx. 1 second untilyou hear a beep.

LOUDNESS ON or LOUDNESS OFF willappear briefly in the display.

Adjusting Loudness increaseLoudness boosts low frequencies for morebass, especially at low volume, for a morenatural sound.You can adjust the Loudness setting as fol-lows:

LOUD 1 - minimum boostLOUD 6 - maximum boost

CODE theft protectionThe Radiophone has been equipped with acode for effective protection against theft. Thecode must be entered each time the unit isdisconnected from its power supply. The codeinquiry can be switched on or off.

Switching the code inquiry on/off➮ With the Radiophone switched off, press

and hold down number keys 1 and 4.

➮ Switch the Radiophone on by insertingthe SIM card or pressing the ON button.

A code inquiry will appear in the display.

➮ Use the number keys to enter the validcode.

The code inquiry will be switched either on oroff.

Note:You will find the valid code in the radio passincluded with the Radiophone.If the code is entered incorrectly three times,you will have to wait for a fixed time period.“WAIT 1 HOUR” appears in the display. Theunit must remain switched on during this hour.

Radio operationThis Radiophone has been equipped with anRDS radio receiver. Many FM stations nowtransmit a signal along with their regular pro-gramming to provide such additional informa-tion as the station name. The station namewill appear in the display as soon as it is re-ceived.Other RDS advantages include the AF andREG functions.

Selecting the radio modeIf the Radiophone is currently in the telephoneor CD changer mode,

➮ press SRC repeatedly until the radiomode functions appear.

Note:The telephone mode has priority. If the phoneis in use, you cannot switch to the radio orCD changer modes.

RDS convenience functions(AF, REG)The RDS convenience functions, AF (Alter-nate Frequency) and REG (REGional), en-hance the performance of your car radio.

● AF: When this RDS function has beenactivated, the radio will automaticallysearch for the best frequency in recep-tion range of the station selected.

● REG: A number of radio stations broad-cast special programs for different re-gions with different contents. If you acti-vate the REG function, the radio will notautomatically switch to an alternate fre-quency with different regional program-ming.

Switching AF on/off➮ Press #/AF briefly.

“AF” will light up in the display when this RDSfunction has been activated.

General information

Emergency callUsing the Antares T 60 telephone, you canmake emergency calls at any time anywherein the world. Emergency calls can also bemade without a valid SIM card. All you needis a GSM 900 network.The emergency number in the GSM networkis 112 all over the world. Your call is alwaysput through to the nearest rescue control cen-tre.

➮ Switch the Radiophone on by pushingin the card tongue in.

If the Radiophone was switched off by press-ing the on/off button,

➮ press the on/off button.

The Radiophone will switch on.

➮ Press .

The telephone mode will be activated, butplease note: No valid SIM card will appearin the display.

➮ Enter 112 on the 12-button keypad.

➮ Press .

The call will be put through to the nearest res-cue control centre.

Provide them with all of the necessary infor-mation as accurately as possible.

Do not end the call until you are told to do so!

Important:Use the 112 number in emergency situationsonly. Any improper use of the emergency callnumber could have legal consequences.

Starting telephoneoperation

Selecting the telephone modeIf you have already inserted a valid SIM card,

➮ press .

The telephone mode will be activated. Thenetwork selected will appear in the display.

Inserting the SIM cardWith the card tongue pushed in,

➮ press the card tongue gently in the di-rection of the Radiophone until you feelslight resistance.

➮ Release the card tongue.

The card tongue will now eject from the Ra-diophone.

➮ Lay the SIM card on the card tonguewith the chip facing upwards and to-wards the Radiophone and push it intothe slot until you feel slight resistance.

➮ Press the SIM card gently down at theback onto the card tongue so that it islying completely on the card tongue.

➮ Push the card tongue into the Radio-phone gently until you feel slight resist-ance and you hear the card tongue clickinto position.

The Radiophone will switch on. If the PIN in-quiry has been activated, ENTER PIN willappear in the display. Also refer to “Switchingthe PIN code on/off”.

Entering the PIN codeThe PIN code (personal identification number)protects your telephone against being usedby unauthorised persons. The PIN code andthe PUK (Personal Unblock code) are sup-plied along with the SIM card by your serviceprovider. You can change the PIN code at anytime; for more information, read “Changing thePIN code”.

Important:Be sure to memorise your PIN code anddo not reveal it to any unauthorised per-sons.

When ENTER PIN appears in the display,

➮ enter your PIN number on the 0 - 9keypad, beginning with the first digit.

➮ After you have entered the PIN codecompletely, press OK or #.

Note:If you enter the PIN code incorrectly threetimes in succession, the SIM card will belocked. For more information, refer to the sec-tion on “Unblocking the SIM card”.

