3 rd -5th Grade Music Class Lesson Plan Date(s): September 25 th -29 th , 2017 Grade Level(s): 3 rd -5 th Grade STANDARDS Singing alone and with others using proper head voice technique OBJECTIVES Students will sing alone and with others Students will sing using proper head voice technique Students will sing rounds ASSESMENTS 1. Demonstrate by singing proper head-voice technique PROCEDURES Students will enter the classroom and recite the rules before being seated Students will warm up using solfage “Do, Re, Mi” and proper hand signs I will remind students about proper singing posture o Stand tall o Hands by your side o Facing teacher o Mouth tall I will introduce a round as “A round is simply a musical composion in which two or more voices sing exactly the same melody but starng at different mes.” o Composion-wrien music o Melody- Pleasing sequence of musical notes and rhythms We will sing the simple song “Are You Sleeping” pg. 5 o Aſter the students are comfortable singing each line, I will assign parts o We will clap each rhythm for each line using rhythm syllables ‘Ta” and “-” o We will sing the melody on solfage using syllables and hand signs We will repeat these steps for “All Things Shall Perish From” on Pg. 4 If me permits, I will introduce more challenging songs to sing
