• Keep work area clean, free of clutter and well lit. Cluttered and dark work areas cancause accidents.

• Do not use where there is a risk of causing a fire or an explosion;e.g. in the presenceof flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Some tools create sparks, which may ignite the dustor fumes.

• Keep children and bystanders away while operating this water pump. Distractions cancause you to lose control, so visitors should remain at a safe distance from the work area.

• Be aware of all power lines, electrical circuits, water pipes and other mechanical hazardsin your work area, particularly those hazards below the work surface hidden from the operator's view that may be unintentionally contacted and may cause personal harm orproperty damage.

• Be alert of your surroundings. Using a water pump in confined work areas may put you dangerously close to cutting tools and rotating parts.

ELECTRICALSAFETY

WARNING! Always check to ensure the power supply corresponds to the voltage on therating plate.

• Do not abuse the cord. Never carry this water pump by its power cord, or yank powercord or extension cords from the receptacle. Keep power and extension cords away fromheat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Replace damaged cords immediately. Damagedcords may cause a fire and increase the risk of electric shock.

• Grounded tools must be plugged into an outlet properly installed and grounded in accordance with all codes and ordinances. Never remove the grounding prong or modifythe plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs. Check with a qualified electrician if youare in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly grounded.

2

• Double insulated tools are equipped with a polarized plug (one blade is wider than theother). This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in theoutlet, reverse the plug. If it still doesn't fit, contact a qualified electrician to install a polarized outlet. Do not change the plug in any way.

• Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges, and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is grounded.

• When operating a water pump outside, use an outdoor extension cord marked “W-A” or“W”. These cords are rated for outdoor use and reduce the risk of electric shock.

• Extension Cord Use.

A. Use only 'Listed' extension cords. If used outdoors, they must be marked “For OutdoorUse.” Those cords having 3-prong grounding type plugs and mating receptacles are to beused with grounded tools.

B. Replace damaged or worn cords immediately.

C. Check the name plate rating of your tool. Use of improper size or gauge of extensioncord may cause unsafe or inefficient operation of your tool. Be sure your extension cordis rated to allow sufficient current flow to the motor. For the proper wire gauge for yourtool, see chart.

CHART FOR MINIMUM WIRE SIZE OF EXTENSION CORD:

If in doubt, use larger cord. Be sure to check voltage requirements of the tool to your incoming power source.

• Do not let your fingers touch the terminals of plug when installing to or removing fromthe outlet.

• Ground fault circuit interrupters. If work area is not equipped with a permanentlyinstalled Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter outlet (GFCI), use a plug-in GFCI between powertool or extension cord and power receptacle.

PERSONAL SAFETY

• Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a waterpump. Do not use a water pump while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result inserious personal injury.

• Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing, dangling objects, or jewelry. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry or long hair can becaught in moving parts. Air vents often cover moving parts and should be avoided.

• Use safety apparel and equipment. Use safety goggles or safety glasses with sideshields which comply with current national standards, or when needed, a face shield. Useas dust mask in dusty work conditions. This applies to all persons in the work area. Alsouse non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, gloves, dust collection systems, and hearing protec-tion when appropriate.

3

• Avoid accidental starting. Ensure the switch is in the off position before plugging pumpinto power outlet. In the event of a power failure, while a pump is being used, turn theswitch off to prevent surprise starting when power is restored.

• Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times.

• Remove adjusting keys or wrenches before connecting to the power supply or turningon the pump. A wrench or key that is left attached to a rotating part of the water pump mayresult in personal injury.

WATER PUMP USE AND CARE

• Do not force the pump. Water pumps do a better and safer job when used in the mannerfor which they are designed. Plan your work, and use the correct pump for the job.

• Never use a pump with a malfunctioning switch. Any water pump that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired by an authorized service representative before using.

• Disconnect power from pump and place the switch in the locked or off position beforeservicing, adjusting, installing accessories or attachments, or storing. Such preventivesafety measures reduce the risk of starting the water pump accidentally.

• Store idle pumps. When the pump is not in use, store it in a dry, secure place out of thereach of children. Inspect pump for good working condition prior to storage and before re-use. Protect water pump from frost.

• Use only accessories that are recommended by the manufacturer for your model.Accessories that may be suitable for one pump may create a risk of injury when used onanother pump.

• Keep guards in place and in working order.

OPERATION

NOTE: It is necessary that you install the foot valve (included) if you are drawingwater from a source that is lower than the pump. The foot valve should be installed onthe bottom of the inlet pipe. A foot valve is a one-way valve that will only allow thewater to flow in one direction. This should prevent the need to prime the pump everytime you use it by keeping the water in the inlet pipe from draining out after the pumpis turned off. Check the pump for prime each time you use it. Running the pump drywill damage it.

To Prevent Burn-Out of Pump

WARNING:When installing, please ensure the pump is disconnected from electrical supply.

To prevent possible injuries to people, avoid inserting hands into the mouth of the pump if thisis connected to an electrical outlet.

1. Pump is only to be used with clear (clean) water. Dirty water or sand will

damage pump. If water is dirty you must use a filter on the inlet.

2. If pump is new or has not been used for a period of time the pump shaft

must be turned several times by hand before pump is turned on.

4

3. Do not allow pump to run dry.

4. If flow of water to pump inlet is restricted such as when used with a control valve: Do not

run pump continuously; run at intervals (turn the pump off for 10 minutes after the pump

runs continuously for 1 hour). Do not shut down the pump over 24 hours.

5. Pump must be installed in horizontal position only (outlet facing upward).

6. Pump motor and terminal box are not waterproof. Water should not come

in contact with motor or terminal box.

7. Drain pump if temperature falls below freezing.

Wiring Instructions

WARNING: Make sure cord set is not plugged into an outlet during initial set-up and wiring.

1. Prepare a three core electric cord set with plug.

2. Loosen the screws on the black plastic boxon the top of the pump.

3. When you open the plastic box on the top of the pump, you will find the short electriccord is already in place. Take out the electriccord any lay the new electric cord back.

4. Loosen the ground screw marked with “ ”and fasten the ground wire on to it.

5. Put back the black wiring kit cover andscrew it tight.