Once the PIN code has been entered cor-rectly and confirmed, the Radiophone willswitch on and the operating mode used last(radio, CD changer or telephone) will be acti-vated.

Switching the PIN code on/offIf your SIM card supports this function, it ispossible to switch the PIN inquiry on or off. Ifthe PIN inquiry is switched off, anyone canuse your SIM card and the Antares T 60 tel-ephone. If the PIN inquiry is active, the validPIN must be entered each time you switchthe Radiophone on.

Note:It is not possible to switch off the PIN inquiryunless your SIM card supports this function.

➮ Press to switch to the telephonemode.

➮ Press OK.

The DSC menu will appear in the display. Thecursor will mark Setup.

➮ Press OK.

➮ Press as often as necessary until thecursor marks the menu item PIN-code.

Unblocking the SIM cardIf you enter an incorrect PIN three times insuccession, the SIM card will be locked. Tounblock the SIM card, you have to enter thePUK. PUK stands for Personal UnblocK code.The PUK is an eight-digit number, suppliedby your service provider along with your SIMcard and the PIN code. The PUK cannot bechanged!If you insert a blocked SIM card into the Ra-diophone, ENTER PUK will appear in the dis-play.

Basic functions

Adjusting the volumeYou can adjust the volume for the ringing tone,hands-free function and for the handset (thehandset is available as a special accessory)during a telephone call.

➮ During a telephone call (while thephone is ringing or while you are speak-ing), turn the volume control knob to theleft to decrease the volume and to theright to increase the volume.

It is also possible to adjust the volumes forthe ringing tone, hands-free function and forthe handset in a menu.

Adjusting the ringing tone volumeThe ringing tone volume can be adjusted inthe menu in stages from 0 to 9.

Note:By selecting 0 you will switch the ringing toneoff. Incoming calls will then be indicated visu-ally in the display only.

Using the telephone

Dialing phone numbersYou can dial phone numbers in four differentways:

● Manual dialing

● One-touch dialing

● Speed-dial and

● Selecting numbers from the phonebook.

Manual dialing➮ Use the 0 - 9 number keys to enter the

number you want to dial, including thearea code.

➮ If you enter an incorrect digit by mistake,you can press CLR, and to correctyour mistake.

➮ Once you can see the complete numberin the display, press .

The Radiophone will now dial the number.

Note:When you dial numbers in the GSM network,you are always required to dial the area codefirst. Even if you dial the mobile phone numberof a subscriber in the same network, you muststill dial the area code first. The only numberswhich do not require an area code are theservice numbers supplied to you by your pro-vider.

One-touch dialing (from the Radiophonememory)You can dial the phone numbers stored forkeys 1 to 9 on your Radiophone at the touchof a button.

➮ Press down the corresponding key from1 - 9 to dial the number stored in theRadiophone memory.

The corresponding number or the name en-tered for the number will appear in the dis-play and the dialing process will begin.

Speed-dial (from the SIM card memory)You can dial the phone numbers stored forkeys 1 to 9 on your SIM card at the touch of abutton.

➮ Press *.

➮ Press down the corresponding key from1 - 9 to dial the number stored in theSIM card memory.

The corresponding number or the name en-tered for the number will appear in the dis-play and the dialing process will begin.

Selecting a number from the phone bookTelephone numbers that you have alreadystored in the phone book can also be selecteddirectly. For more information on storing num-bers and names in the phone book, pleaserefer to the chapter entitled “Phone book”.

➮ While the Radiophone is in the tel-ephone mode, press MEM.

The phone book will appear. You can chooseas to whether you want to find the entry by itsname or its position in the memory.

➮ Press to select the search methodyou want to use.

➮ Press OK.

Finding an entry by nameIf you select the option Find entry by name,you will be required to enter the first few let-ters of the name.

➮ Use the 0 - 9 keys to enter up to the firstthree letters of the entry. For more infor-mation, read the section on “Enteringnames and telephone numbers” in thechapter entitled “Phone book”.

➮ Press OK.

The corresponding section of the phone bookwill appear in the display. If there is no entrymatching the letters entered, the section withthe next closest letter will appear.

Automatic redialIn the Setup menu, you can make a settingso that the number is redialled automaticallyuntil the call goes through.

Hold/broker’s callsHold means that you place or receive a sec-ond call, while you are already using the tel-ephone. You can only speak to one caller at atime. The callers have no contact with oneanother.

HoldWhen you are already using the phone,

➮ press MEM to activate the hold function.

➮ Now you can use the 0 - 9 buttons toenter the telephone number for the sec-ond call.

➮ Once the complete number appears inthe display, press .

The call will be put through to the secondnumber. The first caller will stay on “hold”.

Broker’s callsA broker’s call means you switch from onecaller to the other.

➮ Press MEM to switch between the twocallers.

Note:With a caller on “hold”, you can also accept athird incoming call. Press OK to accept thecall or CLR to reject it.

