SHOOT-TO-SELL
In this course, you will be learning how to shoot-to-sell products that we sell at my studio. Here are three products we will be talking about and using in your price list:
A Series Of Three – Three images shot sequentially of a naturally occurring event. Examples: A girl twirling in a dress, siblings looking at each other, then smiling, then laughing

A Series Of Four – A collection of four images with some shared attributes that make them a cohesive collection. Examples: Four black and white images of different family members in which they were all photographed in the same outfits and in the same setting, or four images of a senior in the same setting but in different poses with their sports equipment.

A Series Of Nine – A collection of nine images of the same person, at relatively the same size in each frame, with different poses or expressions.

WHAT TO AVOID:
If you don’t have any images that will work in this combination, this would be a great time to practice shooting and get some samples. If you are newer to portraits, have your subjects wear simple clothing without words, pictures or busy patterns. Put them in simple lighting without distraction and try to evoke as much emotion as you can (funny faces and snuggles). If you are shooting outdoor, putting your subjects in the shade is the best. Try to avoid bright sunlight behind them as well as distracting trees. If you are shooting inside, put them near a window and use a reflector to bounce light on the shadow side. If you are an advanced photographer but don’t have these combinations, this is a great time to do something new.
Avoid grouping images together that do not adhere to the defined rules above. The idea is you are shooting images that look cohesive when framed together and make a saleable product, not just a collage frame to put a bunch of images in. Here are some less successful examples to avoid:
