Canadians ta%e the lead in the third period, he turns to his son, 2imitri and tells

Cross waits at the 5oover 'uilding for the Wolf(s 2en to get bac% to him regarding

"otter(s" next purchase! 2isgusted by these men, Cross wants to bring to /ustice!

2uring the long hours of waiting, Cross has the chance to spea% to 6amilla

numerous times, his buddy 4ampson, his %ids and even Christine! here is a lot on

his mind other than this case! Cross tells 6amilla that he will come visit after the

case is done!

he Wolf finally ma%es contact with "otter," emailing him that a decision had been

made regarding his re1uest! Cross doesn(t answer right away but tries to remain

coy! he 7'I have replaced otter with an agent who loo%s li%e him, living at his

home and claiming to be sic% and unable to teach classes! 4o far, their plan has not

roused any suspicions! Cross again uses otter(s eye!!!


Cross draws his gun as he and the other agents moved in on the would&be

abductors! 3ne of the men grabs Gautier, the target and holds a gun to his face!

All hell brea%s loose and the three men scatter! Cross chases the blond who shot

Gautier, astonished that the man shot so ruthlessly and wondering if the man he is

chasing is the Wolf! All of a sudden, the man turns and fires at Cross who hits the

ground, dodging the bullet! hen, he hears a shot from behind him and the blond

falls! When Cross turns around, he sees his fellow agent eggy ;at* in her shooting

stance! he!!!


Li**ie Connolly is still alive in the closet where her psychopathic captor visits her a

few times each day! Continuing to develop an alternate reality in order to remain

sane, she loses herself in happier memories while the Wolf rapes her two, three,

sometimes five times a day!

When the Wolf is gone, Li**ie explores the closet and %nows every inch by touch

because she lives in total dar%ness! )ach article of clothing is %nown to such detail

Lipton, a big, loud man, demands to %now why Cross is there! Cross thin%s his

tough guy persona is an act, so he loo%s him in the eye and tells him he is there

because of %idnapping and murder! Cross then calls him by his screen name

"4terling" and tells him they traced the money to him! Lipton remains belligerent

and denies everything and threatens to call his lawyer! Cross radios his team to

begin their search of Lipton(s office and!!!


he Wolf maintains his coy demeanor as he informs Alex how his many business

associates are insulted with his rude entrance! Cross tells him that he is there to

arrest him for %idnapping! 4oro%in acts astonished at the 1uestioning of his

character! 4uddenly, they hear someone shouting about a fire! Cross and $ahoney

leave 4oro%in with a team of officers and run to the scene of the fire! When Cross

%noc%s down a loc%ed door where the fire is, he sees Li**ie Connolly(s face and she

is burning!

$ahoney run bac% to the living area to find two agents shot but alive! he agents

Part 4, Chapters 114, 115, 116, 117, Epilogue Summary

At four in the morning, the 7'I, CIA and 082 descend upon the Wolf! Cross had

never before been part of such a large operation! As they prepare to ma%e their

move, their suspect climbs out of his window, running across the roof! $ahoney and

Cross chase him and he fires, hitting them both and %noc%ing them down! Luc%ily,

their vests prevent any other in/ury! A helicopter appears overhead and two men

come out of the building! All are shooting! he 7'I agents return fire and secure the

area! Cross and $ahoney arrest Andrei ro%opev, the head of the trade delegation

to 0ew 8or%!

With ro%opev in custody, 'urns as%s Cross to return to Washington! When he

arrives, a meeting is in progress! 'urns brings him up to speed, telling him that the