If you accept a third call, the connection tothe active caller will be terminated.

Conference callsWith conference calls there is a direct con-nection between all of the callers.Once you have two callers as described inthe section on “Hold/broker’s calls”,

The conference call will be set up. CONFER-ENCE will appear in the display.

Ending a conference callTo end the conference call,

➮ press CLR.

Note:During a conference call you can also answera call from a third caller. Press OK to answerthe call or CLR to reject it. The conferencewill be put on “hold”. Then you can press MEMto switch between the conference call and thethird caller (broker’s call).

Notebook functionDuring a telephone call you can use thekeypad to enter a telephone number. After thecall has ended, the number will appear in thedisplay and can be used as desired.

Note:If the vehicle ignition is switched off during atelephone call, the Radiophone will switch offautomatically after the call has ended. Anytelephone number you have entered in thenotebook will be deleted.

Foreign callsThe internationally uniform GSM standardallows you to place telephone calls with yourRADIOPHONE in foreign countries as well.

It is necessary that there is a roaming agree-ment between the service providers in the twocountries. In addition, your service providermust activate international roaming for yourSIM card.

You can obtain a current list of the countrieswith the service providers responsible (net-work code and name) and the differentcharges involved.

Note:If you want to place calls using your RADIO-PHONE in a foreign country, contact yourservice provider well in advance.

How do I call a wired network telephonenumber in the foreign country?➮ Dial the area code and

The country code is not entered because yourRadiophone has logged onto the foreign net-work.

Selecting a networkIn areas served by more than one GSM net-work, you can select a preferred network. It isnecessary for your provider to have a roam-ing agreement with that network. In addition,you can also list the networks according topriority. This can prove useful for your tripsabroad because sometimes the difference inthe charges made by the different networksis considerable. For more information, readthe section on “Foreign calls”.

Mailbox (Mobile box)The mailbox (also known as Mobile box) isan answering machine made available to youby your provider. To use the mailbox, you haveto enter the mailbox number. You can obtainthe mailbox number from your provider.

So that any incoming calls you miss are for-warded to the mailbox, you have to set upcall forwarding for the mailbox. For informa-tion on setting up call forwarding and the in-structions, refer to the section on “Call for-warding” in the chapter on “Using the tel-ephone”.

PIN code - Personal Identification Number

PIN 1Prevents your SIM card from being used byunauthorised persons. You must enter the PINcode each time you insert the SIM card.

PIN 2Code required for special functions.If you have authorisation for the use of spe-cial functions with your card, you need a PIN2-code.Both codes come with the SIM card and canbe altered.

PUK - Personal Unblock Key, Master PINCode, Super PIN, etc.

Eight-digit unblock code which can reactivatethe SIM card. This becomes necessary if thePIN code for the SIM card has been enteredincorrectly three times.The PUK code comes with the SIM card andcannot be altered. Make sure you keep it in asafe place.

International RoamingMaking telephone calls in foreign countrieswith your own telephone or your own SIM cardusing a different network operator/serviceprovider. There must be a roaming agreementbetween your service provider and the for-eign network.

MailboxElectronic mailbox provided by network op-erators/service providers for spoken mes-sages. The mailbox can be compared to ananswering machine.

MEM - Memory

Retrieves stored data, such as radio stations,telephone numbers.

MIXCDs/CD tracks are played in random order.

MUTESwitches off the microphone in the telephonemode.

PaX - Personal Access

Allows direct access to a function in radio orCD mode which was previously stored.

SIM card - Subscriber Identification Module

For radio and telephone operation. The SIMcard used here is in credit-card format. It isalso possible to use the small SIM card (plug-in card) with an adapter card.The SIM card contains all of the data requiredto identify the subscriber, to allocate the tel-ephone number and the personal phonebook.

SMS - Short Message Service

Using this function it is possible to send othersubscribers messages up to 160 charactersin length, even if the recipient’s cellular phoneis not switched on or a call cannot be putthrough at the present time.The text is stored in the network until the re-cipient retrieves it or the time allowed by thesender expires.

Speed-dialThis function allows you to dial telephonenumbers at the touch of a button.

SRC - Source

Switches audio source between radio, CDchanger and AUX. Returns the system fromtelephone to radio operation.

TA - Traffic Announcement (priority for trafficmessages)

“TA” in the display indicates that traffic an-nouncement priority is switched on.

TP - Traffic Program

“TP” in the display indicates that the radio iscurrently tuned into a radio station whichbroadcasts traffic information.

TS - Travelstore

Automatically stores the radio stations withthe strongest reception signals, can be re-trieved by pressing the station preset buttons.Very useful on trips.

User groupIt is possible to limit the use of the telephoneto a certain group of users. Your network op-erator/service provider can provide more de-tailed information.
